How to Wear Frosted Eyeshadow

Frosted eyeshadow is a trend that continues to come and go. Shimmering eyelids are in again ladies, and applying it could not be simpler.

You likely already know your best eyeshadow colors for your eye shape, and more then likely you are not willing to swap out your favorite colors for new shimmering frosted ones. However, if you poke around the makeup department, you can find your favorite eyeshadow color, only with a frosted shimmering glow added to them.

You can still wear your old eyeshadow colors, but after applying them, you will want to add one quick light sweep of a frosted colored eyeshadow. Silver works the best because your eyeshadow color will still come through, and the smoky silver hues will add a gorgeous faded shimmer which will blend to 2 colors if you use your normal eyeshadow color underneath.

A personal favorite of mine it to use a pink, then splash a light dusting of the frosted shadow on top. The mixed colors created a fade that transforms from bluish purple into gray in different lighting. The colorful illusion is flattering, dramatic, and bold, which is the hottest makeup trend as of late.

When it comes to frosted eye shadows, the best results you can get usually include mixing 2 different eyeshadow finishes. Start with a matter color, and then highlight the entire eye by adding a small dash of frosted shadow on top of that color. This way the color you used will shine through, yet with a frosted shimmering finish. Do not apply a mate eyeshadow to your upper brow though, leave this area alone, and sweep a bit of the frosted eyeshadow to this area. This will highlight the eye, but will not be overdone or too much.

You can mix 3 different colors as well. First apply the eyeshadow as described above, and then the small inner corners of your eyes, add a very small dash of color. I usually let 3 colors fade out into one another. I use a dark pink at the small creases of my eyes, closest to my nose, and then a purple, which will the fade into black. This creates a smoky eye, with a frosted shimmer.

When it comes to mixing different colored eye shadows though, make sure the colors go well together. You do not want to mix blue with red, or yellow with black. Make sure the colors run naturally, and blend together well. Do not over blend the colors though, otherwise the results will be one messy color.

When it comes to picking out the best frosted eyeshadow, try and find one that promises a long last. You want the shimmer to last as long as possible.
