I have never been a fan of Hawaiian Tropics products, years ago I had a
pretty bad run in with one of their tan in a cans, and ever since the
bad Oompa Loompa experience, I stood clear of the company all together.
Recently though I was sent a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunblock, Creme Lotion, SPF 50. For the free sample, they wanted an honest opinion...so...here goes.
It's thick, it's nasty, it definitely is very water resistant.
I do not know why they labeled it sheer touch, because after applying
some of the lotion to my skin, it felt like I had added 3 new layers of
rubberized skin to my own skin. It does not absorb well at all. It does
not feel greasy, but the texture left behind is probably worse. It's too
rubbery, and does not blend in well at all.
The scent is OK, and one I associated with Hawaiian Tropics, however I
have never been a fan of fake beachy coconut scents, so this one was
just not a winner with me. For those who like that fake beach oil
coconut scent, I'm sure you'll find love with this scent, but for me, nope.
On the bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunblock, Creme Lotion,
SPF 50 it states that this lotion is very water resistant, which is
true. I feel that it stands true to its promise though, due to the
feeling of total clogging of your natural skin and pores, and new found
layer of rubberized skin.
It will protect you from the sun, which is a plus, and it contains
ingredients which are healthy for the skin; now some of you may like all
of those extra goodies, and the 50 SPF promise, and the fact that it's
very water resistant, but for me, the slick rubbery feeling it left
behind on my skin makes it too nasty for me to want to wear on a daily
basis.
Overall:
Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Sunblock, Creme Lotion, SPF 50, is just
not for me. The fake coconut scent, and the weird thick texture left
behind on my skin was too off putting to continue to use it.
You can pick it up if you are still interest for around $10.00 for a nice sized bottle that will last you all summer long.
