Review of Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir

I recently had a swatch fall from a Macy's magazine featuring a bunch of new designer fragrances. I noticed one particular swatch due to the fact that the bottle itself was so beautiful.

This one is called Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir, and the bottle is shaped like a mini handbag. Supposedly the fragrance is inspired by the essence of a jeweler. I didn't get it too much, it should have been the essence of designer handbag makers, but none the less...

Kristen Dunst is your celebrity endorser for this particular scent, and honestly she looked so old on the ad that I had no idea it was her till I browsed the net for information on this scent.

Inspired by a jeweler, but you throw Kristen Dunst into the add, with a giant king lion behind her. Now I am not sure what is being portrayed in the add, but I get Madagascar, something inspired by nature?
The lion is adorable and all, but what does it have to do with a handbag shaped bottle of perfume, and jewelers? Eh, someone fire the marketing team.

Anyhow, with the mixed messages going on in the advertisement, I figured that maybe Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir would smell like something metallic, with a spiced sandy scent of the desert. Maybe some coconut, maybe some eccentric spice only found in Madagascar?

I swiped my swatch and sniffed.

The Scent:

Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir, in my opinion is bland. In fact I had to raise my wrist right under my nose to really be able to determine what sort of fragrances were in this mix.

Initially it is spicy, but a very dull spice. As it fades, which is incredibly fast, the jasmine rings its ugly neck, and basically what I was left with was a powdery jasmine, but very light and barely noticeable.

The Last:

Sadly, I was rooting for the lion here, he is so cute. I was hoping he would roar and steal the light from Dunst...wait, he did. At any rate, the fragrance does not last long at all. I got about 5 minutes before it was gone with the wind... out like a lion. Maybe that's why the lion was there in the ad?

Overall:

Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir, is a bust. A lot of fragrances that come in fancy cool bottles are a bust. Most money goes into the making of the bottle, than the fragrance itself, and that seems to be the issue with this one.

Due to its pathetic ability to last, and the bland barely there scent to begin with, I'd recommend just skipping this one. Yes, the bottle may entice you in perfume retail stores, but I suggest you skip it.
