Review of Revlon PhotoReady Powder, Medium/Deep

I had been waiting to try Revlon PhotoReady for quite some time, but being such a junkie of my high end Estee Lauder brand, I couldn't see this low end run of the mill brand being able to match the results I get with Estee Lauder. However Estee was taking a toll on my wallet, and when I needed a new pressed powder, I decide to give PhotoReady a try.

It promises a flawless finish, and supposedly has some sort of ingredients within, that will enhance how you look in a photograph. Being a Facebook profile changer by day, I figured this was cool, flawless coverage, and ingredients to help me take prettier pictures and eliminate shine. SOLD! I have oily skin by nature, and do my best to take care of it throughout the day. If this worked as stated, hopefully I wouldn't have to touch up as much to hide the shine I normally get on my forehead.

The Package:

It's a little obnoxious, and in this day and age 90% of women do not need that extra slot for a mini piece of garbage brush applicator. We have our own. The added compartment just adds to the bulk of the compact, which is an annoying shape and size. I prefer rounds, but Revlon did this one up in a rectangular shape, obviously to fit the brush.

At any rate, you are best off applying this powder with a regular makeup brush, and tossing the mini one which for me was too rough on the skin anyway.

Cover:

I applied my foundation first, and planned on using Revlon PhotoReady Powder, Medium/Deep, over my foundation. I was immediately disappointed. I picked up the darkest color I could find because I have relatively tan skin. The powder didn't cover anything, I was waiting for this miraculous airbrush flawless finish as described, and instead I got a less than mediocre finish. Not only that, the powder seemed to have some sort of shimmery light reflecting particles in it, which I absolutely detest.

Those with shiny skin, go out of heir way for a clean matte finish, avoiding all shine at all cost, and this one has shine added to it!? What gives? How can you promise shine free finish, when the product has micro flecks of shimmer dust in it?

Overall:

No coverage at all, shimmery finish, and unnatural looking. I hated it, and am returning this one as soon as I get back to the store. I'll stick to Estee from now on, I was stupid to travel elsewhere. For arguments sake, I took a photo while wearing the powder to see if it did anything to enhance my look. It made me look shiny. Enough said.
