Review: Tatiana by Diane Von Furstenberg

I'm a perfume junkie, and whenever someone is about to pass off free perfume to me, I'll take it (even if it smells pretty rancid). You see I like collecting bottles, mini bottles, or larger decorative perfume bottles.

When someone passed off Tatiana by Diane Von Furstenberg, you better believe I took it.

When I first got hold of Tatiana, I figured it would have a classical old smell to it due to it's dark burnt orange color. Most burnt orange colors look antique, and smell antique. I sort of painted that impression on Tatiana the moment I got a glimpse of it, and my first impression of the perfume was correct.

Scent:

I sprayed a small amount of the perfume onto my wrist to give it a sniff test. The smell is a bit overwhelming at first with a very old fashioned smell of dried out flowers, and rust. The combination was pretty gross, but not in a way that would make you gag.

I personally wouldn't wear it out regularly as it is strong, it lingers for quite some time, and it sets off that whole old, old lady vibe.

Tatiana is recommended for romantic wear, but it's powdery rose and rust stench would likely just cause your lover to have a sneeze fest, as it is so spicy it tickles your nose.

After a few hours Tatiana begins to smell more like powder than it does anything else. The powder though is still thick and still has a presence of some type of floral arrangement.

Hmm...maybe the fact that it reminds me of funerals is what makes it so stinky?

Appearance:

Tatiana comes in a very nice shaped bottle, which reminds me of an odd cut gem. The bottle itself is definitely worthy of saving on the shelf, as far as the perfume itself goes though; well that is a different story.

Overall:

It's not one I would ever buy on my own. was glad to be given Tatiana for free solely for the nice gem cut glass bottle. Other than that though, I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone...that is...unless you like smelling like a classical old lady?

For those who dig it, or may dig it, you can purchase it mostly online. I have never ran into this perfume in any perfume stores. Online vendors sell Tatiana for around $19.99 to $24.99.

Estee Lauder Beautiful Gift Set

There seemed to be a ‘Beautiful fever’ going on today, the weather is beautiful, the air smells beautiful, and I feel beautiful today.

Oh did I mention that I smell beautiful too!? Yeah, I do, try not to be too jealous. Calm down okay, I’m going to share my secret with ya’ll.

It’s Beautiful. No lie, no joke. It is beautiful, that’s why I smell so good.

It’s Estee Lauders Beautiful actually. A gift set in which I obtained in the best of ways. Yard sale baby! Don’t faint either, I got it for a stinkin’ $20 Man! What a beautiful day, what a deal.

The gift set came with 1oz bottle of perfume, a 2.5oz tube of body lotion, and a .27oz perfume roll on/gloss combo. I had never before smelled Beautiful, so it was a gamble on whether or not I would enjoy it. But I knew of the name Estee Lauder, and knew that for a kit like this, it was a steal at on 20 buckaroos.

I really wanted to rip the box open in front of the woman selling it to do a sniff test, but I held back till I got home.

First I used the perfume, sniff sniff… mmmm… Yes. I approved.

To me it smelled like flowers, with a subtle earthy undertone. It wasn’t overly floral like some old lady’s perfume, it was light and sweet, and not too overpowering with the scent of alcohol like so many other perfumes. Man how I hate that initial stink of alcohol. I was glad to note that Beautiful was more perfume than it was watered down with alcohol.

Next came the lotion. Oh my favorite part of the beauty regime.

Usually I will apply lotion first, and then sprit myself down with the perfume. So that’s what I did.
Beautiful lotion was not overly runny nor was it too thick. It was a perfect balance between the two, providing me with a nice easy to apply silk like layer to my skin. It absorbed into my skin pretty quickly and left the same wonderful scent that the perfume had. Ah, to the tee, not off by a beat.

Next came the very small glass roll on glass tube of perfume.
Now I know what concentrated perfume oil looks like, and this surely is not it. But it does a good job for when you want that quick little touch up of the scent. Attached to the roll on pen on the opposite side is a handy dandy little lip-gloss applicator. To me the gloss is absolutely disgusting and tastes just like the perfume would taste if you accidentally sprayed it on your mouth.

Don’t get me wrong, I love lip-glosses; in food type flavors, not flowers. That’s just nasty! Not only that the gloss is sticky and slimy feeling. Not for me. Ech.

The roll on perfume pen however is a convenient size to fit right into my purse without clustering it. I do wish though that it were not made of glass. I find that if I happen to chuck my handbag like I sometimes do, that it will break open. Oh well, maybe next time Estee…

WON’T YOU STAY!?

After applying the lotion and then spraying myself down with the perfume, I was wondering just how long this beautiful scent would last.

My test got me about an hour. An hour! I’m a little disappointed. I mean geez I even put on the lotion.
But I’m sorry to say, as beautiful as Beautiful smells, she certainly doesn’t stick around to let you smell beautiful all day. It tends to leave pretty quickly.

I figured well maybe I can’t smell it, and others can. Nope. Never once got a compliment, so I assume it’s not detectable to others either.

I would of liked a little more from this scent by Estee Lauder. I’m glad I got this one for only $20 and didn’t spend more.

What good is buying expensive perfume, if it’s lasting power is just as pathetic as a bottle of cheap WalMart spray on gunk?

MY FEELINGS MRS. LAUDER!

You’re perfume smells wonderful, but sadly it goes away in only about an hour. The scent does not even stick to my clothing, and I’ve had better lasting power with $3 body splashes. I do hope you do something about this, or lower your dang prices. Thanks. Melissa.

RECOMMENDATION:

Only if you happen to stumble upon it at a yard sale. This kit goes for $50-$60 otherwise.

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor: Perfume Review

Oh Elizabeth, Elizabeth, what can I say, even for a Grandmother scent I am addicted to your scent White Diamonds. Sigh.

I’ll be honest and blunt with you; some nut job was selling your 3.4 oz bottle at a yard sale for a buck! Man what a steal! What a fool right?! Wouldn’t you say Elizabeth?

Now don’t get angry. I didn’t tell you to upset you, really you should be happy, because I have been buying it ever since. Her yard sale brought you a lifetime customer.

I want to say what drew me to your fragrance in the first place was your craft work on the bottle. When I was told I could have it for a dollar, I felt like the bottle itself was worth more.

I love how the bottle stands tall and proud, it towers above all of my other designer fragrances, and the small rhinestones that ring around my bottle was genius!

You must know every girl loves diamonds, and bravo for going for adding them to the look on your bottle.
Not only that but girls love gold too and you managed to throw in some gold on top right where the pump sits, and on the cap. I must say, lovely Elizabeth, just lovely.

Not only that it smells fantastic.
I will admit when I first tried it out, I immediately thought it smelled like an old lady’s perfume, but as time went by, I grew accustom of this scent, and grew to love it.

It reminds me of an elegant scent, something I would wear to a ball (if I ever were to go to one that is), a mix between musk and roses.
I enjoy it, and my, my, my does this perfume last. I can put it on in the morning and still smell it all over me at night.

I also want to say thank you for being so generous. Your perfume is not cheap, nor does it smell generic, but the prices are. I have found this online at sites for under $30 and sometimes less for smaller bottles.

Many designer perfume companies don’t even offer such a hefty sized bottle of perfume, and at 3.4 oz only under $30, it’s a bargain like no other.
Too many designer companies have gone greedy, and their scents don’t even linger for longer than an hour. You should be proud of that fact, and I hope you continue to offer discounts and fragrances at reasonable prices.

You say that your fragrance is a blend of a blend of lily, rose, amber, oak moss, and sandalwood. You have it marked correct, but mostly the scent of rose and musk sticks out for me. Like I have already said.
I really love how when I spray on that first sprit it doesn’t reek of alcohol; it just smells like pure concentrated perfume.

I also see that you have many other products available in the White Diamond scent line.

I really appreciate the miniature 1/8oz perfume sample. I like collecting perfume bottles, and was glad to see that I could add my favorite scent to my mini collection.
I see you also have lotion, powder, and body wash available as well, another one of my favorites.

I just wanted to let you know that I have been receiving compliments left and right each and every time I put on some White Diamonds.

I wanted to let you in on some 411 though. You may want to do something about that ghastly looking box you hide this gem in.
Seriously, you can just wrap it up in some clear wrap so people can see what they are buying. It’s pretty enough to pass on without a box, and you’re better off.
The box itself is nothing spectacular, and for marketing purposes you may want to work on that. It’s too plain. You put so much effort into the bottle, why stop there?

Other than that though, this fragrance is a 5 star product. I have no other complaints.

I have been recommending it to everyone and anyone who passes by and says ‘mmm what are you wearing?’

I of course send them your way Mrs.Taylor.

Love It!!! DKNY Be Delicious Body Lotion

Whenever I buy body lotion, I don't buy it for the fact that it promises soft skin, or that it promises to bring relief to dry skin. I buy body lotions primarily for scent.

I bought DKNY Be Delicious Perfume for women, based solely on the fact that I loved the scent during an in store test. I should have tested it first, walked around, and seen if it lasted long. Unfortunately I ended up with buyers remorse, because I the scent didn't last long at all, and it was already too late. I purchased the bottle for close to $60.00.

When I was given a small tube of DKNY Be Delicious Body Lotion, I assumed it would be like the sister perfume. Scented great, but with no last at all.

Regardless though, I was glad it was given to me, because for 1 it was designer, and 2, I didn't buy anything for my co-worker, so I knew that it would make for a good gift (Yes I'm a re-gifter).

The lotion itself smelled awesome. I of course had to test it before giving it away. It had the exact replica scent that the perfume did.

Be Delicious smells like fresh granny-smith apples, with sugar, and a dab of honey. It has a very uplifting refreshing scent, and I love it.

The lotion is the normal bland white color that I was expecting. I was hoping though they'd add some green dye in to it, to make it a little interesting, but they didn't which is fine I guess.

It absorbs nto skin fast, and it definetley surrounds your body with it's addicting scent. As expected it did not soften skin, or help out with dry skin. Like I said though, I like lotions that offer scent, and nothing more. If you however are looking for a miracle cure for dry cracked skin, than Be Delicious Body Lotion is not for you.

The scent surprisingly stuck around for a few hours. It definitely had more staying power than the perfume, so I was pretty impressed with it.

In the end I kept the body lotion. I was going to give it away, but seeing that the last was longer than I imagined it would be, I had to keep it for myself; because I am greedy.

Pricing:

Now if you already know the Be Delicious scent, and you love it, than I definitely recommend the lotion to you, because it lasts a hell of a lot longer than the skimpy perfume does.

The pricing though is set at close to $45.00 for a 6.7 ounce tube, which is a bit high for perfumed lotion.

The choice though is up to you. Like I said though, if you love the scent, the body lotion will not disappoint.
