What's so Secretive About Secret Obsession by Calvin Klein?

I was never a fan of Calvin Klein's original Obsession perfume for women, but when I was given one of the latest members of the Obsession perfume family called, Secret Obsession, I was willing to go into it without hanging on to previous opinions on the original scent.

Secret Obsession is supposed to be a more modern edge on the original formula, and the new bottle that Secret Obsession come in surely is an improvement over the odd orbish egg shaped bottle of Obsession.

Secret Obsession comes in a bottle that reminds me of some sort of Genie lamp. It has a real Arabic look to it, and it's definitely worthy of keeping after the perfume is all used up. The bottle itself is a nice dark amber color, and seeing the bottle made me immediately think that Secret Obsession only secret was amber notes and wood.

The Scent:

After spraying Secret Obsession for the first time my initial reaction was, blech! I didn't like it. It had the same sort of heavy and dark scent that the original perfume had, only Secret Obsession was sweeter, fruitier, and thicker.

The amber musk undertone was present once the perfume began to dry, but the heavy nostril punching aroma was still very thick and obvious. In my opinion there is just something a little too masculine about Secret Obsession. Lately I have been coming across more and more fragrances that could actually be unisex scents vs man or women only.

Last:

The thing about Secret Obsession that fans of the original perfume will like is that it sticks like glue just like its big sister Obsession. The scent is extremely long lasting, and as time wears on the fragrance becomes a more woody amber scent that seems to be doused in powder.

If you like this sort of scent, than you will definitely find love in Secret Obsession, however if you are not into thick overpowering scents than this would be one to avoid completely.

All in all, there is no secret about Secret Obsession once you have it on it's overbearing, powerful, and those around you will be able to smell it. Some will compliment, and others will stand further away from you.

It's really a preference, but in my opinion, when it comes to perfume, you should really keep your preferences to yourself, in a much more subtle, non-invasive type of way. Secret Obsession is just too strong for it to be anything close to a secret. The fragrance screams.
