Review, Medieval Corset Bag by Demonia

my post also on AC

This year I made Christmas easy for everyone. I told them to go to Amazon, make a wish list and I'd buy them what I could off of their wish lists. This worked out brilliantly, even for myself!

While browsing around for some platform shoes, I came across an Amazon suggestion that I could not leave behind. A Medieval Corset Handbag by Demonia.

The handbag was right up my alley. I like unique things, that no one else has, and the Corset Handbag was just the ticket. The bag immediately caught my eye with its sexy curves, awesome buckles, and punk zipper.

The handbag is shaped just like a woman's torso. The black pleather is all done up with special little extras to make the bag look like a sexy leather vixen's corset.

At the front the bag features a sexy zipper that travels down, down, down the bag. The zipper is then garnished with 5 belt buckle like straps to really give it that extra added sex appeal that a corset does to a woman's body.

The back of the bag displays a sexy little criss crossed lace up string. All in all the handbag looks like sexy biker lingerie.

The Demonia Handbag is not very roomy, so don't expect to go shoving your entire life into it. The top zipper opens up to reveal storage space, but all I can fit into it is my wallet, my cell phone, a bottle of my favorite perfume, my car keys, and some makeup.

If you only carry essentials in your handbag now, than the Medieval Corset Bag by Demonia will have plenty of room for you. If you carry more, than this bag may not be for you.

Quality:

The Medieval Corset Bag by Demonia definitely does not resemble real leather, but the material is tight and looks hot. The only complaint I have is that the bottom fringe bends when you place the bag down. I imagine over time eventually the fake material will rip, so I have to take extra special care when I use the bag.

Recommendation:

The Medieval Corset Bag by Demonia is sexy, and is a must have for young punk rocker girls, or girls who like unique and sexy things.

I've owned the bag since Christmas and have already gotten over a dozen compliments on it. It's definitely different!

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Fortifying Creme Conditioner

I'm always looking for new ways to get my hair as shiny, sleek, and frizz free as possible. You would not believe how much money I have invested throughout my life...on hair care. God, I'm sure the dollar price is enough to make even me puke.

Anyhow, I suffer from what I like to call Macy Gray hair!Mmhmm, frizzy, out of control, knotty, dry, split, parched, funk!!!

There are so many things available on the market that promise relief for those with unruly hair...yet in my time, I have learned that only about half of what is available actually will help. I have yet to find the 'IT' product.

Last week while browsing through my local Walmart hair care section, I came across Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine.

I was going to skip purchasing it, but it came with not one, but two free samples of other Garnier products. For $3.13 I couldn't pass it up. Plus hey...maybe it would work?

The Promise:

According to the packages Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine would nourish my hair from roots to tips, strengthen my hair, and smooth it out.

The promise was not very bold (in fact it was quite subtle), but seeing how I liked Garnier in general, I went ahead and bought it anyway.

Texture:

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine had a somewhat nice texture, and felt nice in my hair. The texture though was not as thick as I would have liked. In fact it was a bit runny, which was sort of disappointing and messy.

Scent:

The scent was extremely likable. To me it has a very tropical smell, which actually smelled similar to banana, honey, and a tinge of coconut all mixed in one. This was the first Garnier prodcut that actually did not come packed with that official Garnier citrus scent that most of their products have.

My Use:

I kept the conditioner in my hair for the standard three minutes as directed, and rinsed.

I could feel the difference as I rinsed. Smooth, soft, and knot free.

However, I hoped that when my hair dried it would remain smooth, soft, and knot free. Usually when my hair type (frizzy, thick and unruly) begins to dry, the frizz begins to spring into action, as well as the puff, and the knots.

Dry Time:

Sadly I am reporting that Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine did not keep frizz at bay. I sort of figured it wouldn't. It's hard to keep frizzy hair tame, and with conditioner this runny, it was no wonder.

My hair did however, dry a wee bit smoother than usual, but the difference was noting remarkable. The nice tropical scent though stuck around, which was nice.

Overall:

Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine only slightly worked, but the subtle difference was not as glorious as I have gotten from other Garnier products in the past.

Recommended?

I imagine that Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Sleek & Shine would work wonders for those with thinner hair types.

However for those with thick hair, prone to frizz, it won't work any hair care miracles. It will only slightly improve how your hair feels, but as we all now, slightly just does not cut it.

I don't recommend it to those with thick frizzy or curly hair. It does not do much, and is not worth the money. I personally can't see myself buying this again in the future.

Neutrogena Microderm Cleaning Pads

The main reason I purchased Neutrogena Microderm Cleaning Pads Illuminating, was because I suffer from dry areas on my skin. I got annoyed with non stop plucking at my dead skin areas with a tweezer, so I figured an exfoliating cleanser would do the same job, in less time.

Neutrogena's Microderm Cleaning Pads Illuminating is designed to gently exfoliate skin, remove excess dirt, and leave skin feeling soft.

The package comes in a pack of 24 pads, which is enough to get you by for most of the month.

The pads are made of soft cotton, and have 2 sides, with 2 different uses. One side of the pad contains exfoliation dots, which give the pad a more rough rugged texture, while the other side is softer for polishing the face.

In the middle of the pad there is a slit for you to slip in your fingers for a better hold on the pad. I liked this feature, and not many facial cleansing pads available are made like this.

After I slipped the pad onto my fingers I then ran it under some water as directed. I then began to scrub my face with the textured exfoliation side of the pad.

Small bubbles began to form on my face the more I scrubbed. What I ddn't like though was that the foam had a very greasy slime like texture it left behind as I scrubbed.

Besides the nasty greasy texture, I was also not to impressed with the texture of the pad itself. It was too soft on my face. When I exfoliate, I expect some sort of rough texture. This ensures a flawless cleaning. Neutrogena Microderm Cleaning Pads Illuminating, though was soft, and did not make my skin feel like it had the best possible cleaning.

I flipped the pad and used the softer side to polish. This side sucked as well. It barely felt as if it were doing anything for my face; besides leaving behind oil slicks.

Overall:

Even after washing my face it felt greasy. I had to rinse twice just to rid the horrid texture off of my skin.

Neutrogena Microderm Cleaning Pads Illuminating, also did not leave my skin feeling as clean as other products do. All in all, I am disappointed in Neutrogena Microderm Cleaning Pads, Illuminating. I'm packing them up, and getting my $6.00 back.

Those with sensitive skin may like them; however they are so weak when it comes to exfoliation....and they leave behind a nasty oily residue.

M.A.C. Eyeshadow Review

I know it sounds crazy to go out and spend $14.00 on eye shadow. But if you build your collection slowly, it's not that big of a financial deal...so long as you limit yourself to one per visit. Hah!

So I went overboard this week. Shoot me.

My Latest Find:

MAC Eyeshadow in the color Nocturnelle

The Color:

You can't go by the color chart that you see on the MAC website, because they have their shadings way off.

Noctornelle is described on the website as a 'pinked up chrome purple' (with a frost finish)

What you get in the actual store/mail though is a more marooned rose color with flecks of reddish brown glitter. More reddish than brown.

Skin Tone Recommendation:

If you are pale, skip Nocturnelle all together. It is vibrant, and will make your lids look infected, and or give off a stoner appearance.

For those with medium/dark skin tones though Nocturnelle is a gorgeous color for the lids, and will really make your eyes pop.

I recommend you use Nocturnelle, and a dark eyeliner over it, with a lighter color gold shimmer for the upper lid. Blend of course.

Last:

The thing I love about MAC Eyeshadow is that a little goes a long way, and where you apply it, is where it shall stay for the remainder of the day. You don't have to worry about it smudging, sticking to creases, or giving off gross eyelid shine.

Application:

MAC Shadow's go on with ease. If you want you can apply it using the tip of your finger, or you can use an eyeshadow brush.

I prefer using a thick eyeshadow brush. I swipe it across the small palette of color only once, and then sweep it across my lids. I then blend it into areas where I want it lighter, or darker.

Overall MAC Eyeshadow, Nocturnelle is a gorgeous color, that stays put. For me, MAC sells one of the highest quality shadows I have ever used. I cannot recommend it more.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Glistening Perfection Conditioner for Platinum To Champagne Blondes

I’ve been burned before on John Frieda’s products before.

However like any name brand company, there are plenty of products you love from them, and plenty that you hate.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Glistening Perfection Conditioner for Platinum to Champagne Blondes is one of them products that I’m in love with.

I have thick unruly wavy hair. I’m not talking your average thick hair either; I’m talking woolly bully. I actually had a stylist tell me my hair was the thickest she had ever worked on. That wasn’t a good thing either. There is a thin line between good thick hair, and crazy thick hair.

IF MY HAIR COULD TALK
-Before-

“Hello. I’m crazy thick. Shampoos and conditioners don’t stand a chance up against me. I’m out of control, I’m puffy, and when I walk through the door, you don’t forget me. I’m like a jungle with vines tangled all over the place. I’m so messy. Hahahaah!”

What my hair says after applying John Frieda’s conditioner:

“Today that girl put something on me, it was gooey and cold, and it smelt kind of nice! I’m so mad at her now; I’m not knotting up when she’s active, my vines have come down! What has she done to me, she’s killing me, oh what a cruel world!”

That’s pretty much what John Frieda’s glistening perfection conditioner does. You feel the difference the moment you apply it. You don’t have to wait for your hair to dry and style it to know if you’ve got a good conditioner or not. I was able to tell the moment I started to rub it in my scalp that this stuff was about to perform some sort of a small miracle for my head.

You are supposed to shampoo first, the bottle recommends you use its sister shampoo John Frieda’s glistening perfection shampoo; however any shampoo from any brand will do the job just fine. After shampooing you then apply an amount that is necessary for your hair length and thickness. I myself squeeze out about half a handful of the conditioner, run it through my hair, and wait three or four minutes.

As I began to wash the conditioner out, I could immediately tell that this magic yellow goop had done something magical, my hypothesis was right. My hair had never felt so silky and soft while washing any products out of it. And what’s this? No knots during the process!

I was able to brush my hair and style it afterwards without any knots and tangles, or the feeling of any residue left behind. It left my hair soft and shiny, and not to mention manageable. There was no greasy feeling to my hair at all after using this product, like so many other conditioners tend to do to my thick hair. I was amazed. (I still had to use a straight iron though afterwards) It doesn’t really do much for the “puff”, it just makes it tangle free, so it is much easier to style.

Now the conditioner worked like a charm, however there was no difference in my hair getting any lighter, or it improving the blonde color my hair already was, even after using this product for over a 2-month period.

I purchased mine at target. You can also find it in almost every shopping center, and drug stores ranging from $5 to $7.

PASS IT ON

I’d say yep, go out and buy it, it works wonderfully in combating knotty thick hair; however it won’t help much in the ‘poof’ department. You’re on your own with that issue, if you happen to find a magic puff-reducing product for girls with thick unruly hair, feel free to leave me a comment.

Bodycology Foaming Bath and Shower Gel

Why I bought Bodycology Foaming Bath & Shower Gel is beyond me. It was one of those crazy shopping whims I seem to have when I can’t balance my needs from my wants. Especially when it comes to bath products.

I really didn’t need it, but because I was about to purchase the coconut lime Body Bar I felt I HAD to have the shower gel as well. I know, it’s a sick habit. I’m ashamed of myself. I have no self-control!

However for only about $4 I felt this purchase was a win, not only that the bottle came with a reasonable 17.2oz of product. You can’t beat that, especially when the scent happens to be coconut lime.

The lime in da coke you nut, song danced in my head and I happily went marching to the counter. Score! Mine!

IN THE STORE SCENT:

In the store it smelled delish! Coconut with a subtle hint of lime, it reminded me of the lime coconut products I have purchased at Bath & Body Works in the past, only Bodycology’s coconut lime was for a fraction of the cost.

HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?

Well, I used about a quarter sized amount on my shower puff, the product itself comes out of a push up cap, and is a pearly lime green in color. (It didn’t stain my puff though, and the color went to white once I got a lather going.)

I began the procedure of rubbing the puff around my body, and wow, wow, wow, this was a lather like no other, it was thick like foam (thus the name ‘foaming’ bath and shower gel) and it felt extremely moisturizing.

Just as I began to allow myself to enjoy the lather I realized something, it felt just like I was rubbing shaving cream all over my body.
Now because of this thought in my head (of rubbing shaving cream everywhere) I was sort of turned off by the whole feeling of it.

Hmm… it doesn’t smell like shaving cream though…sniff…sniff… wait…

‘Where is the smell’?

IN THE SHOWER SCENT…

That’s right, I could barely detect that I was using a coconut lime scented wash. The smell was barely detectable, I had to bring the puff to my face to get a slight whiff of the scent.
It was a faded, very, very faded lime scent. It sort of reminded me of extremely watered down suntan lotion. Bleh!

I rinsed off, and my skin felt like it still had the product stuck to it, almost like it had created a gelatinous layer of skin.
I felt disgusting, I had to reach for one of my Bath & Body Work 3 in 1’s to rid myself of this eel like layer that Bodycology’s foaming bath and shower gel caused.

Never again will I give in to a cheap whim like this. I will stick to my more expensive brands, even if it means taking a big dip into the wallet every now and then. This is nothing more than a knock off of Bath & Body Works lime and coconut scented products.

OVERALL: The scent is almost non-existent; it covers your entire body in what feels like a layer of eel skin, or a layer of slime after you wash it off.

It’s a mess just like the body bar. Avoid it, save your $4 for something better.

RECOMMENDATION: None. (Or eels)

HOW THEY MADE IT:

(but why they made it is another mystery)

Lush Ooh La La Soap

I got a small cut of soap as a free sample with my last order from LUSH. It looked pretty all wrapped up in plastic with the small deli sticker on it. It read Ooh La La.

It was a deep purple in color, and is glycerin type soap.

I opened it up and smelled it, and it wasn’t too bad. It did however remind me slightly of LUSH’s Karma soap. As a matter of fact most of the soaps I got from LUSH reminded me of the Karma soap. I don’t know if the Karma soap threw off the scents of the other soaps, seeing how they were all shipped in the same box, but that was the scent I smelled in Ooh La La.

My initial reaction was, ooh I like it. Now lets try it.

IN THE SHOWER:

I knew that this small sample piece would only last for one shower, so if I liked it, I was going to have to order it. A cheap bar of soap would last quite a few showers if cut this small. LUSH soaps however have a tendency to melt pretty fast, so if you do order any LUSH soap, it’s recommended to cut it up into sample-sized pieces. Really that is all you need.

Anyways, I began rubbing Ooh La La all over my body, and I watched as the soap began to create small purple suds all over me, dripping to the floor. This soap was pretty messy, but it washed off without staining.

The purple colored suds and drips on the shower floor though were the least of my worries.

Ahhh---Choooooooo!!!

Suddenly the scent hit me. I was appalled. It smelt just like I was rubbing chili all over my body, and pepper, lots and lots of pepper! This was the first time I have been all out sickened by a scent in the shower. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty nasty stinking bath products out there, but Ooh La La takes the trophy.

Why would LUSH do this to me? Why would they send me a sample of chili powder and pepper-scented soap? How disgusting!

Not only that but my bar felt slightly gritty. As I washed with it, I actually got the full feeling of washing with pepper. There were small scratchy grains of something in it. I imagined it was grains of pepper.

I immediately grabbed a bottle of Bath & Body Works body wash to get the horrible stink off of me. I definitely did not want to reek of a giant walking bowl of chili for the rest of the day.

I let the rest of Ooh La La fall to the floor and disappear down the drain. I honestly feel bad for anyone who may of spent money on this one.

DRY TIME:

I felt slightly cleaner after covering the horrible stink with my body wash. If I hadn’t used the body wash I would have stepped out of the shower feeling dirty and grimy, and most likely sneezing from the overpowering pepper smell.

My body did not feel 100% clean though, even after using my favorite wash. I still felt dirty, and I could still smell the disgusting chili powder smell. I used lotion and perfume to get rid of the last remaining stink buds that stuck to my body.

WHAT LUSH SAYS: (With my feelings cut in between)

A soap so deliciously (spicy) overflowing with (messy) grape juice (and pepper), lavender (where?), rosemary and thyme (and chili beef) it becomes a Provencal (and nasty) feast for the senses. Just one wash (if you can bear it) with this soap and you'll (run out of the shower) be transported (and sneezing) to a sun-drenched café (of dried out peppers) in the Mediterranean. C'est magnifique. (ECH!)

There, that makes more sense now. That fits the description about right. Haha! Take that! LUSH the liar!

WHAT STINKS?

Ingredients: Sodium Palm Kernelate, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Lavender Infusion (Lavendula hybrida), Honeysuckle Infusion (Lonicera capifolium), Marigold Infusion (Calendula officinalis), Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Grape Juice (Vitis vinifera), Perfume, Rosemary Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis), Thyme Oil (Thymus vulgaris), Lavender Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Lavender Absolute (Lavendula hybrida), Sodium Chloride, Glycerine, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, D&C Red No. 33, FD&C Blue No. 1, Lavender Sprigs (Lavendula hybrida), Rosebuds (Rosa centifolia),

IF YOU DARE TO TRY IT:

You can buy Ooh La La at any LUSH stores, or online for (gag!) $8.55 for a 3.5 oz bar. Slap on $8.26 shipping and it becomes almost a $17 bar of soap. I mean chili goop. What a rip off. Where do they come up with these prices!? Why is this particular soap so expensive? It’s by far the worst one I have ever tortured my nostrils with!

RECOMMENDATION:

None.

I honestly don’t know who would enjoy washing themselves with a bar of soap with an overpowering scent of chili pepper.

Bed Head Tigi Control Freak Serum

I have always steered away from high priced hair products, unless they happen to be shampoo or conditioner. The reason is because I have learned from past mistakes that even though the advertising promises wondrous things, you usually end up with expensive crud in a fancy bottle.

Something about TIGI Bed Head Control Freak Serum though caused me to once again splurge on high-end hair products. I didn’t feel too bad though, I have had gotten wonderful results from Bed Head conditioners and shampoos. So it was a company I trust.

The bottle came with 90z of serum, and cost me only $8, which for me is still a little high. But it’s a product that even salons recommend. So I felt it was a good deal. The bottle itself is a clear thin see through plastic with a small cone shaped pop up cap. It sort of reminded me of an Elmer’s glue cap. The serum is sort of a mint transparent green with micro speckles inside of it. These micro speckles, (or glitter) is supposedly added to make your hair shine.

After reading the promises on the bottle, I knew I had to try it. The bottle stated:

Frizz Control and Straightener Fights the frizz and stomps the curl. This light, greaseless & humidity resistant formula delivers a straight-up glossy finish.

The directions were simple too; all you have to do is apply evenly to damp hair or dry hair for a straight look, and/or apply to dry hair to get rid of frizz.

I know my hair, and I know that many frizz products have failed it miserably. But for some reason I had high hopes for this one. God only knows why. I should stop having such high hopes for frizz products. None work the way the writing on the bottle promises. EVER!

WHEN USED ON DAMP HAIR

So after a nice shower, I towel dried my hair, I was unsure about how much to put in my hair, as the bottle didn’t give much direction on how much to put in. It just said apply to the desired effect. Whatever that means!? I applied 2 quarter sized amounts, I knew if I added too much I could get some sort of yucky greasy effect forcing me to shower again. I also knew if I didn’t add enough, I might not get any results. So the 2-quarter size amounts seemed well enough.

Sniff sniff… yeah it smells weird. The website says it is pineapple scented. I don’t know who thought that up when they first sniffed it?
To me it smells like granny smith apples mixed with (sure enough) Elmer’s glue (gee just like the cap…hmm the similarities were starting to scare me).

As my hair began to dry, I felt something strange… no… actually it was a feeling I was well aware of, seeing how I have such a large history with crappy hair products.
The feeling was stickiness, not greasy, but sticky, all of the strands of my hair were sticking together creating an almost dread lock look. Not only that it was weighing my hair down, it looked unnatural and heavy… and yeah I looked like Jimmy Hendrix.

My intuition was right. This was another one of them gluey hair frizz relief products. As if we don’t have enough glue like hair products, they go and make one more.

I got back in the shower and washed it out. I could feel a slimy coating washing out of my hair when I began to rinse. It was quite disgusting and not very pleasant. But at least I couldn’t see any traces of glitter all over my body. The speckles are small enough to where you don’t even see them.

WHEN USED ON DRY HAIR

Like most gluey hair products they do make for a good frizz control, even if they do feel terrible. TIGI Bed Head Control Freak Serum does make for a good frizz relief product when you add it to dry hair. However you don’t want to add too much otherwise it will just knot up and weigh down your hair.

I used only a very small dime sized amount into my hand, rub together and then apply to my hair. Yep, it will leave your hands sticky too, but not overly sticky, just enough to send you to the sink to wash up.

OVERALL-

This product does fight the frizz, but it’s nothing special. It’s just like any other cruddy sticky frizz fighting hair product. You also won’t be getting any extra ‘gloss’ added to your hair. As a matter of fact after applying this my hair looks like it has residue in it, and it looks dull, and feels dry! EGAD!
Not only that, the price is way too high, especially when you can find better at Dollar Heaven.

It will not stomp out the curl. If you have curly hair and are expecting this serum to straighten your hair, keep dreaming. Get yourself a straight iron, and then apply this to fight the leftover frizz. You’re still going to have to straighten your hair after using this gunk. So it’s a big waste of time applying it to damp hair. You have to wash it out again anyways… unless you like dreads.

RECOMMENDATION:

Those seeking the dread lock look.

Anyone else… run.

Burt's Bees Burts Bees Herbal Blemish Stick

He’s 30. I’m ‘almost 25.’ At this age you would think people stop getting pimples and zits, but my boyfriend and me, we’re one of them unlucky ones with high school complexions. Not a wrinkle to be seen, but a zit, is always present, or about to make itself present.

Lately he has been on a mission for anything containing tea tree oil. Some idiot told him it’s the ‘best’ antiseptic and toner money can buy. We’re both gullible people I suppose; we sought after this magic tea tree oil, with stunning results. Tea tree oil was almost impossible to find! A trip to the city didn’t even deliver.

When I discovered tea tree water on LUSH.com he was about to cough up the money. But the day before I got online to order it we ran into Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick at Target, and would you look at that, somewhere in the list of long ingredients tea tree oil was present. Yay! He’s happy, I’m happy, and everybody is happy.

WHAT BURT SAID: (And no! Burt isn’t my boyfriend!)

This blemish stick contains ten effective herbal ingredients including willow bark - a natural hydroxy acid; natural antiseptic and astringent qualities from tea tree and juniper; and calendula, which has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Hey, Mother Nature gives you the breakouts, shouldn’t it be her responsibility to help you get rid of them?

So…

$8 later we’re home, and of course I “had” to be the first to try it because I had a nice miniature constellation going on, on my forehead.

I twisted of the little cap and what I found was an easy to use roll on applicator. I began rolling the oil all around my forehead and the moment it touched my little zits they began to burn and itch. I figured with a sensation like that, this stuff must work.

Suddenly the scent hit me. It was bloody awful! It smelled like sausages, no wait licorice… no… licorice sausages!!! Nar’sty!

However even tough it stunk to the high heavens, it felt like it was working. I could feel the nasty little red bumps screaming. Haha! Death to you zits!

Next Raymond applied it with no burning sensations at all. Hmm… that’s not good! Am I perhaps allergic to this stinky stuff?

THE NEXT DAY:

Yup!

Certainly I must be allergic. All of the little zits I rolled the stick on were not gone or any clearer; they actually were bright sickly red now. I irritated them the night before, and now they are mad!
Not only that but I had a whole new constellation on my forehead and cheeks!

Great, so now I have these little bright red bug bites all over my forehead, with a brand new batch of kids. What did they breed overnight!?

I looked over at Raymond. His zits didn’t look all red and it didn’t look like he had grown any new ones…. Ah wait, what’s that? Yep, he grew a few new ones too.

Too bad too, he had such high hopes for this stuff.

WHAT’S IN IT?

SD Alcohol, calendula flower oil, borage seed oil, yarrow oil, parsley seed extract, willow bark extract, lemon oil, fennel oil, water, tea tree leaf oil, juniperus communis fruit oil, eucalyptus globulus leaf oil.

It also claims to be 99% natural.

OVERALL OPINION:

Well waking up to zits even redder than they were the day before, and having them spread out into other locations where I normally don’t ever break out means one thing to me. This Burt’s Bee Blemish Stick is garbage.

Now I would not of said that to begin with because I may have had an allergic reaction to it (however I found this odd seeing how I have never had an allergic reaction to anything), but when I looked over at my boyfriends face and saw that he too had a whole new development grow on his face overnight, I knew this stuff was garbage.

He has been using it daily still for almost a week now, and he’s still got zits. This just proves to me that long term use doesn’t help either.

The smell is horrendous, the product is horrendous, and the whole thing was just horrendous. It’s over priced, overrated, and you end up with more zits than you began with.
What a concept, gee!

This product claimed to clear up my blemishes…

Myth "BUSTED"

Lush Aromaco Bar

The last thing on earth I like to talk about is armpits. Something about the foul creatures that hide under my arm has never been an open discussion or a topic I cared to talk about.

I sweat, and in the summer time sometimes I sweat to the point where I can feel a bead dribble down my body. It’s nasty, it’s disgusting, and I hate it.

When I came across Aromaco on Lush.com I was immediately interested, and the price did not seem too bad. $6.55 for a 3.5oz ‘bar’.

That’s right; Aromaco is a bar of deodorant. No stick, no spray, nothing, just a solid bar of deodorant.
I wondered why Lush didn’t just put it in a stick to keep things neat and make applying easy. Lush however seems to enjoy making messy products, and there have been a few messy products I have gotten from them, so it was no surprise they had to go and make this deodorant difficult.

I guess I avoided writing this ages ago because, like the deodorant, it just didn’t appeal to me.
However today sitting down in a full-blown Lushie mood, I figured I might as well try and steer as many people away from this arm pit nightmare known as Aromaco.

MY DEODORANT BAR:

Lush’s site promised minimum ingredients for maximum results. A simple and effective patchouli scented deodorant with witch hazel to discourage over sweating and baking soda to absorb moisture.

This description sounded exactly like what I needed. Plus it claimed to discourage over sweating. This was just what I needed for the summer months ahead.

When Aromaco arrived I was surprised at it’s appearance, it reminded me of a hunk of deodorant that got banged up a bit, and misshaped and perhaps even melted a little bit on it’s way. It looked exactly like I had imagined. Messy!
Just imagine taking one of your stick deodorants, throwing it in a sandwich bag tossing it around a bit… now you’ve got Aromaco. It’s not a bar, nor a ball, but a messy slab of art. I guess.

My Aromaco came in a small thin plastic tub like container. I guess Lush knew things would get messy, and they did, even with the protection of the tub. The deodorant itself was a cloudy off white. It almost looked a little dirty.

When I opened the container the smell of patchouli hit me. But it wasn’t just patchouli I smelled, I also noticed that same scent that hits you when you walk into a hospital. It smelled like sickness masked with antibacterial. I didn’t like it, but I also didn’t hate it.

DEODORANT ROCK:

My Aromarock… I mean Aromaco was so hard that I knew if I applied it right then and there I would rip some skin off of my poor sensitive wet pads. The deodorant bar was as hard as a rock. It seemed dried out, or old.

I allowed the deodorant bar to warm up in my hands before rubbing it on to my pits like so many others recommended on the Lush.com site. A nasty cloudy residue was left behind. I wondered if this nasty residue would also stain my shirts.

HOURS LATER:

I was a little nervous about wearing this one to work, so I had to test it on a day off. Usually my days off I am most active.
I had swiped on a decent amount of Aromaco onto my pits (a few chunks landed to the floor) and went about doing my daily things.

A few hours later the scent hit me. It must activate as I become more active and get hot. The smell of patchouli hit me in small waves. It wasn’t horrible, but it also was not a natural scent. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the whole point of Lush to be natural? Guess I’m used to unnatural scents under my pits. Bring on the harmful chemicals baby!

I then felt it. Sweat. So much for Lush’s broken promise. It wasn’t pouring out in buckets, but moisture was still present.

I let it be and went on shopping; there was nothing I could do about it now. Next the scent hit me, this time stronger. My patchouli pits now smelt of all out chicken noodle soup. Ew pre-puberty B.O!
I NEVER STINK! Yes I sweat, but NEVER stink. This was awful, an all out conspiracy! I wondered if people were smelling this God-awful scent and avoiding me?
Eh… that’s okay, I cleared an isle; more room to roam. But man did I stink! I couldn’t even take being around myself.

Next order of business was to go home and take a shower. I learned my lesson, never to use Aromaco again.

I have no idea what made the deodorant suddenly decide to reek like that. It obviously was not meant for me because on the Lush site I read plenty of consumer reviews praising the stuff. So I assumed it would be a good buy. Maybe for someone else, just not for me.

Overall:

Aromaco is a messy natural substitute to your harmful chemical filled deodorants. It has an unappealing scent to begin with; I don’t even know why I applied it.

Avoid this one. Stick to your regular deodorant. I honestly would avoid all of Lush’s deodorant bars after this messy experience.

Me; I’m sticking to my Degree. At least if I sweat a little with it on, I won’t smell like I haven’t taken a bath in months.
