Review of Bath & Body Works Fresh Pineapple Signature Body Lotion

Bath & Body Works comes out with seasonal scents every season, and every season I await for the release date just so I can drag my butt up to the store and get a sniff of the newest products. This summer season I was burned by their Temptations summer line of products, and I wasn't expecting too much when it came to the newest Signature scents.
Fresh Pineapple was in the lineup this year. I love the smell of pineapple, so I could not wait to try this new scent out. My first kill is always lotions when it comes to signature products. I clicked up the pop up cap and gave the lotion a squeeze.
The scent was that of pineapple yes, but man the scent was weak. It seemed watered down, and chemical like. I was also able to detect a scent that seemed to tone down the pineapple scent, and that scent was coconut. A scent I HATE! Coconut and pineapple just don't mix well, the coconut scent seemed to have made the pineapple scent weak.
Overall it was not an awful scent, but it definitely was not what I was expecting. I wanted mouth watering juicy pineapple, I wanted that lovely tropical fruit scent, and I wanted it to be realistic. Fresh Pineapple was far from realistic. I placed the lotion back on the counter, and walked out with nothing.
Bath & Body Works for the first time, has failed to impress me with their new summer scents. A few weeks later I stumbled back into the store to see what may be on sale, and low and behold Fresh Pineapple is on sale. Already!
When something that is practically brand new goes on sale, it usually means the obvious...the product sucks. Usually this particular lotion sells for $9.50, and now it's $5.00 less than 4 weeks later. I knew Fresh Pineapple sucked the moment I smelled it, so why the hell didn't Bath & Body Works? Now they are forced to sell their stinky lotion for almost half off. Haha, their loss.
I bought the lotion just because the price was low, and I knew I could package this one up for Christmas.
Before packing it up though, I of course had to give it a try. Maybe the lotion would smell different once it was dry on my skin. I squeezed a decent amount into my hand and began rubbing it on my legs. The chemical pineapple scent was very obvious, but the lotion had a nice consistent texture to it. Not too runny, nor too thick and buttery feeling.
Fresh Pineapple absorbed into my skin within moments. It did not leave my skin moisturized, but almost all Signature collection lotions leave behind no moisturization. Usually people buy them just for the scent, because for the most part the scents last a long time in this collection.
Fresh Pineapple did leave behind a subtle light pineapple scent behind for a few hours, but there was nothing realistic about it. It smelled fake, and cheap. I was hoping the scent would have changed once the lotion dried, but it never did.
I placed the lotion into a bag and it now sits in the back of my closet until I figure out who gets it for Christmas (maybe someone I don't like).
All in all, I wouldn't buy Fresh Pineapple lotion again, nor would I buy any of its sister products. They all smell the same. Fake. I really hope Bath & Body Works makes up for these tacky scents with their fall line of products.
