Review of Philosophy's Pumpkin Pie 3 in 1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo

I love the fall, I love the holidays that come with the fall, and most of all I love the scents that are associated with the lovely season. Pumpkin Pie most of all.
I have never been a huge fan of Philosophy products, but when I ran into their 3 in 1 Pumpkin Pie scented shower product I knew I had to have it. It reminded me a lot of Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Pie Paradise scent, but it was richer, and for the first time pretty damn realistic. Every other Philosophy product I have tried has always failed when it came to smelling realistic, but Philosophy really whipped up a special batch while making this one. It seriously smells like a freshly baked Pumpkin Pie, with just the right amount of cinnamon and spice. It's definitely a drool fest.
Pumpkin Pie comes in a 16 ounce clear bottle. What sets this one apart from any other Pumpkin Pie bath treat is that the bottle actually comes with a recipe for making your very own Pumpkin Pie. I have yet to use there recipe, but when the season calls for the desert I will be reporting back to let you know how it turned out.
In case you want to give it a go now though, here is the recipe:
1 unbaked pie shell, 15 oz. can pumpkin puree, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 c. brown sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. ginger, 2 tsp. molasses, 3 eggs beaten, 1 c. evaporated milk. mix all ingredients before blending in eggs and evaporated milk. carefully pour pumpkin pie filling into pie shell. bake 40 min. at 425 degrees, or until set to desired consistency.
Pumpkin Pie is one of Philosophy's winners, literately. It won best body wash by allure magazine. That says a lot I suppose, users of this sweet product can't be wrong, and they're not.
The gel is quite thick, but not too thick as to where it's difficult to get it out of the spout. It is a pearly orange color which captures the color of a real pumpkin quite nicely.
This gel is meant to be used as a wash, shampoo, or bubble bath. The choice is yours. I tend to use it a lot as shampoo and wash because it fails miserably when used as a bubble bath. I usually put a decent amount of the gel into running water. About 3 or 4 capfuls should be all you need. But with all Philosophy 3 in 1's, I find that you have to use a hell of a lot more to get bubbles. Even after using more gel your bubbles will lack, and pop out in just minutes. This is exactly what Pumpkin Pie did. The bath water however turns a light transparent orange color, and the water will also smell fantastic. However it does not leave the water feeling soft, creamy or even remotely moisturizing. Pumpkin Pie as a bubble bath is basically a waste of product.
As a wash I only need a small amount. I pour about a quarter sized dab into my bath poof, and rub it all around. Pumpkin Pie is glorious, the scent fills the room in seconds, while the lather is rich, creamy and silky.
After rinsing and drying off my skin was actually left smooth and soft. Usually I never got results like that from a body wash, but Pumpkin Pie acted like a shining star. The scent however vanished the moment I was dry, and its so delicious I really wish it would have stayed for just a bit.
I love this product for shampoo. The lather works up fast, and I barely even need a quarter amount of gel to get a thick amount of suds. Whats best about it is that after your hair is dry the pumpkin pie scent stays in your hair for almost an entire day. The shampoo left my hair clean and shiny with a nice fragrance. I could not have asked for more.
Overall:
I love it. Philosophy's Pumpkin Pie 3 in 1 is a sure winner, and I could see why it was voted 2004's best body wash. It may fail as a bubble bath, but it works wonderfully as a wash, and is by far one of my favorite products to use as a shampoo.
Ingredients:
Water, tea lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, glycol stearate, sodium chloride, tea-peg-3 cocamide sulfate, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, glycerin, peg-150 distearate, tocopheryl acetate, polyquaternium-7, fragrance, citric acid, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, yellow 5, red 33.
Where to buy it:
You can purchase this online right now at www.Philosophy.com for $16.00 for a 16 ounce bottle. I know the price seems high, but trust me, it's so worth it. The bottle is large enough as to where it could last you till next fall. Plus, you can have the fall season with you all year round.
