Review of Philosophy's I Love Grapefruit 3 in 1 Shower Gel

"Don't eat me, Don't eat me!" Don't worry, I won't. Grapefruit is nasty!
Philosophy's bait was the catchy title they gave this product. I Love Grapefruit.
I don't love grapefruit, but this sweet little number came in a gift basket I got this year for my Birthday so I could not deny it, or reject it. Right away though, I thought I was going to hate it, because I have always hated the tart drab scent of grapefruit.
Grapefruit by Philosophy was packaged nicely, and the bottle itself was attractive, with a real grapefruit cut in half on the cover. The slogan, I Love Grapefruit' was scrawled on top of the picture. The bottle itself is all white, with an easy to use click cap. The bottle itself was a large 16oz. The gel almost matches the ruby red and orange tint of a real grapefruit. The gel is sort of thick compared to other shower gels I have used.
Grapefruit is a 3 in 1 bath gel. Basically this means for $16.00 you are getting a body wash, a bubble bath, and a shampoo, all packed into one bottle. Not too bad if you think about it.
SCENT:
Surprisingly I liked it. I thought I'd hate it, and I had to eat my words. This stuff smelled good. I could detect grapefruit for sure, but it was not that tart like nose scrunching scent. Grapefruit was apparent, but it was much sweeter, and citrusy. It seemed as if Grapefruit had orange and sugar mixed in with it; and I liked it.
BUBBLE BATH:
I always do the bubble bath test first. I enjoy my bubble baths. I have used Philosophy 3 in 1's in the past, and have always gotten a weak amount of suds. It was no shock that Grapefruit too gave me a small amount of bubbles that fizzed out within minutes. It made the bath water smell great and turn a light orange color, but as far as bubbles were concerned, there were barely any at all.
WASH YOUR FREAKIN' HAIR!
I used about 2 quarters worth, and worked up a nice thick and creamy lather. It did not feel like it was drying my hair out at all. Usually 3 in 1's used as shampoos dry out your hair. Grapefruit actually made my hair feel moisturized. However once I rinsed it out, that dry feeling was present. I used a deep conditioner to avoid having parched hair. It worked like a charm, and after drying up, the slight scent of grapefruit pulsed from my veins. Well, not really... but it did leave a nice slight citrusy scent behind.
BODY WASH:
Body was is my favorite, and Philosophy always seems to be a crowd pleaser when used as a body wash. You don't need a lot, and a little goes a long, long way. One small quarter sized squeeze onto a bath puff will have you covered in delicious scented suds in no time. Not only do you get tons of suds, but the lather is smooth and silky. You're skin really feels like it's getting reborn while using this.
Afterward though, my skin did feel a bit moisturized, but nothing huge. I thought it would of been a hell of a difference, but honestly. It wasn't. It felt sweet in the shower though. But the moisturizing feeling sort of went away after the shower. The scent too went with it. I like when scents stay with me, but Grapefruit seemed to bite the dust as soon as I was towel dry.
Philosophy says that this particular scent is a great kick start to the day. I must say that it does have that wake you up scent; but the scent goes away when you dry off. It still awakens the senses, but I do wish it stood a little longer. At least for the drive in to work for cryin' out loud.

WHERE TO BUY IT:
You can purchase Grapefruit online at www.philosophy.com for $16.00. You can also pick this one up in beauty shops such as sephora, or the body shop. Availability may vary from store to store.
OVERALL:
Philosophy's Grapefruit is a lovely subtle citrus scent, it does nothing when it comes to making bubbles for a bubble bath, it works decent as a shampoo, and feels lovely as a body wash. However the scent disappears, and it does not leave your skin very hydrated.
I probably would never buy this one on my own for that price of $16.00, but if it went on sale, I would buy it just to use as shampoo.
