I'm not much of a mascara junkie; I used to be when I was younger.
However, with years of abuse, my lashes are sort of small and thin. I
used to have thick, long lashes - that is until I became fond of those
goddamn curlers, which eventually ruined what was once think long
lashes.
I do not apply often, and the only time I do apply is when I am going
out somewhere or have a party or some stupid-ass gathering to be present
at. I like mascara for these occasions because it shows off my eyes
more. However 3 hours into a gathering my mascara will run, begin to
feel heavy, or it will even hurt. The result is me picking the crap out
of my lashes because it clumps up or feels to weighted.
When I cam across Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara, I will admit I was
only attracted to it because of it's sweet metallic girly purple shine
of the wand. After picking up the package and reading more about the
mascara, I became more interested...and eventually I ended up purchasing
it.
In the package they closed the mascara with a little screw cap that is
meant to be thrown out after applying the mascara...the wand is left
outside of the package so you can get a good look at it. After using it,
the mascara applicator wand is used to close the tube. It's something
new that no other mascara company had thought about doing.
They left the brush out, so you could get an up close look at it's 'technology' hoo ha.
The brush itself has small purple bristles, and is designed in a way
to ensure full cover. Basically it won't miss a lash...not even an itty
bitty tiny one.
The Promise:
Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara promised beautifully defined lashes,
without clumps, or globs left behind. It sounded pretty good, it sounded
pretty promising. Now I just needed to put it to the test.
Colors:
Colors available in Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara are very black,
black, black brown, and brown. You have the option of purchasing a
washable or waterproof mascara. I of course went with waterproof. The
other formulas for me always seem to run.
My Use:
I dipped the purple brush into the mascara tube and out came a covered
wand. I slowly applied the mascara to my lashes. I noticed immediately
that this mascara was a lot more runny than what I was used to. No
wonder there would be no clumps.
After checking out my eyes, I was not impressed. Although there were
no clumps or anything, you couldn't really tell I had anything on. I
mean my lashes were darker, but Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara really
didn't do much when it came to making my lashes appear longer or
thicker. My lashes are pretty wimpy, so when I wear mascara I need a
formula that at least plumps them up a bit.
I waited a few moments for the mascara to dry before I went on to
applying a second coat. After applying a second coat I noticed they
looked a bit better, but...low and behold; a clump.
It was not an awful clump that I couldn't get rid of, but sure
enough...it was a clump, and Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara is supposed
to be clump-free. FAILED!
Overall:
I'm just not impressed. It is a light feeling mascara, but thats
because it does not do anything for your lashes but color them in a bit
darker.
Recommended:
Yes, and no. Yes because it is great for those who cannot stand
feeling mascara on their lashes. No for those looking for a dramatic
difference. It's a light formula, and seems that using one coat is the
only way to be clump free.
Pricing and Availability:
You can pick this up at any local drug store, or super store for around $6.
