OLAY Age Defying Protective Renewal Lotion: Review

These past few cold weeks have taken a toll on the overall appearance of my skin. I usually have only suffered from dry skin around my nose area. However this winter I have more then one dry patch; I have a few.

Around my nose, lips, and cheeks. Quite frankly I'm sick of picking at pieces of dead skin with my tweezers. It's gross, but also makes for a fun hobby.

Anyhow, I actually went to Target with moisturizing and skin renewal products in mind. I didn't care what the price was at the time. I just wanted something that would do something for my freaky dry winter skin.

I came across a slew of products, all promising the same. Some promising to renew while removing wrinkles... and other promising to shrink my pores. I went with 2 products that seemed best. One being Olay Age Defying Protective Renewal Lotion.

I figured since it was lotion it would cure my dry skin, while renewing my skins overall appearance.
The box though claimed that it would help protect against wrinkles, the Beta Hydroxy would moisturize my skin, and would gently lift away dull dry skin. The promise was younger looking, healthier looking skin.

It sounded great. Captain Gullible rushed to the counter and coughed up nearly $10.00 for the lotion.

Packaging:

OLAY Age Defying Protective Renewal Lotion comes in a bland black rectangular package. There was really nothing eye catching or spectacular about it. Inside a simple plastic bottle of lotion sat. It had a white base and black cap. I sort of disliked the application process. I was hoping for a click up cap.

Instead though you have to remove the cap, and then squeeze the bottle. The lotion spills through a small hole at the top.

I think it is annoying because I loose caps all of the time, as I tend to be lazy and never put them back on.

My Use:

I squeezed some of the lotion out, and applied to a fresh clean dry face. The consistency of the lotion is decent, and not too runny, nor to creamy. It had a very nice light scent to it, which was gone by the time the lotion dried.

After applying my skin felt instantly hydrated, sadly though my face also looked instantly oiled.
I have combination oily skin, and the last thing someone with oily skin wants is a product that makes them look even more greasy.

After a few minutes the oily look died down a tad. I applied makeup on top of the lotion, and went about my day.

An hour later, I'm thinking I'm looking smoking hot, and I check myself in a mirror. I could of died. My face was shining like a star. Oil! So much oil! My face looked like a dirty greasy piece of pizza.

Now I suffer from oily skin, but never in my life have I ever come across such a shiny face!

Overall:

I liked how OLAY Age Defying Protective Renewal Lotion hydrated my face and gave relief to my chapped dry areas. However the downfall is that in order for the dry skin to cure up, I have to suffer with overly oily skin. Not cool!

I knew now to only use this lotion at night, when no one would see me. Funny though how the other lotion I bought was for oil control!

Would I buy It Again?

A big no. I feel foolish that I spent nearly $10.00 on it the first time. I will however continue to use it very sparingly at night around my dry areas only. Never again to my entire face.
