This past month while searching out a birthday gift for a friend, I made
a mistake. I asked what she wanted, and her being the not so humble,
spoil me type, she presented me with her want, Chanel Chance'.
Being a perfume connoisseur myself, I knew this hit would be
expensive, but like the good robot I am, I went out on the hunt for the
elusive fine fragrance. Little did I know that when I asked for
something so simple, 'Chance', that I would be presented with 3 bottles,
all containing 3 different light colors. A green perfume, a pink one,
and the original. I knew she wanted the original, but my goodness, with
such a colorful Easter like option, I was curious as to what they all
smelled like.
Now the green one was too citrusy and unoriginal in my opinion. Next I got to try the pink one, called Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.
At first I liked it, it had a beautiful light airy scent to it, but
quickly as the scent settled, all I got was high notes of what my bubble
bath smells like. That's right, bubble bath. This one smells
like soap, soapy soap, girly soap, one you would like in your bath, but
unless you plan on skipping a bath or shower for a week long, and you
are looking for that fake 'I had a bath, but really didn't' type of
stink, then this one is more and more unappealing.
This took me by surprise, because if I know anything about Chanel, I
know that this designer strives for perfection, high quality, and it
demands respect in the fashion world. This fragrance however smelled
more like something you would find bottled up in a cheap scent like
Britney Spears or Vera Wang, who of course makes decent scents, but they
all smell too fruity or too bubbly.
Chanel usually is placed on a much higher notch in the quality
department, but unfortunately Chance Eau Tendre plops her down to lower
levels of what one would consider high quality.
Last:
Normally when fragrances deliver this high potent note of bubbles, the
scent does not stick around too long. The plus in the Chance Eau Tendre
department, is that it packs a lasting sudsy scent. So I suppose if
fresh bubble bath fragrances are your thing, this particular scent would
wow you, because it actually does last.
Overall:
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre may not be for me, as I have smelled my fair
share of soap suds in perfume, but for those who like this type of
fragrances, soapy, clean and sudsy, then sure this one would be a
winner, considering the fact that the scent does indeed pack a powerful
long last.
