My cousin was over yesterday, and stupidly we decided to go to the
ocean. It was foggy, and misty, and it was only a matter of time that
the moisture in the air began to stick to our faces. The result was 2
girls sitting by the water, with mascara and eye liner running down our
faces. We both looked as if we were ready for Halloween, and we
certainly didn't want to walk back to the car looking like ...the way we did!
It felt nasty, we looked nasty, and luckily she had a remedy right in
her purse to cure the monstrous look. She pulled out a pack of
Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes, and claimed that they
were the best makeup removal pads she had ever used. Man, she boasted so
much about them that you'd think she was in a commercial.
I myself was used to the very small circular removal pads, and when
she handed me a large towel for my face I was surprised. I had never
seen such a large makeup removal pad. I figured this bad boy would clean
off all my makeup and some.
She then told me that the Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
literately dissolve the makeup on your face, as well as any dirt and
oil. The claim on the package stated the same, the package also claimed
that it would not leave behind a heavy residue on my skin, which meant I
wouldn't have to rinse afterward.
My use:
I rubbed the towelette all around my face and eyes, and inspected it.
It did remove the mascara and eye liner with ease, as well as my cover
up. I liked how easily and well it worked. I usually struggle with the
eye area, but the large towel took care of it with little effort.
The towelette itself was not scented.
My face felt clean yes, but I did in fact feel a residue. It was not a
heavy one, so the towelettes worked as claimed; however it was a light
residue, and I did not like the feeling at all. It was like a thin layer
of oil on my face, and it felt nasty.
I ended up rinsing off when I got home, because even hours later I
could feel the thin layer on my face, and I knew that most likely it
would cause break outs. The next morning my thoughts proved to be right.
I had small zits on my face and neck, where I had rubbed the towelette.
Overall:
I will stick to my smaller makeup removal pads, they at least leave my
face fresh and oil free. The Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing
Towelettes left behind a nasty thin coating of some sort of gunk that my
facial chemistry did not agree with. Although they worked like a charm,
they made my skin feel like crap. I like my skin feeling clean fresh
and residue free. The towelettes leave your skin looking clean and
fresh, but it certainly does not feel that way.
If your face is prone to break outs, then avoid these miracle wipes.
Pricing and availability:
If you still think they are something you would want to try, you can
buy the actual tub of towelettes, or the refill packs. I recommend just
buying the refill packs and sealing them up well after each use. The tub
is costs way more, and keeps the towelettes just as moist as they are
in the refill packs. Just make sure you keep the refill packs sealed
well after opening them.
The refill packs come with 25 makeup towelettes. You can find them in any local superstore or drug store for about $7.00. A bit over priced for my likings.
*Do not flush the Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes down the toilet!
