Review of Sally Hansen, Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Collide-o-Scope

The most disappointing thing about Sally Hansen's new Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips is that finding them in the more desirable patterns is becoming almost impossible.

2 weeks ago I fell in love with them when I picked up the strips in a black and white flower pattern called Cut It Out. I found them to be pricey at first, but after realizing a topcoat of clear polish kept them on for over 14 days, I knew my quest had begun to seek out the other adorable patterns that were available.

My latest find goes to Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Collide-o-Scope.

Collide-o-Scope is basically an army camouflage pattern, only instead of using moss greens, they went and used bright colors which consist of bright blue, bright yellow, red, pink, and purple.

I was not sure if I would like this pattern as much as I liked Cut It Out, but I sure couldn't wait to get home to try them out.

I had to remove the Cut It Out Pattern, and honestly if I didn't I imagine they would have stood on for another week before peeling. Removing these strips is easy, you just use nail polish remover, and yes, they come off just as regular nail polish would. That's because they are made with real nail polish, so they act in the same manner, except of course application.

You apply them easily, and after figuring out how they worked after using them for the first time, I realized that these 16 strips could actually be used three times. You use one strip on one nail, and then peel off the excess strip. You then use that excess piece to cover the other nail on the other hand.

Basically you are only using 5 strips for the entire application since you can cover 2 nails with 1 strip. A lot of folks are under the impression you can only use this kit once, well if you know how to improvise you will get 3 uses, with one left over, for maybe... a toenail? Ha-ha.

Anyhow, application is a breeze. You simply clean the nail, buff the nail with the included nail file, and then clean the nail again in nail polish remover. Next you begin the process of applying the strips. First peel off the protective clear layer, and then peel of the actual strip from it's protective backing to expose the sticky adhesive side. Now you simply place the strip onto your nail carefully, and press.
I then push down, and lightly yank off the excess material, and apply that to the other hand. Any overhang can be filed away with the included file.

The trick though, to really having these strips last long is to apply a clear topcoat to the strip every 3 or 4 days to keep them looking shiny, new, and of course to keep them from peeling or lifting. If you do that, I'm telling you, these strips will not budge until you say so.

The Collide-o-Scope pattern is nice, but it is just not as professional and classy looking at their black and white patterns. This one is more juvenile, and something a teen would like more than say, an adult. While they are pretty, they are just too loud as far as coloring goes.

Overall though, if you are a young girl, or buying these for a young girl she will love them. They last, they are neat looking, and yes, they get compliments. They are worth the $8.99 I spent, especially seeing that I will get 3 uses out of them.
