By the looks of the large cloudy glass perfume bottle on my moms
dresser, I assumed it was garbage. I have seen old fashioned looking
bottles like this before, and mostly it meant that whatever was inside
would smell just as antique as it's bottle appeared.
La Perla by La Perla is a perfume for women that I had never seen
before, nor heard of before. It came in a large cloudy glass bottle,
with a large black lid. The overall shape reminds me of roll on
deodorant. The perfume inside is an antique yellow in color. There is
nothing attractive, nor appealing about the bottle.
Even though I didn't like the looks of it, I have also learned in the
past though, that you cannot judge a perfume based on it's bottle. So I
had to at least give La Perla a try before ripping on her too badly.
The Scent:
I sprayed some of the perfume on my usual spots. Some on my clothing, a
little on my wrists, a spritz on my neck, and a bit in my hair. My nose
was immediately introduced to a high note of powder and rose.
So
powerful it nearly put me into a sneezing coma. La Perla was strong,
over powering, and smelled like a Grandmother. I absolutelyHated it!
(The scent reminded me of the old mean lady at the thrift store, who
always yelled at me for playing with the toys, and running through
clothing racks when I was a kid)
Last:
Unfortunately nearly every nasty old lady perfume has a nasty long
lasting effect, and La Perla is just another one of those nasty long
lasting rose scented fragrances.
All in all, La Perla stuck around for the entire day, and was recognizable on my jacket the next day.
Recommended Wear:
La Perla recommends La Perla to be worn in the evening. I however
recommend you not wear it at all.
If I was an 80 year old granny though,
I would say that La Perla is more of a day wear scent...but that's just
my thoughts. Maybe old ladies like smelling like rotten roses at night?
What do I know?
Overall:
La Perla is horrible in my opinion. It has a very
strong, overbearing rose scent that lasts so long it makes you want to
spue. Yep, a scent that can cause nausea...La Perla fits the bill.
Where To Find:
For those daring enough to want to purchase this old lady perfume, you
can find it online for around $55.00 to $65.00. That is just insane for
what you are getting, which is nothing more then dried up old lady in a
bottle.
