Review of Lush: Hot Toddy Bubble Bar

When I first got a glimpse of Lushes holiday limited edition bubble bar, Hot Toddy, I knew immediately that this would be a bubble bar I would want to try without a doubt.

The description of warm cinnamon spice, and the overall appearance of the bar sold me.

It had a nice deep orange coloring to it, with a small cut of a cinnamon stick stuck right dab in the middle of it. I wanted to try it because although I don't love cinnamon, I knew it would offer a warming sense to the soul in my bath, which would be nice for these up and coming cold winter months.

Let's see if my assumptions were correct.

Hot Toddy came to my door about a week after ordering it. Out of the package it resembled the bubble bar shown on the Lush website, only my cinnamon stick must have had a rough time in the mail, because it was crunched up into millions of sharp bits. I figured the water would soften these bits, so I didn't have an issue with using it.

Scent:

Hot Toddy was delicious. As soon as I peeled away the protective paper wrapper a warm scent of spicy cinnamon and sugar filled the air. It was powerful, and I hoped that in the bath it would be just as powerful when it came to making bubbles, as it smelled.

My Use:

I cut Hot Toddy in half. I find that half the bar will do just fine when it comes to producing bubbles, and not only that, I get to keep the other half to give to someone else, or to use at a later date.

Hot Toddy crumbled pretty easily under running water, and produced mounds and mounds of bubbles in a matter of minutes. I was pretty excited, and hoped these bubbles would be long lasting, and scented!
Once in though, I noticed the cinnamon scent had nearly dwindled down to nothing. I could only smell the fragrance if I put my nose to the water.

It was disappointing, but not as disappointing as the last. The bubbles, the mounds and mounds of bubbles that I had were nearly gone in less than 5 minutes, which sucked.

I ended my bath early, and drained the tub. There were some small pieces of cinnamon stick left at the bottom of the tub, that were still hard, and luckily easy to clean.

My skin didn't feel any different. Not soft, not moisturized... I did feel clean, but there is nothing spectacular to even note.

Overall:

Hot Toddy would have been a good bubble bar had it lasted, and had the scent actually stood with it once I put it to use. Unfortunately the bubbles all die out too quickly, and the scent is non-existent.
I recommend you skip on this one.

If you are still interested in trying it though, do know that it is no longer even being shown on Lush.com for sale. You can however scoop up a Hot Toddy Bubble Bar on Ebay.com. The price will likely be a little higher, seeing that it is no longer being sold on the official site.

Hot Toddy gets 1 star out of 5 from me.
