Review of Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor

Everyone's hair seems to react differently to protein being added. The majority however state that it does nothing but winders for them.

I was given a bottle of Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor from a relative at Christmas time. When she asked me what I wanted, I told her anything and everything that you can find that will help my chemically damaged hair!

Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor looked like the caviar my hair had been seeking. There was something about the bottle that screamed high class, and promising results.

However the results were not as stunning and glamorous as I initially believed they would be.

It is meant to be put in damp clean hair, you then saturate your hair with the treatment, put a plastic cap over your head and leave it on for 10 minutes. I did this exactly as recommended.

The Texture:

The texture of Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor is gel like, but with a much thicker and stickier texture that will actually stick to your hands. I was not at all fond of the texture because as it dried it felt like I had just applied glue stick gel to my hair, and I worried about the overall results being more drying on my hair than the hair already was!

After leaving it in for 10 minutes, you can than shower with shampoo and use conditioner. It's advise to use the sister shampoo and conditioner, but sorry Nexxus, Biolage is my go-to girl!

The Results On Severely Damaged Hair:

My hair was very damaged before using Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor, and I knew it would not fix every issue after just one use. I was however hoping to see some sort of results even if small.

Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor sort of did nothing for me. My hair was still dry at the ends, the strands still lacked elasticity, and I did not like how the overall texture of my hair felt. As if it had been stripped.

On Healthier Hair:

Since Christmas I have given Nexxus Polymedic Emergency Reconstructor the benefit of the doubt as my hair began to improve using other products. Once my hair was back to a healthier state I decided to go ahead and try the gel again.

Unfortunately after using it again, my hair actually felt drier than what it usually was.

Overall:

I know a lot of women out there fully recommend this stuff, but for me, my hair just refuses to like it. It actually makes it drier and more brittle after each use, and therefore I will be passing the remainder of the bottle over to someone else. Maybe they will have better results with it.
