I have always had combo oily skin. My forehead, nose and cheeks in
particular are the hardest areas to keep looking fresh, and oil free.
I have tried numerous things in my time, from blotting sheets,
mattifying foundation, oil reducing moisturizers, and so on, and so on.
Some products work, and then they stop working. Then other products that
state the most claims, end up not working at all.
The solution that seems to work best for me, is to keep up on my skin
care throughout the day by blotting with a powder. However just because I
can do that does not mean I do not actively search for new products
with oil/shine away promises. This was basically why I bought a tube of Olay Fresh Effects Shine, Shine Go Away! Shine Minimizing Cleanser.
The cleanser promised to keep shine and oil at bay, so why not try it?
If it worked, I would not have to apply powder to my face as often
throughout the day! Sounds good to me!
My Use:
I use Olay Fresh Effects Shine, Shine Go Away! Shine Minimizing
Cleanser just like I would any cleanser. What I liked initially though
was how little amount of the cleanser I had to use in order to get a
good lather. The first time I used it, I used way too much, only to find
that a small little squirt of the cleanser was all I needed to cover my
face fully.
The cleanser is more like a silky cream cleanser, that works into a really good lather.
The lather is amazing, there are tons of bubbles and it really feels like it is getting rid of dirt and any oils on the skin.
The scent is also a very fresh one, but not overbearing or too
fragrance filled. After rinsing my face off, and drying my skin, I am
left with an ultra clean, ultra fresh texture that is both smooth and
silky. There is no residue left behind, and there is not a feeling of
tightening and dryness.
I wondered though if it would really keep oil and shine away.
I went about my normal routine and applied my makeup and went about my day.
Any Shine?
Of course!
Nothing works perfectly for those of us with shiny skin. However the
shine and oil build was not nearly as thick and shiny as usual. It seems
to work, but not flawlessly. I had less shine and oil for the most of
the morning, and by noon I had to blot with powder to rid my forehead of
shine. Shine was not as intense, so the cleanser seems to work
partially.
Overall:
I like it. It kept shine at bay for longer than most shine free
cleansers, and it did not leave skin feeling dry or as if there was
residue left behind.
All in all, it is pretty good for a cleanser. I would recommend it to
those looking to calm the oil rush, and lessen the shine.
