My mom is on a perfume kick... she's always been a perfume junkie;
lately though it's gotten to the point where she is trading co workers
fragrances for ones she does not have. Yes... the woman treats her
perfume like trading cards.
Nearly every time I sneak a peek into her room, her dresser has looks
like a miniature castle filled with crystal bottles in all sorts of neat
shapes and colors. Whenever I see something new, I review it.
This week her dresser was a gold mine...yet again. She traded a few
fragrances for new ones, and managed to pick up a few at our favorite
local thrift store for a dollar each.
Valentino V Absolu caught my eye first because it came in a very
pretty and unusual lop sided bottle.
The bottle itself is not
necessarily lopsided, but it sits on it's side, and is a gorgeous red
bottle.
Towards the top of the bottle the glass is a faded white, that
blends into the deep red further down. To me it looks like a red
diamond.
Before spraying Valentino V Absolu, I imagined it would smell like
fruit. The red colored bottle got me to thinking about apples,
strawberries and watermelon. I thought Valentino V Absolu would be a
very berry fragrance that would not last long.
I sprayed it onto my wrist and put it to the test.
Immediately I noted spices. I didn't like it, but I couldn't knock it
completely, till the perfume had completely dried. The scent of alcohol
could boggle the senses, so I waited it out.
After my wrist was fully dry, I raised it to my nose. The spice smell
was still there. Overall though I noted fragrances of grass, hay, and
wheat.
Valentino V Absolu was strange. It reminded me of those all natural
outdoorsy fragrances that a lot of Lush products I have tried are made
with. That grassy woodsy fragrance. You either love it, or you hate it.
Last:
Valentino V Absolu stood with me for about an hour. After that I was
no longer able to detect the scent; even when lifting my wrist directly
under my nose.
Overall Impression:
Valentino V Absolu is definitely different. Although it is not what I
was expecting from a perfume, it's also not terrible. It is unique, but
not something I'd like wearing everyday.
I think that Valentino V Absolu would appeal to those who like
nature/outdoorsy scents. It reminds me of fresh cut grass and horse hay,
but not in an awful way.
Pricing and Availability:
You can pick up a bottle of Valentino V Absolu for about $35.00 by searching for it through online vendors.
Recommended:
Valentino V Absolu is a decent fragrance for those who enjoy woodsy
scents, however due to the fact that the scent only sticks around for a
short amount of time, I can't highly recommend it.
