Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes: Review

I wear makeup everyday; everyday. I feel naked without it; ugly; and I actually look a little sickly without my daily makeup mask. What sucks about makeup though is the fact that even after washing my face with soap and water, I will find that some small patches of that makeup stays behind. Especially mascara and eyeliner around my eyes.

I love using makeup removal liquids, but mostly those liquid removal agents only come in a very small bottle and don't last very long; especially if you are using it daily. I used to use eye makeup removal pads; but again I'd end up using 4 of these little pads just to remove makeup from my 2 eyes. That didn't go far.

I had also tried Makeup removal towels, and found that I didn't much like them at all. The last brand I had used was one by Neutrogena; so when I came across Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes-- Oil Free, I was really hesitant to try them, but at the same time I love most of what Garnier has to offer, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try them; besides, if they sucked I knew what not to buy again in the future.

The Promise:

Like most facial cleansing towels, Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free promised what they basically all promise; to clean my skin, instantly remove makeup, leaving my skin deeply cleansed, and pure. On top of that it also promised it would remove mascara with ease.

This was a plus because mostly it is mascara and eyeliner that I struggle removing completely.

Packaging:

Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free comes in a soft aluminum type pouch, or bag. At the top there is a resealable peel away that you can stick back on and back off every time you use a towel.

There is also a plastic jug version to ensure that the towels stay fresh and won't dry out. I find that this tub is not necessary though, and it will cost a lot more than if you were to just buy the refill bags.

My Use:

Once I got home with my purchase, I went ahead and put them to use. The first thing I noticed when I opened the sealed bag was that Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free, smelled really, really nice. It had that distinct Garnier scent that nearly all of their products have. Fresh and clean with a dash of citrus.

The towel was of course white, so you could see how good of a job it is doing when it comes to removing makeup. The towels were semi large, and I figured a size well enough to get most of the dirt, grime, and makeup from my face. I had a hunch though that in order to truly remove every last drop of makeup on my face and eyes, that I would need another towel... or a half of another towel anyway.

Anyhow, I began with my eyes first. After gently rubbing the towel around my eyes I noticed that it was in fact removing the black eyeliner and mascara from my eyes. However when checking a mirror, I also noticed that it was not collecting every last drop. Instead it was sort of smearing the black around my eyes, giving me the infamous raccoon look.

I went at my eyes some more and attempted to get every last bit of mascara and eyeliner that had smeared. It did an overall pretty good job, but I found that I was scrubbing a bit harder than I liked, and even with rough scrubbing, some of the black makeup ended up in creases of my eyes, or well hidden under my lashes. It was annoying, but I guess I sort of expected the towels to not work magic when it came to mascaras and dark eyeliners.

On my eyes, I would rate Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free, a 3 out of 5. It did a half decent job.

By no means did I want to use the same dirty towel on my actual skin so I went ahead and used a new fresh towel to work with on the rest of my face. I rubbed the towel around my cheeks, nose, and forehead to remove my foundation.

It seemed to do a great job here, but I was able to feel a very greasy texture being left behind on my skin that I DID NOT like at all. Usually towels with a greasy residue causes my face to break out.

Either way though, I continued using the towel to remove my makeup, and then went ahead to wash my face with some facial cleanser. No way in hell was I going to let this stuff cause break outs.

Overall:

Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free seems to work like any other makeup removal towel. It has a nicer scent than most, but it still leaves behind that same greasy layer on your skin...even with the oil free promise.

It did a great job at removing makeup off of my face; but struggled to remove makeup from my eyes.

All in all Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free is just a decent removal towel. I likely wouldn't buy it again though, simply because baby wipes do a similar job and cost much less.

-Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes -- Oil Free contains 25 towels, and comes to around $6.50 at local drug stores and super stores.
