I purchased Alberto VO5 Smoothing Souffle Frizz Defense Creme a few
months ago. The reasoning was simple; it was a hot humid day and my hair
of course was reacting to it. When I say reacting I mean, puffing up,
frizzing out, fro'ed.
I found the creme while browsing my local CVS drugstore, and came
across the small red 4 ounce tube. The bottle basically claimed that
this creme could be used on dry or wet hair. To smooth out frizz use it
on dry hair, and to create smooth styles I could apply it to wet hair.
It all seemed pretty gooshy ooshy neat, so of course I laid down my
Abraham Lincoln, and made my way home.
I squeezed about a quarter sized amount of the white thick cream into
my palm, and rubbed my hands together. Next I simply applied the creme
to the middle and ends of my hair. I never apply to the scalp area
because most cremes leave a greasy unwashed look behind when I do so.
The creme smelled odd, it was not a decent scent, nor was it a
pleasant scent. It reminded me of dirt mixed with honey, and maybe a
small sprig of fig. Overall though the scent that truly hits you is a
chemical one. When you truly sniff it though, you will smell a
combination of the scents I mentioned above.
Alberto VO5 Smoothing Souffle Frizz Defense Creme worked into my hair
nicely, and left no greasy residue behind. However when I took a look in
the mirror, Alberto VO5 Smoothing Souffle Frizz Defense Creme didn't do
very much. I still saw frizz, I still had the misty looking fro. I
figured I needed more. I should have known better though, because most
cremes that work good, do not require a hand full of product to see
results. I though; like an idiot, decided I needed more.
I applied another quarter amount of the creme to my hair and repeated.
The frizz was going down; but so was the sheen of my hair. The result
looked weighed down, unwashed, and dirty.
I knew I overdid it, and had no choice but to jump into the shower.
After showering my locks out, I applied the creme yet again. I thought
that perhaps Alberto VO5 Smoothing Souffle Frizz Defense Creme only
worked in all it's glory when used on wet hair.
I applied a quarter amount to my hair; yet again. After a few hours my
hair began to dry, and I noticed....I noticed...nottafinga! Nothing!
My hair was drying and still frizzy looking. I was not expecting
miracles only because I have thick hair, but it could have at least done
something!
Overall:
Alberto VO5 Smoothing Souffle Frizz Defense Creme worked for diddly
squat. It was a waste of $5.00. I have used other products from Alberto
V05 with great results, so I was surprised to finally meet up with one
that sucked.
Recommendation:
I could see this working perhaps on those with very fine or thin hair.
Gals with thick locks like me; avoid it. It does nothing.
