Review of Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss

With nothing but consumers ranting and raving about Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss, I decided to go ahead and give it a try for myself. Besides, my hair needed the help after getting really dry and kinky after coloring it too many times in one month.

Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss promised to strengthen, smooth and add shine to my hair. For just under $30.00 I only had the highest of hopes for it; how could I not, everyone raved about how wonderful it worked for them.

My hair type is thick, with a borderline wave and curl to it. Unruly is what I would categorize it as, but now that it was over-processed and dry, it was even worse. So this could possibly play a role into why Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss was nothing more than a waste of money for me.

The first thing I disliked about this gloss was how it dispensed from the bottle. It is hard to get a lot out and you are stuck there pumping the small nozzle down, and only about a pinch of it comes through.
Either you are meant to use a small amount, or my nozzle is clogged. My hair length/thickness however needs way more than a pinch of product. It is actually tedious just to get a quarter sized drop into my palm!

The scent is the second noticeable dislike. For something this expensive I expected a refined fragrance, or not at all. Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss however has a very stale and rotten strawberry scent to it, which I am not too fond of.

I can of course overlook both of these issues, so long as the gloss worked as promised.

Results:

I have been using Kenra Platinum Silkening Gloss daily for about a month now, and due to the bottles odd weight and material it is constructed of, I have no clue if I am half done with the bottle, or near the end of it. Not that it would matter, I would not buy it again and that is primarily due to the fact that I have yet to see a single benefit come from it.

I put it in damp hair and it dries as it always would. Dry and lifeless.

I put it in dry hair to add some sheen, and it does manage to do that for just a few minutes till the serum has dried out and absorbed into the hair.

Over the past month I have yet to see my hair improving any.

Thankfully the gross strawberry fragrance does not stay with you.

Overall:

I would imagine that if you had thinner hair, and less damaged hair this would work well enough as far as adding shine and shimmer, but for those looking to really fix damaged hair and to strengthen weak brittle hair, this gloss is not going to do much for you, if anything.
