John Frieda Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray

Today my hair is so stiff you can knock on it. –Yep stiff as a board-

I bought John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray only because it promised that it would hold my hair firmly and dry clear, plus it would leave no sticky messy residue behind. Not only that but this bad boy also promised protection from the sun, seeing how its got sunscreen in it as well.

The spray can itself was also a contributing factor as to why I spent $7.50 on hairspray. It was pretty. I admit it, I sometimes fall victim to buying products because the packaging is enticing to my eyes; which send a message to my brain telling me ‘oh la la, that’s sure is pretty, gotsta have me some!’

Let me be blunt, honest, and rude. John Frieda’s hairspray stinks. Yeah the scent smells pretty bad, sort of glue like and chemically… but not only that, the product itself stinks as well.

I’ve been lied to, that wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened with hair products. This hairspray goes on easy. You just press down on the nozzle, and spray it all around your dome piece; it comes out in a light mist, which I liked. Watch your eyes!

Hmm now wait; wait, for it to dry.

HOW DOES IT FEEL?
Well sticky, yucky, grimy, and did I mention crispy! How can the sun damage my hair any more than this product already has?
My hair is now as hard as a rock; it is not soft like the bottle promised. It sure is firm though, and a little gritty as well.

LONG TERM EXPOSURE
By the end of the day if you happen to catch a glimpse of your head in a mirror, you will notice the residue, and how dull your hair looks (crystal clear my rear end!)
Yay, you look like you’ve got a big dandruff problem.

There is no hiding now, you’re at work, and everyone thinks you’re a big giant dirt bag who never bathes, they are afraid to come near you because your flakes may land in their cup of coffee.

This is what happens when I tie my hair back into a bun, and spray it all around just to hold in any stragglers. It does do the job of holding them in though; I will give credit where it is due.

So do you want to know what happens when you spray this on styled hair?

Okay here’s a scenario: You’ve spent about an hour or two curling your hair, you’re ready for a night out with some friends. You need hairspray to hold in the curls right!? Right.

Don’t use John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde Crystal Hairspray, unless you want to spend the rest of the night washing this gunk out, and restyling your hair.
This spray will make your hair knotty and unmanageable. It does not hold curls in place, it weighs them down, and the curls will knot into other curls eventually creating a nest effect. Unless your aim is to look like Cruella steer clear of this product.

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY!
Say you have a bunch of this glue like substance in your hair; you may wonder what’s to happen if it rains, or if it is humid? Well the same dang thing that happens when you try to spray it on styled hair. It weighs down the curls even more though, and eventually all you are left with is a bunch of flakes. Oh my God, It’s snowing!!!!

I would not recommend this spray to anyone. However I would recommend it as a great Halloween hair product if your going for that scary punk rocker look.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Glistening Perfection Conditioner for Platinum To Champagne Blondes

I’ve been burned before on John Frieda’s products before.

However like any name brand company, there are plenty of products you love from them, and plenty that you hate.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Glistening Perfection Conditioner for Platinum to Champagne Blondes is one of them products that I’m in love with.

I have thick unruly wavy hair. I’m not talking your average thick hair either; I’m talking woolly bully. I actually had a stylist tell me my hair was the thickest she had ever worked on. That wasn’t a good thing either. There is a thin line between good thick hair, and crazy thick hair.

IF MY HAIR COULD TALK
-Before-

“Hello. I’m crazy thick. Shampoos and conditioners don’t stand a chance up against me. I’m out of control, I’m puffy, and when I walk through the door, you don’t forget me. I’m like a jungle with vines tangled all over the place. I’m so messy. Hahahaah!”

What my hair says after applying John Frieda’s conditioner:

“Today that girl put something on me, it was gooey and cold, and it smelt kind of nice! I’m so mad at her now; I’m not knotting up when she’s active, my vines have come down! What has she done to me, she’s killing me, oh what a cruel world!”

That’s pretty much what John Frieda’s glistening perfection conditioner does. You feel the difference the moment you apply it. You don’t have to wait for your hair to dry and style it to know if you’ve got a good conditioner or not. I was able to tell the moment I started to rub it in my scalp that this stuff was about to perform some sort of a small miracle for my head.

You are supposed to shampoo first, the bottle recommends you use its sister shampoo John Frieda’s glistening perfection shampoo; however any shampoo from any brand will do the job just fine. After shampooing you then apply an amount that is necessary for your hair length and thickness. I myself squeeze out about half a handful of the conditioner, run it through my hair, and wait three or four minutes.

As I began to wash the conditioner out, I could immediately tell that this magic yellow goop had done something magical, my hypothesis was right. My hair had never felt so silky and soft while washing any products out of it. And what’s this? No knots during the process!

I was able to brush my hair and style it afterwards without any knots and tangles, or the feeling of any residue left behind. It left my hair soft and shiny, and not to mention manageable. There was no greasy feeling to my hair at all after using this product, like so many other conditioners tend to do to my thick hair. I was amazed. (I still had to use a straight iron though afterwards) It doesn’t really do much for the “puff”, it just makes it tangle free, so it is much easier to style.

Now the conditioner worked like a charm, however there was no difference in my hair getting any lighter, or it improving the blonde color my hair already was, even after using this product for over a 2-month period.

I purchased mine at target. You can also find it in almost every shopping center, and drug stores ranging from $5 to $7.

PASS IT ON

I’d say yep, go out and buy it, it works wonderfully in combating knotty thick hair; however it won’t help much in the ‘poof’ department. You’re on your own with that issue, if you happen to find a magic puff-reducing product for girls with thick unruly hair, feel free to leave me a comment.

Bath and Body Works Signature Collection Moisturizing Conditioner Pink Grapefruit

Ahhh, summer is right around the corner, I can feel it in the air, I can feel it all around, and most of all I can feel it in my hair. I can smell it too.

Yeah, try not to get too jealous of me. I smell so good sometimes even I can’t resist myself. Hah!

But anyways, on a more serious note, Bath & Body Works has become a passion for me; there is nothing more I look forward to than to come home and soak in my tub after a day at work.

What’s waiting for me?
Tons of things actually, bath bombs, shower gels, and bath salts, the whole nine.
But while my body gets the works, my hair thirsts for treatment too.

I have thick hair, and occasionally thick wavy hair screams out for some moisture. My hair gets dry easily, and before meeting up with Bath & Body Works moisturizing conditioners I had been on a never-ending quest in trying out and hating hair products.

The signature collection has come to the rescue. I initially fell in love with the signature collection shampoos and conditioners one sweet day when I decided to buy 2 of them on a whim. A shampoo and a conditioner both of them were coconut lime verbena. The rest is history.

However my nostrils got bored with this scent. I wanted to try something new. Pink Grapefruit was the last scent on earth I would think I’d like.
With a 2 for $10 sale, I figured I might as well stock up in everything available. This is why Pink Grapefruit came home with me.

MY EXPERIENCE:

In the shower I first used Pink Grapefruit moisturizing shampoo. I always like the tag team, even though it’s not necessary.

Next the conditioner, it smells exactly like the shampoo. Delicious. I’m not even exaggerating when I say this conditioner smells just like someone magically transformed an actual pink grapefruit into a creamy white conditioner, and bottled it up. It’s really a genuine scent, and true to its name.

When I first squeezed some of the conditioner out of the easy to use click up cap I knew that this stuff was going to be good. It was creamy and luscious, and just nice feeling on my hand. Shoot it wasn’t even in m hair yet and I could tell it was going to do wonders.

Usually after I shampoo with anything, my hair is dry feeling and unmanageable, but with 2 quarter sized swoops of this in my hair; my hair suddenly began to untangled and become manageable again.

I let it sit in my hair for a good 3 minutes while I washed my body with some LUSH.

After washing it out of my hair I could immediately feel how soft and manageable my hair had become.

But I had to wait for it to dry to really get the full picture of how wonderful this conditioner was.

So time goes by… so slowly…and my hair begins to dry. I have my usual frizzes (it comes with the package for being born with a thick hair- dang genetics!), but I could truly see and feel a difference in my hair. It felt like it had gotten a nice long moisturizing treatment, when really it was only in my hair for 3 minutes.

After my hair completely dried, I was hooked. I am forever a signature collections conditioner client.

What was the best for me though was not the look or feel of my hair, but the scent that lingered in my hair for almost 2 days was wonderful. Summer surrounds me even on gloomy days. I’m in hair bliss; I am the hair God… envy me.

WHERE’S IT AT?

You can purchase this 12 ounce bottle at any Bath & Body Works store or online at www.bathandbodyworks.com for $7.50. However there seems to be a never-ending 2 for $10 sale going on with these bad boys. Get em’ while you can!

WHAT BATH & BODY WORKS SAYS:

Experience the tantalizing fragrance of ripe pink grapefruit plucked from the tree.
Domestic.

-For dry, damaged or color-treated hair (Yes, yes, that’s me!)
-Maximize your pampering experience with this superior moisturizing conditioner, available in our most popular Signature Collection scents (I wouldn’t call it “most” popular)
-Nourishing, pH-balanced formula seals moisture into each strand (Oh my!)
-Helps protect dry, color-treated or damaged hair against future damage (Yes it does)
-Leaves hair smoother and shinier (I can agree with that!)

OVERALL SATISFACTION:

Hmm this is tough…No its not!

Overall satisfaction would be a freakin’ 100%.

There honestly is not a bad thing I could say about this one, except that maybe the price is a bit much. But when you are getting salon like effects, the price is actually a steal if you think about it.

RECOMMENDATION:

Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Moisturizing Conditioner-Pink Grapefruit is great for anyone. I’m not a fan of grapefruit and I love it. The scent is subtle yet detectable by those you walk by. It leaves hair soft, manageable, shiny and moisturized.
That’s pretty much all I ever ask for out of a conditioner. Then they go and throw in that lovely scent… a 100% "yes" recommendation from me.
