Lush Karma Soap

Lush has been one of my many addictions when it comes to bath and beauty products.

I mostly hit the site up once every two months and fill my online shopping cart with hundreds of dollars worth of bathing goodies.

One of my first orders I was sure to include Karma Soap. I had heard from many people that this was the most overpowering and potent scented bar of soap they had ever used.

Many compared it to incense; Patchouli to be precise. A scent I myself have always loved.

What I Got:

Karma is a solid glycerin bar of soap. The soap itself is a bright happy colored orange.

The Scent:

I was smelling my Karma bar before I even opened my box. I knew what they meant when they said overpowering.

The moment I opened my box, the scent I had slightly detected coming off of the box was now in full bloom.

A huge blast of hippies came flying from the box. I wanted to pop in Grateful Dead and start jamming. Karma smells like incense indeed. Incense so powerful though, that just being exposed to air for a few seconds, and the entire room smelled like a hippie's pot smoking lair.

I could not wait to get into the shower with Karma. I couldn't wait to see what this powerful soap had to offer.

My Use:

Karma is strong. The moment hot water hit the soap, the scent went into overtime. It actually got so powerful that I was barely able to tolerate it. The room filled with the scent of patchouli, and the scent was sticking my skin like leeches.

Suds were bare minimal, but it didn't matter, because the soap did in fact leave my skin feeling clean.

After getting out of the shower, I had this hunch that Karma was with me to stay. God was I right... the patchouli scent stood with me all day, into the night, and into the next day. By the time I woke up the next morning, I was actually sick of smelling it.

Overall:

Karma is NOT for everyone. This 3.5 ounce bar of soap packs a powerful punch. If you cannot stomach the smell of patchouli, then avoid it. However if it is a scent you love, then Karma is a sure pleaser.

Recommendation:

Cut the 3.5 ounce bar into sample sized pieces, and store in a cool place. I put mine in the fridge.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner

John, I’m sorry about our past
issues I wanted to apologize, and let you know how much I adore all of your
hair conditioners. They have always done exactly as you promised. This is why I added the Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner to my already over sized line of your products.

You wrote on this bottle of 10oz worth of conditioner that this minty cool detangler would unsnarl surf side snags for smooth, and easy combing. Moisture-rich seaweed extracts and sunflower oil would quench sun-dried hair and that soothing aloe calms and conditions.

Sounded pretty neat, so John, I tried it. I assumed the seaweed extracts was why you labeled it with such a unique name. I was ready to put another one of your products to the test.

You tell me that it’s applied just like any ordinary conditioner, (use more or less depending on the length an thickness of your hair.) You first wash your hair with shampoo. –And you recommended washing my hair with your beach blonde smooth seas shampoo; however I find this to be unnecessary John, and also expensive, seeing how the conditioner alone cost about $7.50. Any shampoo will do fine, so really you can stop telling people that. Okay?!

You then tell me to let the conditioner set in my hair for 3 to 4 minutes, and rinse out, easy enough, same as every conditioner really. Do you really have to add that to the bottle? Just kidding!

So I squeezed some out and rubbed it into my hair evenly. The conditioner itself is not green like the bottle; it’s actually white, and very rich and creamy.
I was amazed at how it tingled my scalp the moment I began to rub it throughout my hair. It is sort of similar to brushing your teeth, that minty cool refreshing feeling, only for your head. It was definitely an experience my scalp had never gone through before.
The conditioner also has a nice pleasant mild scent. Sort of like a sea breeze scent mixed with some mint. I could see someone either loving or hating the scent. However you will smell no traces of it after your hair is dried so it’s really not that big of a deal. I like this John, because a lot of your products have this nasty chemically smell. You may want to work on that.

However John, the smooth seas conditioner is really great at cooling you off on a hot summer day, so I will forgive you for your other stinky products. I wish everyone would give your Beach Blond Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner a try. They really won’t be disappointed.

This is also a great conditioner to use after you’ve been swimming all day at the ocean. Its sort of what it was designed for right John?

I’m going to now move on and tell you how it worked for me.
I was promised snag free hair, and I got just that, after my shower I was able to run a comb through my hair without any problems at all. Thank you!
I was also promised that if I used this, my hair would have less frizz. I was not lied to. I did have fewer frizzes, and not only that but my hair was also extremely smoother. Thank you twice!

I am very happy with my purchase John. With about a month of daily use I was able to see a difference in my hair. The ends weren’t as dry and brittle as they once were. Thank you three times!

However John now that I have finished thanking you, I figured I might as well vent to you a little bit about the prices of your products. I mean they range from $7 plus. They’re a little expensive. So if you want people to buy both the shampoo and conditioner, you may want to consider lowering the prices, or heck, maybe throw in a few coupons into the Sunday newspaper every now and then. I mean really!

Not only that John but also this product only seems to be available at higher end stores. You may want to branch out a little bit and stock Wal-Mart up with these babies more often!

Also John you write on the bottle that it is for blonde's, I have to disagree. My mother who is a brunette also uses this and she loves it as well. You may want to let people know that it doesn’t matter what color hair they have, they too can use this particular conditioner. You may as well just delete the blond out of the name, and call it John Frieda’s Beach Smooth Seas Detangling Conditioner. What do you think?

I guess that seems to be the only issues I have with this product in particular. Other than that it’s excellent, I know I have already said this, but thanks for making such a great product. Just so you know, I’m also going to let all of my friends and family know how great this conditioner is.

I am also going to recommend your high beam glosser to everyone as well.

Bodycology Foaming Bath and Shower Gel

Why I bought Bodycology Foaming Bath & Shower Gel is beyond me. It was one of those crazy shopping whims I seem to have when I can’t balance my needs from my wants. Especially when it comes to bath products.

I really didn’t need it, but because I was about to purchase the coconut lime Body Bar I felt I HAD to have the shower gel as well. I know, it’s a sick habit. I’m ashamed of myself. I have no self-control!

However for only about $4 I felt this purchase was a win, not only that the bottle came with a reasonable 17.2oz of product. You can’t beat that, especially when the scent happens to be coconut lime.

The lime in da coke you nut, song danced in my head and I happily went marching to the counter. Score! Mine!

IN THE STORE SCENT:

In the store it smelled delish! Coconut with a subtle hint of lime, it reminded me of the lime coconut products I have purchased at Bath & Body Works in the past, only Bodycology’s coconut lime was for a fraction of the cost.

HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?

Well, I used about a quarter sized amount on my shower puff, the product itself comes out of a push up cap, and is a pearly lime green in color. (It didn’t stain my puff though, and the color went to white once I got a lather going.)

I began the procedure of rubbing the puff around my body, and wow, wow, wow, this was a lather like no other, it was thick like foam (thus the name ‘foaming’ bath and shower gel) and it felt extremely moisturizing.

Just as I began to allow myself to enjoy the lather I realized something, it felt just like I was rubbing shaving cream all over my body.
Now because of this thought in my head (of rubbing shaving cream everywhere) I was sort of turned off by the whole feeling of it.

Hmm… it doesn’t smell like shaving cream though…sniff…sniff… wait…

‘Where is the smell’?

IN THE SHOWER SCENT…

That’s right, I could barely detect that I was using a coconut lime scented wash. The smell was barely detectable, I had to bring the puff to my face to get a slight whiff of the scent.
It was a faded, very, very faded lime scent. It sort of reminded me of extremely watered down suntan lotion. Bleh!

I rinsed off, and my skin felt like it still had the product stuck to it, almost like it had created a gelatinous layer of skin.
I felt disgusting, I had to reach for one of my Bath & Body Work 3 in 1’s to rid myself of this eel like layer that Bodycology’s foaming bath and shower gel caused.

Never again will I give in to a cheap whim like this. I will stick to my more expensive brands, even if it means taking a big dip into the wallet every now and then. This is nothing more than a knock off of Bath & Body Works lime and coconut scented products.

OVERALL: The scent is almost non-existent; it covers your entire body in what feels like a layer of eel skin, or a layer of slime after you wash it off.

It’s a mess just like the body bar. Avoid it, save your $4 for something better.

RECOMMENDATION: None. (Or eels)

Lush, Karma Soap

This is one potent son of a gun! I ordered LUSH Karma soap because someone actually recommended I try it.

I was hesitant at first because the lack of positive reviews made me nervous. However, like I have said in my LUSH reviews in the past, I usually like what everyone else dislikes.

Karma soap took me to a place that I usually frequent in my local mall. Not a head shop, but a witch’s shop. Where tarot cards and magic books like the walls. Crystal balls in any size shape and color can be found here, yet there is something else about this little shop that makes it attractive to me. It’s not the beads that line the walls, nor is it the love spells, and revenge spells that the books promise. It’s the scent that lingers through half of the mall. The scent that practically speaks, saying, “Come visit me”. That scent is nag champa.

This is the first initial scent I inhaled when I opened my order from LUSH. I had 3 other soaps in there, but one screamed out above all the rest. “I’m here!”

I was excited, I immediately began cutting the Karma bar into smaller sized pieces because LUSH soaps are prone to melting really fast if you bring the whole bar in the shower with you.

This particular soap was powerful. It was like no other LUSH soap I had ever smelled before. It had that extra zing, and boy did it stink! (But in a good way of course) I cannot deny the nag champa incense scent that this soap gives off, but there is also another subtle hint of herbs in this soap. I was able to detect a faint smell of patchouli and something I just can’t put my finger on. The really is no other way to describe it other than saying, it smells like a witchy type shop. Hehe.

I didn’t even need to shower to have the scent stick with me. The glycerin type soap was a little slimy in texture to me while I was cutting it, and some of the soap stuck to my fingers. Even after washing them off, the scent stood with me for hours. I mean hours! And strong!

HE LIKES IT!

My boyfriend who isn’t too fond of my shower-shopping obsession even likes it. Which is odd because usually he is the one telling me I spend too much money on this hobby. (Yeah he calls it a hobby!) He thinks it smells like a head shop, but me, I smell a witch shop. So to each his own.

HOW IS IT?

Well to be honest I was a little nervous to use this one on my entire body in the shower. After washing my hands with it, I reeked of the scent. I liked it, but I wasn’t too sure if those around me would appreciate it.

I used it on my day off instead. I didn’t want to stink the place up because of my soap.

Karma soap is a deep orange tangerine color, however when you work up lather you will see that it is not going to drip orange and reds all over the place. It’s a clean refreshing bar, and it suds are white, not orange.

However it takes a little arm power to work up lather. But if you keep at it, you get somewhat of a lather going on.

Boy this bar smells though once warm water hits it. It was the most potent shower I have ever had. I have never in my life been so overwhelmed with a scent before. I loved it, but I could definitely see how some people might find this in the shower experience gagful.

Karma soap is an acquired scent. That’s the only way to describe it.

If you never like the smell of witch shops or head shops than I would avoid it completely. However if you enjoy these types of scents, then the Karma soap is a wonderful comforting and warm scent.

DRY TIME:

After drying up I didn’t feel like the soap had done anything for my skin, but leave it stinking wonderfully, it did however make me feel clean so, I was willing to let that slide. Soap with this much POW deserves a little slack.

STINK-O-METER-

This is the great gusto. I was able to smell this soap for more than 24 hours on my skin after using it in the shower. I used it in the morning, and I could still smell it when I went to bed.
When I woke up, there it was again, as strong as ever. I was amazed, however I didn’t like the scent greeting me in the morning. I usually wake up with a groggy stomach, so having this scent overwhelm me, and wake me from my sleep was a bit too much.

WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE THAT?

Because it contains Propylene Glycol, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Patchouli Oil (Pogostemon cablin), Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Lavendin Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Pine Oil (Pinus), Lemongrass Oil (Cymbopogan flexuosus), Elemi Oil (Canarium commune), Sodium Chloride, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), FD&C Red No. 4,

HOW MUCH?

Karma soap sells for $7.60 for a 3.5oz bar. However prices may vary depending on cut in LUSH stores. I would recommend buying at LUSH stores rather than online at www.LUSH.com, the shipping price is ridiculous on the site!

OVERALL

LUSH Karma Soap is by far one of my favorite soaps from Lush. I am ordering this again and again, and I cannot wait to add some more products from LUSH’s Karma collection.

RECOMMENDATION:

I would recommend this only to those who enjoy the incense type scents, and those who wouldn’t mind having the scent linger on them for 24 hours or more. It’s a really powerful soap, and it’s not meant for those with a weak stomach for strong scents.

TIPS-

-You can leave a small cut of this soap on a counter in a room and the room will smell of it for hours even after you remove the soap.

-Leave leftover soap in a cool dry place or in the refrigerator.

Bath and Body Works Signature Collection Moisturizing Conditioner Pink Grapefruit

Ahhh, summer is right around the corner, I can feel it in the air, I can feel it all around, and most of all I can feel it in my hair. I can smell it too.

Yeah, try not to get too jealous of me. I smell so good sometimes even I can’t resist myself. Hah!

But anyways, on a more serious note, Bath & Body Works has become a passion for me; there is nothing more I look forward to than to come home and soak in my tub after a day at work.

What’s waiting for me?
Tons of things actually, bath bombs, shower gels, and bath salts, the whole nine.
But while my body gets the works, my hair thirsts for treatment too.

I have thick hair, and occasionally thick wavy hair screams out for some moisture. My hair gets dry easily, and before meeting up with Bath & Body Works moisturizing conditioners I had been on a never-ending quest in trying out and hating hair products.

The signature collection has come to the rescue. I initially fell in love with the signature collection shampoos and conditioners one sweet day when I decided to buy 2 of them on a whim. A shampoo and a conditioner both of them were coconut lime verbena. The rest is history.

However my nostrils got bored with this scent. I wanted to try something new. Pink Grapefruit was the last scent on earth I would think I’d like.
With a 2 for $10 sale, I figured I might as well stock up in everything available. This is why Pink Grapefruit came home with me.

MY EXPERIENCE:

In the shower I first used Pink Grapefruit moisturizing shampoo. I always like the tag team, even though it’s not necessary.

Next the conditioner, it smells exactly like the shampoo. Delicious. I’m not even exaggerating when I say this conditioner smells just like someone magically transformed an actual pink grapefruit into a creamy white conditioner, and bottled it up. It’s really a genuine scent, and true to its name.

When I first squeezed some of the conditioner out of the easy to use click up cap I knew that this stuff was going to be good. It was creamy and luscious, and just nice feeling on my hand. Shoot it wasn’t even in m hair yet and I could tell it was going to do wonders.

Usually after I shampoo with anything, my hair is dry feeling and unmanageable, but with 2 quarter sized swoops of this in my hair; my hair suddenly began to untangled and become manageable again.

I let it sit in my hair for a good 3 minutes while I washed my body with some LUSH.


After washing it out of my hair I could immediately feel how soft and manageable my hair had become.

But I had to wait for it to dry to really get the full picture of how wonderful this conditioner was.

So time goes by… so slowly…and my hair begins to dry. I have my usual frizzes (it comes with the package for being born with a thick hair- dang genetics!), but I could truly see and feel a difference in my hair. It felt like it had gotten a nice long moisturizing treatment, when really it was only in my hair for 3 minutes.

After my hair completely dried, I was hooked. I am forever a signature collections conditioner client.

What was the best for me though was not the look or feel of my hair, but the scent that lingered in my hair for almost 2 days was wonderful. Summer surrounds me even on gloomy days. I’m in hair bliss; I am the hair God… envy me.

Hmm this is tough…No its not!

Overall satisfaction would be a freakin’ 100%.

There honestly is not a bad thing I could say about this one, except that maybe the price is a bit much. But when you are getting salon like effects, the price is actually a steal if you think about it.

RECOMMENDATION:

Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Moisturizing Conditioner-Pink Grapefruit is great for anyone. I’m not a fan of grapefruit and I love it. The scent is subtle yet detectable by those you walk by. It leaves hair soft, manageable, shiny and moisturized.
That’s pretty much all I ever ask for out of a conditioner. Then they go and throw in that lovely scent… a 100% "yes" recommendation from me.

Lush, Big Blue Bath Bomb Review

I am not much of a bath person. Showers have always been my passion, but because of the latest LUSH hype, I had to give one of their bath bombs a try.

I didn’t want to purchase a sissy one; I wanted a big one, the biggest! Big blue was right there, his name was calling me, and his price was low. I added him to my cart, and wondered what my bath bomb would be like before it even got to me.

I imagined bathing in a spa like atmosphere, the scent of lemon and lavender surrounding me and drowning my senses with its lovely overpowering scent.

When it did arrive, I wad not shocked by it’s large 6.3oz size. I have used bath bombs before, and have seen big ones like this.
I planned on cutting it in half and saving the other half for another bath like others on the site recommended. However when I tried to do this, things proved to be close to impossible. I realized it was going to make a big mess, and I’d end up with a bunch of crumbs.

I ran my bath, and plopped the whole Big Blue in.
Unlike other bombs I have tried in the past, Big Blue actually floated, and sort of let out a small amount of foam. It was nothing impressive though.

While fizzing away the bomb was also releasing seaweed. At first I was grossed out, it looked creature like, yet exotic.

THE SMELL

Big Blue let off a subtle scent. It was nothing beautiful, and it was sort of boyish. It was a mix of lemon, and some sort of herb that I cannot quite pin. The lemon was not like yum, yum lemon drop lemon, it was more like the scent you get when you make yourself a cup of warm Theraflu. Basically it’s a scent I recall when I’m sick.

THE SEA-MESS

The supposed swirls of seaweed like the site says didn’t swirl at all. They sunk to the bottom and scratched lightly at my body. It was not a pleasant feeling; it was as if I was bathing on top of grains of dirt.

THE WATER

Usually when I take any sort of bath I add things into the water, and even with the cheapest Calgon powdered bath spas the water usually feels smooth and silky. This was not the case with Big Blue.
I felt no difference in my water. It was a nice blueish teal color, yes, but it did nothing for me. It was almost as if I had just thrown dye into the water and threw in chunks of seaweed, and added a tsp. of Theraflu for scent. I could have done this for close to nothing in cost. Big Blue cost me $5.40. Usually when I spend $5 on bath bombs I get 4 or 5 of them anywhere else.

I figured if I allowed myself to sit in the tub long enough I would grow to enjoy it. However as the water got cooler, my anger grew hotter. I felt ripped off.
There was nothing exciting about Big Blue. The gobs of seaweed under my butt skeeved me out as time went on, and eventually I said ‘screw it’, and hopped out.

I dried up expecting some sort of moisturization to my body. However I got none of this. Big Blue was a waste of money. It did nothing.
I pulled the plug on my drain and walked out disappointed. Never again Big Blue. Never again.

HAAR HAAR HAAR… THAT’S WHAT YOU THINK!

The next day my boyfriend comes up to me and tells me we need to pour something down the tub drain.

“Why?”

“There are black worms everywhere!” He replied in a panic.

I laughed. I knew what he was referring to. I knew that Big Blue must have left some seaweed behind, even though I was imagining they would of all went down the drain.

I went in and took a look. I was expecting to see ‘some’ seaweed. Not an entire layer of it caking the whole tub. Uch!

I got down on my hands and knees and began scooping up handfuls of it. Ewwie! It left brown poop colored skid marks as I began scooping it up.

So Big Blue disappoints me again. He left a big nasty mess behind, and he didn’t even do anything for my skin. The scent was medicinal, and the whole thing was just a big pathetic mess!


OVERALL:

I guess I’m an unappreciative mermaid! Hmph.

RECOMMENDATION:

None. Big Blue is a failure. It serves no purpose other than to dye your tub water, and leave a big disgusting mess behind.

Softsoap Pomegranate & Mango Moisturizing Body Wash

I have never smelled a pomegranate. I think that is a good thing, because I can describe this ones scent to those of you who have also never smelled one either.

First and foremost I will say that it is not usual for me to buy a bath product at Eckerd’s, but when I saw this stylish bottle staring me down called soft soap in pomegranate and Mango, the wash itself was a light maroon color, with odd floating beads inside.

The bottle itself is an odd oval like shape with a built in click top lid, with a gorgeous picture on the cover of the fruit.

I had to scoop it up and figure out what it was all about.

Ah ha, the cute purplish white floating beads throughout the bottle of body wash is moisture beads! Wow! I clicked open the top and took in a whiff… it smelled fantastic! It was fruity, oh yeah fruity!

It reminded me of fresh cherries with a hint of tangerine/grapefruit, and the mango scent was very subtle yet apparent.

I couldn’t wait to get home and give it a try. At only $4.99 I felt like I was getting a bargain. Usually my body washes run me around $15 a bottle. And for a decent amount too, at 18oz I felt like I was getting the deal of a lifetime.

Where To Buy?

I found my bottle at Eckerd’s, but it can also be found in grocery stores, other drug stores, and Target. I’m sure they carry it in WalMart as well.

Use:

I squeezed out a quarter sized amount into my pouf, and the lovely smell hit my nose, as I began to run the gel into my skin I could smell the sweet fragrance filling up the entire room, and I hoped it would last like my Lush products do. The bottle itself claims to be gentle enough to use as a shave gel. I guess though that you would have to test it out for yourself to know whether or not that is true.

The lather was moisturizing and silky. I liked it, I actually liked it! I honestly had doubted it, seeing how it was cheap, and made from a company I had never heard of before. I have used many, many different body washes, but the moisturizing lather I got from soft soap left the others in the dirt when it came to the silky feeling I got from pomegranate mango body wash.

I actually had a hard time rinsing all of the left over soap off of my pouf. I was covered in suds within just a few moments of rubbing back and forth, and the smell, the glorious smell. I was actually thinking of drying off quickly and purchasing the rest of the available scents.

Dry Time:

I was really hoping the scent would last on my skin after I dried off, I honestly thought it would too after the luscious thick lather I got from it in the shower. I was able to smell it slightly for about 10 minutes afterwards, but it dissipated into nothing after that.

Not only that my skin also felt the same. I truly thought I would feel moisturized afterwards, but the product failed in this department. I’m guessing the pretty moisture beads are stuck in the bottle for show.

Overall:

Now after all of that is said and done, I most likely will still continue to buy it, even though it provides nothing for my skin afterwards, I enjoy the rich silky lather, and lovely scent it gives off in the shower. I don’t really have an issue with dry skin on my legs or body, so the scent is really all I am ever after.

I’ve gotten the same result from $20 bottles of shower wash, so for this one to be only $5, it’s a star in my eyes.

I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a fruity scented IN shower experience, because after that this wash is pretty much useless when it comes to hydration.

Philosophy Peach Shampoo, Shower Gel and Bubble Bath

My lovely cousin gave me a fruit basket; only none of it was edible. All of my fruit were philosophy fruits, and my what a collection I got!

Peach has never been one of my favorite scents to use in the shower, for some reason it always turns my stomach, so I saved this one in the back of the basket and waited quite some time before I was feeling peachy, and gave it a try.

What Is It?

It is a 3 in 1 bath product in the scent of peach from Philosophy. You can use it as shampoo, bubble bath, or as body wash.

Packaging:

The bottle itself is white, with a gorgeous realistic 3D peach on the cover. Its attractive, I’ll give it that. Above the pretty picture of the each the words ‘be a peach’.

Price:

I didn’t ask her how much she spent, but I’m batting she either grabbed this whole collection up for dirt cheap at her job, or she hit the jackpot at a yard sale. (This sort of jackpot is not uncommon while yard sale hunting where I am from)

Anyhow, on the philosophy site this exact bottle is being sold for $16 for 16oz. Okay a buck an ounce. Not too bad.

Or so I thought… until I smelled it.

It reminded me of peaches yes, but they lacked that juicy fresh oomph that I was expecting for such a pricey bottle. I have mouth watered from bath product scents before, and much cheaper prices too. This one though it was for me it was borderline ok/blah.
Eh oh well, I used it anyway.

Shower:

I applied it to my wet hair first, and then moved on to my shower pouf.

The gel itself is a pearly peachy color, and I only needed a quarter-sized amount on my shower pouf. The smell was lingering in the air, but again it was a dull scented peachy smell that lingered. There was nothing special about it, and yes, this was the fake peach scent garbage that always turns my stomach.

The lather was thick and created a lot of ‘loose’ type bubbles. It was not luscious, nor silky or moisturizing feeling.
Blah. I rinsed off, and it left no greasy feelings of residue behind, so it passed in that department.

My hair felt nice though after rinsing it out. I find a lot of Philosophy’s 3 in 1’s used as shampoo as enjoyable. But gag! The scent!

Luckily the scent left me as soon as I dried off. This was not a scent I would want sticking around continuing to turn my tum.

Bath:

I refused to step foot into this one. Usually I enjoy my baths but the scent was not my cup of tea. But I ran this one under the water just to see how it preformed in the bubble-making department solely for this review.

Bubbles popped up the moment water hit them, and the scent hit the air in full sickening bloom. However they began popping just as quickly as they began popping up.

After the tub was filled I had a small layer of duds… I mean suds. They died out in less than 5 minutes.

Overall:

I just was not impressed with this at all. As a matter of fact most of the products I have tried from this supposedly reputable company has failed for me; scent wise. I do however enjoy them as shampoo for my hair type, but honestly it’s nothing a shampoo from a dollar store can’t do.

Recommendation:

To each his own really. It smells like fake peaches, failed 2 out of 3 tests. As far as hydrating my skin goes it failed there too.
It’s also way too expensive for what it gives back, which isn’t very much at all.

Lush, Sultana of Soap

As you probably already can see. I love Lush. Sometimes though it is a hit or miss with them, and sometimes you find something that you know you will purchase time and time again.

My all time favorite soap by Lush goes to Sultana!


Sultana of Soap that is:

On the lush.com website it looked inviting, and reminded me of a cut of chocolate chip cheesecake. But nothing of the sort was actually in it. There are chunks of apricots, currents, and cranberries according to the site.

You too may obtain some Sultana on the website for only $4.95 which is actually pretty cheap when it comes to Lush soaps. I was nervous thinking that perhaps this stuff was garbage seeing how it’s price was so low and I was still getting the normal Lush 3.5oz bar.

You can also grab the same soap up at any local Lush if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby. At the store you can obtain an even larger piece if you desire. Sultana is handmade soap that originally gets cut from a giant ‘mother’ block.

STICKY ICKY ICKY…

That’s right; Sultana soap came a little messy. It was not melted, but even if I touched it it felt as if it were melting under my fingertips. This made me nervous, because if it was melting just from the heat of my fingers, I wondered how it would withstand a warm shower.

Usually I cut all of my Lush soaps into sample-sized chunks so I can save the rest. (In a cool dry place or the fridge). My Sultana looked nothing like it did on the website, for one, my soap was a regular square shaped piece of soap. It was a lovely tan whitish color; on the top of the bar I could detect pieces of fruits, and swear mine had some sort of nuts in it.

Stinky, I love you Stinky!

Oh did she smell, but lovely. I was in love with the scent, and this is why I had to give Sultana a try before bothering with the rest of my goods in the order. I could definitely detect a slight refreshing scent of apricots.

I didn’t smell any cranberry or current. It smelled like apricots mixed with almonds. I know almonds aren’t even in the mix of the goods, but I swear mine had nuts, and this very well could have accidentally been added into my soap.
Well I’m glad for the mishap. I enjoyed the scent.

SHOWER TIME!!!

I took a piece of a sample cut into the shower with me expecting it to melt the moment humidity hit the air from my hot water. However it sat in the soap dish just fine while I did the whole hair thing.

I rubbed the bar all around my body and was surprised by it’s fast acting lather. It was not a sudsy bubbly lather, but it was a creamy lotion like one, which was different and not bad at all.

I got a good scrubbing out of the sample piece, and then towards the near end I could feel scratchy particles, which I guess, were supposed to exfoliate. However the scratchy feeling was not really hard enough to really exfoliate anything. I didn’t mind. I hate exfoliation particles in my soap.

However I sort of got skeeved when the soap began to release these shavings of nuts or apricots, (whatever they were?) to my skin. Not only that raisins… yes raisins, (not dried up cranberries as Lush describes) were falling to the floor.

In my sample piece there were only 2 in the soap, but I honestly had no idea why Lush added them? There was no way in hell these raisins were going down the drain. So I had to pick them up.

Sultana could be a messy headache, if you happen to bring in the whole bar and have this gunk flinging to the floor. 2 raisins in my shower floor were not bad, but I couldn’t imagine what it’d look like if you brought the whole 3.5oz bar in with you.

All in all though my Sultana sample sized cut lasted for the majority of the shower, and my cut was actually bigger than what I needed.

After:

My skin did feel slightly moisturized after using Sultana, but it was nothing huge. What was huge though for me, and always a major plus was the scent that lasted and lasted on my skin throughout the day. I was in heaven with myself.
The almond apricot scent stood with me, and this is why I love Lush, and keep coming back for more.

Overall:

Sultana Of Soap is another product from Lush than I can happily say I will be reordering over and over again. I wish they’d leave out the messy raisins though, seeing how they do nothing but fall from the soap leaving a mess behind on the floor.

Recommended?

Oh yeah, Sultana is a keeper. I’d recommend it, but I’m off to buying it all. Mine! All mine! None for you! Mine! Mine! Mine!

Lush, Sandstone Soap

Sandstone- the name just sounds painful.

Sandstone is soap from Lush that comes with sand attached to the top of the bar of soap; the soap itself is yellow in color and has some clear like white specks of soap in it as well. The sand is used for exfoliation, the soap for moisturization.

I got my free sample from Lush, because this was surely not a soap I would order on my own. Even the lovely picture on the Lush website looks like someone dipped the end of the soap into grits of sandpaper. Lush has this tendency to add odd objects into their products such as seaweed, flowers, confetti, glitter, and fruit. I don’t mind this so much, but sand belongs at the beach, not on my body, not for scrubba dub dubbin in the tubbin.

Because I refuse to waste anything without at least trying it first I had to use my sample cut of Sandstone.

The smell was similar to Lush’s Sexy Peel, but it smelled a little more chemically and fake. Pine Sol rings a bell, Mr. Clean lemon scented floor wash also rings a bell, and pledge. I used it anyways though.

I first rinsed my hair, shampoo/condition, la di dah dii doo. This is always done first to put the Lush soap through the test of time. You see, many Lush soaps have this tendency to melt fast when warm humid air touches it. Sandstone however was like a stone. It took it. It lasted, and only began to sweat at the temperature increase in the bathroom.

I then took the sample soap and began rubbing it all around, scruba dub dub.
At first the sand sort of stood to one end of the bar, but the more I began to scrub and produce lather the more sand came loose and ended up on the entire bar of soap.

It felt gross, but I was indeed getting exfoliation. I rubbed the soap around lightly so I didn’t cut myself, or drag it across my beauty mark on my chest (mole), I figured if I dragged it across my ‘beauty mark’ it would hurt like a son of a gun.

It didn’t take long to see my skin blotching up with red rashes from the sands scratchy surface.

The entire time I felt dirty. It reminded me of the times when I was a wee one and I’d be at the ocean and a wave would clobber me, filling my bathing suit with sand and water, leaving me with the most uncomfortable scrubby feeling.

The sand washed off with some effort. It didn’t take long, but it took far longer than it should have.

Dry Up:

My skin felt like it had just has a good scrubbing with a high textured piece of sandpaper. I was red all over, and still felt dirty, even after washing all of the sand off (Or so I had thought). I had some particles of sand left in areas I care not to talk about.

The lemon scent of the soap had vanished, and all I was left with was raw skin, sand up my keester, and a bad mood.

I ended up jumping back into the shower, and rinsing off with a body wash to make the sick feeling go away.

Overall:

I don’t have sensitive skin, but according to Sandstone I do. It hurt to use it, makes you feel dirty before and after using it. Smell like furniture polish or floor cleaner. Does not moisturize my skin at all. Leaves it raw.
Usually I enjoy my shower, and my Lush goods, but Sandstone was a flop.

Those used to using abrasive exfoliation on there skin. Everyone who is not used to rubbing themselves down with sandpaper should avoid Sandstone.

Lush: The Comforter Bubble Bar

My first reaction when I learned about ‘Bubble Bars’ on Lush.com I immediately assumed it was a hard thick bar that would do nothing to my water except melt in it, and maybe make it smell good.

What is a Bubble Bar was my second thought, after reading reviews on it, and Lush’s descriptions on the site and in there magazine Lush Life, I came to learn that a Bubble Bar is a semi solid bar that you crumble underneath running water to create luscious piles of bubbles.

I knew I had to try one, so I choose the biggest one available. A 7oz colossal called The Comforter. The size is what attracted me, and so did the color.

The Comforter Bubble Bar is a lovely deep pink color with swirls of white creating a hypnotizing endless circle pattern throughout the bar. However I was not relying on the picture on the Lush site seeing how so many of their products usually fail to look like what you actually get.

My Comforter Bar however looked just like the picture on www.Lush.com, only much, much bigger, and more rectangular shaped. I knew from the start I did not need to throw the whole bar into the tub, so I cut it into 4 separate pieces and only use one piece. Cutting it was an extremely easy task. The bar was not hard and crunchy, like I was expecting it to be. It was soft to the touch, and felt silky.

The scent reminded me of the Rockstar soap. But in case you have not used Rockstar, the scent of Comforter can be compared to candy and wildflowers in my opinion.

Let's Go Catch Some Bubbles Shall We?

I ran my water and began crumbling Comforter in my hands. The bar crumbled easily and fell to the bottom of the tub. I watched as bubbles began to develop, and sighed when the bubbles did not overflow in my tub like so many others have reported.

I left the bathroom to grab a towel, and when I came back in it was a whole new story. The bar must of needed some time to completely melt, because I had a tub full of bubbles when I returned!

Not cheesy pop in 3 minutes bubbles, I mean a complete bubble fest. For the first time in my life I watched as some mini bubbles that broke from the mother ship floated through the air above the tub. It may have just been 2 baby bubbles in the air, but it was enough to make me smile.

I stepped into the tub, and could feel how smooth and silky The Comforter bar made my water. Not only that, I was able to see that Comforter also turned my water a lovely light pink. I saw the water for about 3 seconds, and then the bubbles completely wrapped me up.

I soaked in my lovely candy scented water, and enjoyed the whole experience. The Comforter bar stands true to its name. It is seriously comforting and relaxing. I enjoyed soaking in my bath for about 20 minutes. I then got out, and bubbles were still present. I actually felt bad saying goodbye, as I watched the remaining bubbles go down the drain and leave foam all around the sides of the tub and drain hole.

Not only was the bath a pleasure, but my skin also felt soft and silky after drying up.

Overall Opinion:

Now that’s a bubble bath! I see myself buying Comforter bubble bar for years to come.

Anyone who is sick of taking bubble baths where the bubbles die out in 5 minutes needs to try The Comforter Bubble Bar.

Lush, The Sicilian Bath Bomb

A Citrus Wonerland
Let me just tell you about the most ultimate bath I have ever had in my life. It was like soaking in a tub filled with warm freshly squeezed oranges. A little tropical paradise of my own, and the best thing about it...it came packed in a 6.3 ounce bath bomb.

Lushes The Sicilian Bath Bomb!!!!

The bath bomb came packaged in clear wrap, with an easy to read slit of paper that clearly labels the bomb The Sicilian; it also includes all of the ingredients on the bomb. For large orders you make online, you will be grateful for the added piece of paper, because sometimes the bombs look alike.

The Sicilian in particular has a faded pastel yellow color to it. Upon examination it appeared that the bomb had small pieces of something within it. Lush is legendary for doing such things; adding little tidbits of herbs or spices within their bombs. To me its like an added little mysterious bonus.

In The Sicilians case, these added extras were pieces of orange pulp.

After I added it to my bath tub, it was clear that the middle of the bomb contained yet another treat; an actual slice of orange.

Now out of the package The Sicilian Bath Bomb didn't smell of much, but as soon as it hit the water it was as if someone had just squeezed a bucket or oranges on top of me. The scent of oranges was not fake, commercial or unnatural in the least bit. It was like inhaling 100% pure orange juice.

The scent was impeccable.

Let me tell you how my skin feels though.

In the bath, the tub didn't really turn into a silky paradise like other bombs can do, but my God my skin was so clean, and felt so moisturized and soft after drying up.

For an even extra added bonus, I suggest you use Lushes Lemon Peel Soap. It really adds to the whole citrusy wonder.

If you love the scent of oranges, than The Sicilian will not disappoint. It is so far one of the best bombs I have used yet, and I have used quite a lot of Lushes bath bombs. The Sicilian tonight managed to grab the number 1 spot on my list.
