Lush Rock Star Soap

I ordered LUSH Rock Star soap only because most of the reviews I have read pretty much praise it. This soap was actually the main reason for my LUSH order. I had to try it. I wanted to experience the trip to the candy shop in my bathroom. I wanted to bathe in cotton candy; I wanted to be taken back to my childhood, even if it is only a 10-minute flashback.

I’m not really a soap person. Usually I’m content with my Bath & Body Works body washes and 3 in 1’s. However I just had to try LUSH, anything LUSH. It seems it’s all everyone ever talks about. LUSH, LUSH, LUSH! I thought of it in my dreams. Plus I had to fit in I mean gez, peer pressure!

ANYWAYS:

LUSH Rock Star soap is a pretty creamy looking pink. The moment I opened my box and saw it, I noticed how different it looked from what was displayed on the Internet website. Yes it was a creamy pink soap, but the pink looked almost like it had a gray tint to it. Not ugly, but certainly not beautiful. I was hoping my bar wasn’t expired or worse, rotten.

IT WASN’T SIGNED, BUT IT WAS SEALED, AND DELIVERED…

My Rock Star bar came in a clear plastic wrap with a deli like label on it. However like with my other LUSH soaps mine did not come with an expiration date, or a marking of any sort on who made my soap. Too bad for me I guess, maybe this bar is expired, and they didn’t want to fess up to it. Grrr!

HOW MUCH?

Rock Star soap sells for $7.60 for a 3.5oz bar. Which for me was a little high for soap. But my want for things always wins over needs. I didn’t need it, but I sure did want it. So I splurged, I’m guilty, shoot me!

STINK-O-METER:
I could detect a slight smell through the wrap, it wasn’t strong or overpowering like I thought it would be either. I opened the wrap, and the smell hit me. The first thought that popped into my head was cherries. But not a fresh real cherry, again I smelled the same smell I had inhaled when I first used Angel's Delight, fruit punch powdered drink mix! Man! It sort of reminded me of it, but it smelled a lot sweeter.

I cut my Rock Star bar into sample-sized pieces because LUSH soap has a tendency to melt fast. So I wanted to save it for as long as possible. The creamy bar cut easily and I noticed it was sort of sticky. I got about 7 or 8 sample-sized pieces, which was plenty. I took one out of the batch, and put the left over ones in the refrigerator.

SHOWER TIME!

I wanted to use this one fast because I was afraid that if I shampooed and conditioned, then used the soap it would of melted in the shower while waiting for me. So I used it first, then saved half to use after. Smart thinking in case it vanished.

I was surprised at how nice and creamy the lather got. It wasn’t much of a lather, but it felt nice on my skin.

The smell was okay, and I did like it. But I surely was not drooling over it, and I didn’t detect the scent of cotton candy, or lollipops, or anything of the sort. I smelled cherry kool-aid, and cough syrup. It wasn’t an overbearing scent, but it also wasn’t wonderful.
I was thinking that perhaps this was like the Angel’s Delight soap, that maybe the nice smell would be detectable on m skin after I dried off.

SHAKE OFF!

Once I got out of the shower, dried up and put my nose to my arm I didn’t smell a thing. I thought that I’d at least get an hour or 2 of scent lingering on my body. But I got nothing.

My skin however did feel smoother and moisturized, so that was a plus even though the smell vanished.

Now here is where things get weird. The second time I used the soap, the smell did stay with me, and it was subtle and nice. So I don’t know what the deal is with this bar, but it works sometimes, and other times it doesn’t leave a scent behind at all. However the second time using it, the smell was so weak that probably only I could smell it. No one else even complimented, so that’s why I believe so.
The slight scent that I wad able to smell on my skin for about an hour was watered down cough medicine. Now maybe I’m just weird, but I sort of don’t mind that smell. Where for others it could be horrible.

WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE THAT?
Because it contains Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Perfume, Titanium Dioxide, Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Glycerine, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Editronate, D&C Red No. 33,

WANT SOME?

You can find this particular soap at any local LUSH store, or online. I would recommend getting it at the store if possible. Shipping rates are ridiculous.

RECOMMENDATION:

Yes, I’d recommend the Rock Star bar. It is a nice smelling soap, however with a purchase of it, I feel it’s a 50/50 chance you get a bad bar. The lather was a nice feeling on my skin, and the way it made my skin feel after drying off was a major plus.

I probably will purchase this again when it runs out, but It’s definitely not a must have if I do run out. I could live without it.

Lush, Karma Soap

This is one potent son of a gun! I ordered LUSH Karma soap because someone actually recommended I try it.

I was hesitant at first because the lack of positive reviews made me nervous. However, like I have said in my LUSH reviews in the past, I usually like what everyone else dislikes.

Karma soap took me to a place that I usually frequent in my local mall. Not a head shop, but a witch’s shop. Where tarot cards and magic books like the walls. Crystal balls in any size shape and color can be found here, yet there is something else about this little shop that makes it attractive to me. It’s not the beads that line the walls, nor is it the love spells, and revenge spells that the books promise. It’s the scent that lingers through half of the mall. The scent that practically speaks, saying, “Come visit me”. That scent is nag champa.

This is the first initial scent I inhaled when I opened my order from LUSH. I had 3 other soaps in there, but one screamed out above all the rest. “I’m here!”

I was excited, I immediately began cutting the Karma bar into smaller sized pieces because LUSH soaps are prone to melting really fast if you bring the whole bar in the shower with you.

This particular soap was powerful. It was like no other LUSH soap I had ever smelled before. It had that extra zing, and boy did it stink! (But in a good way of course) I cannot deny the nag champa incense scent that this soap gives off, but there is also another subtle hint of herbs in this soap. I was able to detect a faint smell of patchouli and something I just can’t put my finger on. The really is no other way to describe it other than saying, it smells like a witchy type shop. Hehe.

I didn’t even need to shower to have the scent stick with me. The glycerin type soap was a little slimy in texture to me while I was cutting it, and some of the soap stuck to my fingers. Even after washing them off, the scent stood with me for hours. I mean hours! And strong!

HE LIKES IT!

My boyfriend who isn’t too fond of my shower-shopping obsession even likes it. Which is odd because usually he is the one telling me I spend too much money on this hobby. (Yeah he calls it a hobby!) He thinks it smells like a head shop, but me, I smell a witch shop. So to each his own.

HOW IS IT?

Well to be honest I was a little nervous to use this one on my entire body in the shower. After washing my hands with it, I reeked of the scent. I liked it, but I wasn’t too sure if those around me would appreciate it.

I used it on my day off instead. I didn’t want to stink the place up because of my soap.

Karma soap is a deep orange tangerine color, however when you work up lather you will see that it is not going to drip orange and reds all over the place. It’s a clean refreshing bar, and it suds are white, not orange.

However it takes a little arm power to work up lather. But if you keep at it, you get somewhat of a lather going on.

Boy this bar smells though once warm water hits it. It was the most potent shower I have ever had. I have never in my life been so overwhelmed with a scent before. I loved it, but I could definitely see how some people might find this in the shower experience gagful.

Karma soap is an acquired scent. That’s the only way to describe it.

If you never like the smell of witch shops or head shops than I would avoid it completely. However if you enjoy these types of scents, then the Karma soap is a wonderful comforting and warm scent.

DRY TIME:

After drying up I didn’t feel like the soap had done anything for my skin, but leave it stinking wonderfully, it did however make me feel clean so, I was willing to let that slide. Soap with this much POW deserves a little slack.

STINK-O-METER-

This is the great gusto. I was able to smell this soap for more than 24 hours on my skin after using it in the shower. I used it in the morning, and I could still smell it when I went to bed.
When I woke up, there it was again, as strong as ever. I was amazed, however I didn’t like the scent greeting me in the morning. I usually wake up with a groggy stomach, so having this scent overwhelm me, and wake me from my sleep was a bit too much.

WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE THAT?

Because it contains Propylene Glycol, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Perfume, Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Patchouli Oil (Pogostemon cablin), Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Lavendin Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Pine Oil (Pinus), Lemongrass Oil (Cymbopogan flexuosus), Elemi Oil (Canarium commune), Sodium Chloride, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), FD&C Red No. 4,

HOW MUCH?

Karma soap sells for $7.60 for a 3.5oz bar. However prices may vary depending on cut in LUSH stores. I would recommend buying at LUSH stores rather than online at www.LUSH.com, the shipping price is ridiculous on the site!

OVERALL

LUSH Karma Soap is by far one of my favorite soaps from Lush. I am ordering this again and again, and I cannot wait to add some more products from LUSH’s Karma collection.

RECOMMENDATION:

I would recommend this only to those who enjoy the incense type scents, and those who wouldn’t mind having the scent linger on them for 24 hours or more. It’s a really powerful soap, and it’s not meant for those with a weak stomach for strong scents.

TIPS-

-You can leave a small cut of this soap on a counter in a room and the room will smell of it for hours even after you remove the soap.

-Leave leftover soap in a cool dry place or in the refrigerator.

Softsoap Pomegranate & Mango Moisturizing Body Wash

I have never smelled a pomegranate. I think that is a good thing, because I can describe this ones scent to those of you who have also never smelled one either.

First and foremost I will say that it is not usual for me to buy a bath product at Eckerd’s, but when I saw this stylish bottle staring me down called soft soap in pomegranate and Mango, the wash itself was a light maroon color, with odd floating beads inside.

The bottle itself is an odd oval like shape with a built in click top lid, with a gorgeous picture on the cover of the fruit.

I had to scoop it up and figure out what it was all about.

Ah ha, the cute purplish white floating beads throughout the bottle of body wash is moisture beads! Wow! I clicked open the top and took in a whiff… it smelled fantastic! It was fruity, oh yeah fruity!

It reminded me of fresh cherries with a hint of tangerine/grapefruit, and the mango scent was very subtle yet apparent.

I couldn’t wait to get home and give it a try. At only $4.99 I felt like I was getting a bargain. Usually my body washes run me around $15 a bottle. And for a decent amount too, at 18oz I felt like I was getting the deal of a lifetime.

Where To Buy?

I found my bottle at Eckerd’s, but it can also be found in grocery stores, other drug stores, and Target. I’m sure they carry it in WalMart as well.

Use:

I squeezed out a quarter sized amount into my pouf, and the lovely smell hit my nose, as I began to run the gel into my skin I could smell the sweet fragrance filling up the entire room, and I hoped it would last like my Lush products do. The bottle itself claims to be gentle enough to use as a shave gel. I guess though that you would have to test it out for yourself to know whether or not that is true.

The lather was moisturizing and silky. I liked it, I actually liked it! I honestly had doubted it, seeing how it was cheap, and made from a company I had never heard of before. I have used many, many different body washes, but the moisturizing lather I got from soft soap left the others in the dirt when it came to the silky feeling I got from pomegranate mango body wash.

I actually had a hard time rinsing all of the left over soap off of my pouf. I was covered in suds within just a few moments of rubbing back and forth, and the smell, the glorious smell. I was actually thinking of drying off quickly and purchasing the rest of the available scents.

Dry Time:

I was really hoping the scent would last on my skin after I dried off, I honestly thought it would too after the luscious thick lather I got from it in the shower. I was able to smell it slightly for about 10 minutes afterwards, but it dissipated into nothing after that.

Not only that my skin also felt the same. I truly thought I would feel moisturized afterwards, but the product failed in this department. I’m guessing the pretty moisture beads are stuck in the bottle for show.

Overall:

Now after all of that is said and done, I most likely will still continue to buy it, even though it provides nothing for my skin afterwards, I enjoy the rich silky lather, and lovely scent it gives off in the shower. I don’t really have an issue with dry skin on my legs or body, so the scent is really all I am ever after.

I’ve gotten the same result from $20 bottles of shower wash, so for this one to be only $5, it’s a star in my eyes.

I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a fruity scented IN shower experience, because after that this wash is pretty much useless when it comes to hydration.

Lush: Coalface Soap

I had been waiting to try this facial soap for nearly 2 months now. I didn’t add it in to my last order because the price was a bit high, and I had read not so pleasant reviews about it.

However recently Lush had a promotion going on where if I spent over $10.95 I could have a 3.5oz piece for free.

FREE! Coalface for free!

Of course I jumped right into that deal without even thinking about it, and went into an ordering frenzy. Come to think about it, I should have gotten 3 for free. Dang!

What is Coalface?

It’s a facial cleansing bar meant for people with oily skin and those who are prone to getting acne.

I have oily skin; I get pimples every now and then!!! I need it, yes, me, me, me! Over here, give me mine!

My bar of Coalface came in the usual neatly packed ‘sealed with a kiss’ Lush package. It had a thick layer of clear wrap on it, and underneath that wrap was the clear deli wrap that Lush is known for.
Yeah, I got a double wrap. It was annoying, but I got into it easy enough.

Coalface is cut from the block, so you never know what odd shape you may get. Lately I seem to be getting corner cuts, making the bar a little annoying to cut up into sample sized pieces. I will then end up with sample-sized pieces that look like daggers and crescent moons.

My bar was a black misshaped square, and reminded me of tar. At the end of the soap there were these grayish looking sparkly things. I don’t know if I’d label them glitter or poprocks. It looked like a bad dried out end, and I wanted to cut it off and chuck it.

I of course then began to cut the bar into sample-sized pieces, so I would only use one at a time for the soap dishes in the bathroom.

While I was cutting the soap though, I noticed a very, very slight scent of licorice, but it was licorice with something else that sort of ruined the lovely scent. I smelled sulfur and licorice.
Sulfur smells like farts, not only that I also noticed that same nasty funk smell I had remembered while using Ooh La La. It was pepper.

I was disappointed in the scent. It was pretty horrid, but I was also willing to give it a try. I wouldn’t be showering with it, it was going on my face and that was it. So I didn’t mind the Fart Bar. I have used much worse stinking things on my face before.

The soap was a thick glycerin like soap, and had a thick consistency. It was not overly soft like most of Lush’s soaps are and I knew it would withstand being placed in a soap dish without me having to worry about it melting away.

Wash Up:

It is advised on the Lush site to: Dampen face with warm water, lather up your hands and apply to face using small circular motions, rinse thoroughly and pat dry. For best results follow with LUSH Moisturizer that best suits your skin type.

So that’s what I did. My hands though were turning gray. I got a small lather; it was not luscious or bubbly. I wasn’t expecting it to be either. Most Lush products don’t lather very well at all. It was more like a lotion like lather that reminded me of the Sultana soap.

I then took the gray lather I did get and I began rubbing it all around my face. Soon my whole face was covered with the gray soot colored lather. I could feel some abrasive like grit that was softly exfoliating my skin. It didn’t hurt either, and usually I hate exfoliations.
Just as I began to hold my breath because the stink was getting to me…it got up my nose, and I nearly died. I have never had a facial cleaner burn so bad. I have had soaps get up my nose before, and usually a good blow gets it out without a problem or a teardrop.

Coalface however was a whole new ballgame. The gunk burned, I rinsed my face quickly, and tried my best to blow the soap out of my nose.

Once I felt better though, I could smell the soap farts in my nose for almost an hour after using it.

My skin however felt extremely clean. It did not dry my skin out, or make it tight. It did however make me feel clean. Too clean?

I know that sounds weird, but my face felt so overly cleaned that it sort of felt strange. It didn’t make my skin feel soft; it made it feel like rubber. Where if you run a finger down it, it will make… swwwweeeaaakkk sounds, sort of like rubbing your hand down a wet inner tube.

It wasn’t an uncomfortable feeling; it was just an odd one my face was not used to.

Long Term Use:

I have been using Coalface for almost 5 days now, and already I can see a difference. The pimples I did have when I began using it are now dried up and toast. That’s what I loved most about Coalface; it would dry up the pimples, and not the rest of the skin. Strange I know, but I’m just reporting my results. My skin is usually very oily looking by mid-afternoon or when it is hot out. I was glad to see this old habit has also died. My skin is no longer oily, and I don’t see any new pimples trying to make themselves known.

Where To Buy?

You can obtain one at either a local Lush store, or online at www.Lush.com for $10.95for a 3.5oz bar. Also if you plan on ordering online check www.Naughtycodes.com for any recent Lush promotional codes.

WARNING:

Try to avoid getting this one in your nose, or eyes. It'll burn like hell.

Overall:

Love how it works, but I hate the farty scent, and God forbid you get this gunk up your nose.

Reccomendation:

Yes, Coalface is a keeper in my opinion. I would recommend it to those with oily, or combination oily skin, and those who break out frequently or every now and then.
