I have had success with many sunless tanners, and then with others
things go South. Pretty much as of now it is my opinion that 50% of the
sunless tanners available on the market now, work fantastic. 25% of them
work okay, and the other 25% are horrendous.
You have ones that streak your skin, ones that smell so bad you can't
bear to keep in on, and others that don't give any results at all.
When I came across Dove Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with Subtle Self
Tanners, For Medium Skin Tones for $6.99 at Walmart I wanted to try it.
It came in a neat looking package, the price was decent, and it was by
Dove; a company I have used, and liked all throughout my life.
Dove Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with Subtle Self Tanners, For
Medium Skin Tones promised that it would enhance and even out my skin
tone resulting in a summer glow all year long. It was a pretty steep
promise... I mean to add in 'all year long'.
Use:
To get this all year long summer glow all you have to do is apply the
lotion daily. In about one weeks time you should be seeing subtle
natural looking results.
It seemed easy, so that's what I did. I clicked open the cap and
applied the lotion evenly to my face, and legs. My arms never need any
gradual sunless tans...they are tan enough.
For the first time ever I noticed a scent that I actually liked coming
from a bottle of sunless tanner. Usually sunless tanning lotions smell
like hell. Dove Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with Subtle Self Tanners,
though smelled decent, and I didn't mind having it on my skin.
The lotion rubbed into my skin and absorbed pretty quickly into my
skin. It left no greasy or slimy residue behind, which was a plus. I was
already loving it, the nice scent, the fast absorption into my skin,
and no traces of grease left behind! Sweet right?Right?
Within just a few days I saw results, and they were nice, but when I
got up close and personal with my reflection in the mirror I noticed
that the areas that were gaining color were also peeling, flaky, and
gross looking.
I began to scrub my face, and when looking at my reflection yet again,
I noticed that the 'gradual color' was fading as I scrubbed away at the
dead colored skin. It was pretty nasty.
After removing all of the dead skin, I applied the lotion again.
Within a few days I got the same results. It seems that the skin that
this lotion gradually colors begins to gradually peel away as well.
My results were non-existent, because every other day I ended up having to scrub dead colored skin off of my face.
Pricing and availability:
The best price I found this one for was Walmart. I am sure though that
if you dabble around the internet you could scoop it up for less that
$5.00 off of www.ebay.com.
Overall:
What the hell is the point if the lotion is just going to dry out my
skin, and cause it to peel. Dove Energy Glow Daily Moisturizer with
Subtle Self Tanners, For Medium Skin Tones is like a bad sunburn, it
looks okay until it peels.
