Review of Lush: Haagenbath Bath Bomb

When something is coming soon to my favorite website, I must have it the moment it is available. When I learned about Lush's Haagenbath bath bomb about a month ago it sat silently in the coming soon section, and teased me with it's mid-august release. Mid-August can mean the second week in August, or the third...the wait was unbearable, I had to have it! I had to freaking have it!
Lush.com promised a bath equivalent to bathing in ice cream. The bomb itself is pink with brown chips of god knows what in it! Before it's release I had no idea, was it sea weed? Flower petals? Or grainy mud?
I was assuming it was mud when I first got the chance to order it, I had no clue. I clicked add to shopping cart the moment the bomb became available to purchase.
Haagenbath is the larger of bath bombs Lush has to offer, weighing in at 6.3 ounces for $5.95. The price was a bit steep after shipping, and the grand total came to nearly $14 and change when ordered on the website at www.lush.com. However if you are one of them lucky ladies who has a Lush store nearby, you can purchase it for way the heck less. For the rest of us...we have no choice really, so that sort of sucks.
Anyways, the Haagenbath bomb came sealed in a standard Lush box, it's cute sealed with a kiss Lush tape on it. The bomb was tucked inside of a plastic baggie. I could smell it the moment I opened the box. That Lush signature scent was present, it is a musky type scent that is sure to please even the most picky of noses.
Haagenbath smells like peppermint patties. Surprisingly the brown specks that I seen on the bomb on the website are chocolate chips. I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of bathing in chocolate, I assumed my skin would break out with pimples over night. But seeing how I just slammed down $14.00 for this ball, I had to use it. I would just have to rinse of with some body wash afterward.
Lush has a tendency to surprise it's customers with odd types of food in their bombs. I do with they would hint that it was food and not flowers in the bomb. My last bath with one of their bombs I was shocked to find the surprise was cereal...not cool man.
Anyways, I ran a tub of water and threw in Haagenbath. She began to fizz up, but she was a slow fizzer. This bomb seemed to be a bath melt/fizz combination.
I got into the tub and was greeted by the mild minty scent and pink colored bath water. The water itself though was no longer water, it had been transformed into a pink creamy, silky, and extremely moisturizing paradise. Oh my, I was in love!
I sat in the tub for a good half hour, just taking in the lovely relaxing, yet pick me up scent. The bomb lasted throughout the entire bath, it was the slowest melting bomb I had ever used, and honestly I wanted to get out before it was even finished.
The chocolate pieces didn't bother me at all. They melted a bit, and I knew I would probably have a brown poop like sludge line at the tubs drain when I was done.
After getting out and drying off my skin felt like soft clouds. It was like heaven. The mild scent stuck with me for hours, and I just felt good after taking the bath. Yummy, delicious!
Of course the ring around my tub had a few un-melted chips left behind, but I was able to easily run some water and drain them down. Clean up was a cinch basically.
$14...was it worth it? I would say so. I have used numerous amount of different types of bath bombs, and I cannot say I enjoyed them as much as I had enjoyed Haagenbath. This bomb is one of a kind. It leaves skin feeling soft, clean, and smelling lovely.
I would recommend that if you are going to try any bath bombs from Lush, that you try the Haagenbath bomb first. You will not be disappointed.
The bomb can be purchased online at the official lush site (www.lush.com) or in any local Lush store. If possible buy directly from the store.
