Review of Estee Lauder's Pure Color Lipstick in Pinkberry (182)

What better freebie gifts for a makeup junkie than of course, makeup. I was recently given gobs of free Estee Lauder products and I was really excited to give Estee Lauder's Pure Color Lipstick in Pinkberry (182) a try.

In the tube the color looked like the perfect pink brownish semi matte lip color.
However a lot of Estee Lauder's Pure Color Lipsticks look wonderful in the tube, but when you apply them the color is much different, much lighter, and has this faded outdated overall coloring to them.
I hoped Pinkberry would shimmer and shine in color on my lips the way it did in the tube though, because it sure was undeniably beautiful.

On Nude Lips:

Pinkberry on my lips when worn alone was definitely not what was expected. It had a really late 90's brownish color going on. Now I like , and they look especially pretty on top of bold bright pinks or reds. When worn alone though, they just look old and faded, and this is how Pinkberry looks when worn with no other base colors on the lips.

On Top Of Lip Color:

On top of red lips or deep pink or fuischa lips, Pinkberry comes to life and adds a gorgeous dazzling sheen that no other can touch. It's almost like a lipstick addition that amplifies your lipstick color, and for that alone, I like it a lot. It gives lips a darker coloring, due to the brown and mauve coloring that PinkBerry delivers.

Does It Last Though?

For once, Estee Lauder managed to package up a lipstick that actually lasts. Now the last is not spectacular, but compared to the majority in the Pure Color collection, Pinkberry holds its own, with needed re-application around every 2 hours. I get better last though with low end priced lipsticks, so it's not a miraculous last.

Texture:

Most Pure Color Lipsticks have a nice texture to them, but Pinkberry actually feels more drying. I guess this is why it lasts longer than the other colors in the collection.

Overall

Pinkberry is decent on top of lipstick colors you already own. When worn alone though it is just too pale and not very bold or bright. It is not worth the price to justify this major flaw. Had it been bold and bright on its own, without backup help from other lipstick colors than it would be a winner in my opinion. Due to the price though, and dry feeling it leaves behind, I would skip it.
