This past week we recently purchased a membership to BJ's, and while
browsing around, I stumbled upon the most adorable retro style kitchen
gadget. It's called the Nostalgia Electrics Vintage-Style 3-In-1
Breakfast Station.
At first glance it looks like a toy that someone would buy for a
child, it's got a 57 Chevy baby blue powder glossy plastic finish, with
silver dials that are also plastic. The breakfast station is rather
small, but while looking at it, I began to imagine all of the room I
would be saving on my kitchen counter.
The Nostalgia Electrics Vintage-Style 3-In-1 Breakfast Station has a
small coffee maker at the right side of it, and at the left a small
toaster oven for toast, bagels, or other items you want to toast up. At
the top and to the left is a small griddle plate to cook eggs, bacon, or
sausage on.
Basically, I could get rid of my toaster, and get rid of my old coffee
pot, and replace it with this breakfast station, giving myself even
more room on my counter considering the stations smaller size.
How well does it work?
At first I had to ask myself, was this going to be an impulse buy? I
figured yes, I fell in love with the neat shape, the 50's coloring, and
the retro appeal it had. However after thinking about how functional it
could be, and how much room I could be saving, I thought perhaps it was a
good buy.
We would have to wait and see how well it worked once we got it home and set it up.
The station definitely frees up some counter space, as we removed the larger toaster oven, and the larger coffee maker.
I loved the coffee maker, and I no longer had to purchase coffee
filters, as this one comes with a smaller basket, with a mesh like
material placed around it that allows you to use it over and over again.
You simple pour in your coffee grains, and brew. Once finished dump it
out, and clean it for another use.
The coffee pot itself is a 4 cup maker, but I get around 2 cups from it, which is all we need anyway.
The toaster:
The toaster over is small as well, but it fits 2 slices of bread
inside of it without any issues. The plus side is, the toast will toast
up pretty fast, so there is no long waiting to plop in more slices
afterward.
The griddle:
The griddle at the top is probably the only addition that really is
useless due to its small size. You will have a very tough time flipping
an egg, so I would recommend just using it to quickly cook up bacon or
sausage.
Overall:
The Nostalgia Electrics Vintage-Style 3-In-1 Breakfast Station, is
very functional, we picked it up for $55, and we use the station daily
for brewing up coffee. We love the fact that we do not have to purchase
coffee filters anymore, and that we have more space on the counter.
Mostly though, it's become a neat conversation piece, as when we have
guests, they're always asking what it is, followed by the question of
where we bought it.
