About a month ago I did an Organix straightening keratin treatment, and
when it comes to doing such a treatment it is recommended that you only
use shampoo and conditioners that are sulfate free, in order to keep the
results for a longer amount of time.
This was basically why I have been on an Organix kick, as their
company sells sulfate free products to keep up with maintaining your
straighter smoother locks after using keratin.
I picked up Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo- Sulfate Free for
under $8.00, and hoped that it would be capable of keeping my locks at
this new smoother straighter finish.
The Scent:
Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo- Sulfate Free smells very close
to the Organix Brazilian Sulfate Free shampoo and conditioner. It has a
warm buttery fragrance, with a semi overpowering coconut suntan oil
scent that is actually really nice.
Is the shampoo as nice to the hair though, as it is to the senses?
Sadly, not even close.
My Use:
In the shower, I wet my hair down and applied a generous amount of
Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo- Sulfate Free to my locks.
Working up a lather is rather difficult, as I have found this to be
the case with just about every single sulfate free formula I have used.
Not only is the lather non-existent, but the drying feeling after
rinsing this shampoo out was simply horrible. The is no other way to
explain it. It felt as if my hair was stripped of all natural oils, and
all moisture.
I hoped my conditioner would be capable of helping bring this gritty
eraser dry feeling out. Unfortunately the conditioner was only capable
of helping it out ever so slightly.
The plus however was that after styling my hair the dry feeling did go
away. I just hated how it left my hair feeling in the shower while
actually using it.
Now with that said, the final decision on whether or not to buy this
one again came to me just 24 hours later, when the hair by my scalp
looked greasy and unwashed.
Switching brands confirmed that this shampoo was the culprit, and I do not even know why.
Recommended?
Not a chance. Dry feeling while using it, and greasy hair near scalp just 24 hours later. That's a negative
