When 2 separate people recommend the same product to you, you get
intrigued. I was looking for hair products to help keep my hair in check
ever since I decided to go on a hair dye coloring binge. My hair became
damaged, and I needed products to help tame frizz, add shine, and keep
the hair styled without weighing it down with heavy gunk like gel.
2 people recommended the same product to me, WEN products by Chaz
Dean. I searched on Amazon and chose WEN Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme
by Chaz Dean as the best option. I was hoping it would allow me to
style my hair, hold it, and add shine as promised.
I have been using this creme religiously now for about 2 weeks, and I have mixed feelings about it.
For starters, this product should be advertised for those with damaged
hair, because the creme is way to thick for those with fine hair. This
one seems to really help keep my hair healthy, but it seems to do it by
conditioning it, and if you do not need that extra conditioning
treatment, this will leave your fine hair looking worse than ever due to
how thick the texture is, and it's near glue like consistency.
Even with the thick consistency though, it does not dry stiff, so that is a plus, and a negative.
The negative being that this creme does not give you light hold, it
gives no hold as far as I am
concerned. It does give you a thick buildup
feel though, thankfully that thick feeling dries up and does not get
left behind. For those with thinner hair types though, the weigh down
may stick around for you.
The next promise associated with WEN Sweet Almond Mint Styling Creme
by Chaz Dean, is that this creme will add shine. That's as far from the
truth as it gets, and for me, this creme made my hair look even less
brilliant than usual.
So Why Keep Using It?
Because it keeps my damaged hair feeling less damaged, less dry, and
less ugly to the touch. I can live with it removing some shine, and I
could care less about the lack of styling power. This one is actually
improving the feel, and texture of my hair overall.
It has not produced any of the promises that it claims, but instead it
gives me a benefit it never did, which I love, and desperately needed.
Overall:
No it is not some wonderful styling creme, at least not for me. What
it is though, is a fix for damaged dry over-processed hair. For me it
seems to condition, and bring my hair back to a healthier state whenever
I use it. I do wish it added shine, but I can live with it as is for
now.
