Review of Estee Lauder, Pure Color Eyeshadow- Black Crystals

When it comes to eyeshadow, I am a pure junkie and I love mixing colors to see what type of finishes I can come up with. The absolute best eyeshadow for me though, and one I would recommend to anyone, would be buying pigment powders at art stores, which work better, are far less expensive, and feature the same high pigment colors that high end cosmetic companies sell to you with a huge price tag. A favorite of mine is Pearl Ex, which sells every color imaginable.

However, even with my cheap pigment powders, I have to say, I have never found a black color eyeshadow quite as remarkable as Estee Lauder, Pure Color Eyeshadow- Black Crystals. Had I not been given this eyeshadow compact, I never would have bought it, and I would have just stuck to my powders. I am glad though, because I will be buying this one again and again due to how well it works, and how intense and beautiful the color is, and not only that, but how well it works as an under color base for my eyes to really allow my top coat colors to pop even more vibrantly.

The Color:

Estee Lauder, Pure Color Eyeshadow- Black Crystals when used alone is stunning, but you have to be daring to pull it off due to how intense the black is. The color I was given was a gorgeous metallic finish, with beautiful crystal shimmering micro flecks that are saturated throughout the eyeshadow, and not just on the top layer.

My Use:

I use Estee Lauder, Pure Color Eyeshadow- Black Crystals on my eyelids first. I covered the entire eye and then add a light pink or purple, however due to the deep black coloring underneath the light colors pop into a more radiant and beautiful color overall, while concealing the dark black color just enough to where it does not leave my eye looking Gothic or too black.

Last:

I was happy to see that this eyeshadow lasted just as long as my pigment powders do. It gives me all day color, with no fading or crease buildup in my eyelids, which is why I use pigment powders to begin with, because there is no creasing involved.

Overall:

I love this one. It's a gorgeous deep color, with shimmer and shine, and works wonderful as a base, or as a corner shading. The color lasts, the color does not fade, nor does it budge or irritate the eye. This one gets a solid 5 stars from me, even though the price is steep. The color goes a long way though, so even the smallest amount applied to your eyeshadow brush will stretch far.
