Christmas is right around the corner, and Bath and Body Works is
already ahead of the game with the release of their new winter
collection of bath and body products.
My favorite, as always goes to the release of new products from the Temptations line.
This week while on my regular prowling of the store I came across an entire shelf filled with new products from Temptations. I wanted to buy them all, but do to the fact that my wallet was running low, I had to settle for what I could afford at the time. I picked up a bottle of Dreamy Chocolate Mint 3 in 1, and a bottle of Glittery Gumdrop body lotion from the collection.
I really wanted to purchase the 3 in 1 of Glittery Gumdrop, but seeing how the 16 ounce bottle was going for $12.00, and the body lotion only $8.00, I went with the lotion for starters (oh I will so be back though once I get my paycheck).
Appearance:
Glittery Gum Drop body lotion comes in the standard stand up plastic bottle that all Temptation body lotions come in. The bottle has a gorgeous drawn on picture of glittery gumdrops in orange, red, green, yellow, and pink that appears to be floating through the air. Slightly covering the picture is the name of the lotion.
It's not hard to locate in the store, as it will be located with the rest of the winter collection. Odds are the new line will be right near the front door this time of year.
The lotion itself is a pale purple color, and comes with 10 ounces of lotion. Trust me; there is enough lotion in there to last till summer time.
Scent:
The reason I brought Glittery Gumdrop home with me was because I fell in love with the scent in the store. The first initial bang my nose got was definitely a light grape smell, followed up with a light fruity scent. Combined the overall scent was that of gumdrops; just more grapey than what I was expecting. The smell is not exactly realistic to an actual gumdrop...but it does resemble a grape DOT gumdrop for the most part.
Seeing how I have close to no grape scents, I was more than excited to bring this one home.
My Use:
I have always been fond of Temptation body lotions only because they leave a strong long lasting scent behind on my skin. I knew that Glittery Gumdrop would do the same.
I rubbed the lotion all over myself. It absorbs quickly into the skin, and coats you with a gorgeous scent of grape gumdrops. I loved it...but I noticed something a bit deceiving about it; there was nothing glittery about the lotion. Did my bottle of lotion lack the sparkles? Or are they all made like this? I'm still confused about that...but liked it all the more. I'm too old for glitter. For those who purchase this looking for glitter though, sample the bottle in the store first. I'm thinking maybe my bottle just got none.
Glittery Gumdrop did not moisturize my skin at all; it also didn't dry out my skin, so all was good in my book. For those looking for a lotion with moisturization you may want to avoid Glittery Gumdrop. Temptation products for the most part are designed with scent in mind, and nothing more. Glittery Gumdrops is for those who are looking for a nice scent.
Last:
The grape gumdrop scent lasted with me for about 3 hours, and was no longer detectable after that time period. I didn't mind though, 3 hours is a pretty good time amount for lotion in my opinion; especially one that smells this good.
Applying a small amount to your arms and legs will give you 3 more hours of gumdrop scent.
Overall:
I'm so far a huge fan of Temptations release of winter goodies. I was not that impressed with their summer line this year, so being presented with a large slew of new winter products that all smell really nice, was a great holiday treat indeed.
I hope they release Glittery Gumdrop again next winter.
Recommendation:
Although I'm a fan of Glittery Gumdrop body lotion, it does not mean everyone will be. It's really a girly scent, and for those looking for a more sophisticated scent, Glittery Gumdrop will only turn your stomach. It's a scent a child would adore, and if you don't enjoy those candy kiddie scents, then you may not like Glittery Gumdrop at all.
Always do a sniff test; that's really the key to Temptation products in general.
*You can pick up Glittery Gumdrop at any local Bath and Body works, or online at their site. You can also pick up the scent in a 16 ounce 3 in 1, lip gloss, and as a shimmer body powder.
Keep in mind that Glittery Gumdrop is a limited scent. Once the winter season is gone, you may not see this one again for a long, long time, if at all.
