I've always been a fan of Pure Color Glosses by Estee Lauder, so when I
was given a trio of Pure Color Lipstick's I was pretty excited, mostly I
liked the color Candy #116 the best, because it looked like a beautiful
deep raspberry pink in the tube.
Lipstick though can be deceiving, and what you see is not always what you get, as far as color goes on the lips.
The Color On Lips:
Candy 116, is more like a sheen frosty colored pink, it is pretty but
it does not look anything like what it looked like in the tube. On the
lips it's more of a mellow washed out pink, and the silvery frost gives
the lips a faded whiteout look, with some pink hues.
Now when this color is worn alone, it honestly is not very flattering,
however I tried it paired up with a darker red lipstick, and it allowed
the color to pop, and look more realistic to what the color looks like
in the tube, so I was happy.
When worn on top of color, this one is great, when worn alone, well, not so much.
The Texture:
Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick: Candy 116 has a wonderful texture to
it, and it applies like silk, and feels lightweight while adding a nice
touch of moisturizer. The lipstick is not greasy though, nor does it
leave behind an uncomfortable sticky texture.
All in all the texture is nice on lips, a barely there cover.
The Last:
Here is where Estee Lauder manages to fail me, and that is the last
that this lipstick has, which is close to nothing. I noticed in just 20
minutes the frost coloring was gone, and I needed to re-apply.
Overall:
With lower end lipstick's bombarding the cosmetic market, this one is
just not worth the price, considering the fact that you could get a
cheap lip color that will last for up to 8 hours.
Now, the lipstick color is nice, sure, but only on top of other
colors. The texture is nice as well, but considering the last and price,
I would suggest skipping it.
