Review of Makeup Forever HD Microperfecting Primer

My girlfriend had been ranting and raving about Makeup Forever's collections of cosmetics, and being easily influenced by others, I went ahead and placed an order on Sephora.com. With my order of foundation I was able to choose up to 3 freebie gifts to be included in my purchase. I was happy that I did not pay full price for a tube of Makeup Forever HD Microperfecting Primer because the results were less than worth the price asked.

What Makeup Forever HD Micro-perfecting Primer Promises:

Enhances the skins complexion while smoothing and leaving behind a soft finish. It is also oil free, and lightweight. Makeup Forever Makeup Forever HD Micro-perfecting Primer preps the skin to get ready for makeup application by allowing makeup to glide on, leaving behind a flawless glowing finish.

What Really Happens:

I first rinsed my face off of all oil, and dirt to give Makeup Forever HD Micro-perfecting Primer the perfect clean slate base.

I then began to apply the primer to my face, and immediately was taken back by just how thick this stuff was. I had been using a Pore smoothing primer before diving into the realm of Makeup Forever's primer, and my pore primer literally left my skin feeling like a silk veil had been placed over it, allowing for easy velvety smooth application of makeup; not only that only a small dot amount of my old primer would cover the entire surface of my face, and some.

When it came to Makeup Forever HD Micro-perfecting Primer, I got the complete opposite effect.
The texture of the primer is thick and more accurate to the consistency of cheap body cream than a silky soft skin prep. The primer is also white, which gives it that same overall look and feel of body cream or standard lotion.

What I also did not like was how thick it felt on the skin while applying it. The primer does not glide smoothly across the skin, and you need to use a whole lot of it in order to cover your entire face.
After the primer was fully applied to my face, it absorbed quickly but left my skin feeling more rugged and rough than it ever had felt before. This made me concerned that my foundation would look dry or cracked some hours later.

Makeup Application and Overall Results:

Due to the lacking smoothness of this primer, my makeup was harder to spread across my face and apply evenly. Luckily though my makeup never caked up nor did it look dry. It did however leave my skin feeling dry and thirsty.

All in all, I was glad to have gotten the chance to try this for free in a sample size. I was planning on buying this one, and happy now that I do not have to waste my money on it.

Thankfully I do like my Makeup Forever foundation, had my first product I purchased from their line been this primer, I likely would never have tried another item from their line of cosmetics.
