After using SAMY Fat Foam to attempt to lighten my hair I found that it
did nothing but make my hair smell bad, and the color did not even take.
When I first saw John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Color, I left it alone
on the shelf figuring it was the same garbage that Fat Foam was.
However the second time I saw it I came prepared with a coupon for a few
dollars off, and I went ahead and tried it. I picked up 9N Light
Natural Blonde, and hoped that if anything, it at least lightened my
hair up a few shades.
John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Color is done up differently than Fat
Foam, Fat Foam basically came with a huge mixing container, that you
shook to create the foam.
John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Color included a mixing container that
you apply a pump applicator to. The ix inside never turns into a foam,
but when you squeeze the bottle, it dispenses in a bubbly foam. The foam
is a lot different than Fat Foam.
I have very thick hair, and I worried that there would not be enough
to saturate my whole head. Thankfully I was able to, but not with the
same tick saturation I got from Fat Foam. I didn't care though, my main
focus was on the out layer of hair, more so than the back near my neck.
The foam stinks, I can't lie. It has that same harsh smell that most
blonde dyes have, and I worried that it would dry out my hair.
The Color:
I waited the full 30 minutes, and it took 30 minutes for the color
changes to be visible, as it seemed to lighten the hair very slowly.
My darker hair however was still left dark, only a shade or 2 lighter,
which was noticeable. The hair that I already had highlighted took the
color best, lightening it up into a gorgeous natural looking blonde
color.
Results:
After showering, and styling my hair, I did notice the changes, and I
liked them because they were subtle, natural, and obvious all the same.
No patches, which was a major plus.
Overall:
The next time I use this foam, I will step it up to an even lighter
shade, to really get lighter blonde results. I like though that this
foam does not improvise or change your natural highlights to blend in
with the rest of the hair color into one solid mass of color. It leaves
your highlights alone, but lightens them, while lightening the rest of
the hair. When you dry and style the hair, you will notice that any
highlights you had previously are still there, so there is no need to
touch them up with lighter shades of color.
What I especially liked besides the results, is the fact that my hair
actually felt healthier after using the dye, and the included
conditioner to use after coloring.
All in all, I was not expecting to like this foam, due to the
disappointment I got from Fat Foam, however I think I found my favorite
hair coloring kit to date. John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Color- 9N
Light Natural Blonde!
