Review of Soap Rocks: Olivine

A few I purchased a Turquoise Soap Rock as a trial, to see whether or not I liked them; I was so impressed with it, that I had to try even more of the gorgeous soaps. I was hesitant on purchasing the Olivine Soap Rock, only because I thought it would smell like olives; a scent I cannot stand.
The Olivine Soap Rock was ordered off of a wholesale website for only $7.99. The Soap Rock was so gorgeous, and this was the main reason I purchased it.
What are Soap Rocks:
Soap Rocks unique bars of soap. They are cut and colored to look like actual stones.
What Olivine looks like:
The Olivine Soap Rock caught my eye on the site right away because of its gorgeous sparkly green coloring. The Soap Rock is mainly a sparkly green color, and throughout the green are flecks of gold and black. When viewed Olivine truly looks like a stone, and not a bar of soap.
The Olivine Soap Rock is made out of hard glycerin. It comes safely packed with protective wrap to keep it from breaking while in transit to your home.
My Olivine Soap Rock:
Well I was not disappointed in the stone, but I must say that when it arrived it really didn't look like the Soap Rock that was displayed on the site. One the site the Olivine Soap Rock was cut into a misshaped rectangle. The green looked as if it glowed like kryptonite, and the flecks of gold and black made the Soap Rock look as if it were a sea bed.
However my Olivine Soap Rock looked nothing like this. First off it was cut into almost a stop sign shape, and the green was not sparkly. It was shiny, but it did not give off that glorious glow like the photo had shown online. The black flecks were not flecks; they looked more like smudges that made the Soap Rock look dull and ugly.
The gold flecks that you can clearly see in the photo were also non-existent.
Now don't get me wrong, it was still a really pretty unique bar of soap, but it was definitely not what I was expecting. I was so thrilled with the appearance of the Turquoise Soap Rock, that I assumed Olivine would also be just as beautiful.
Scent:
Olivine Soap Rock gave off a very easy to recognize scent; cucumber melon. It was a very nice scent, although I was expecting a more evergreen scent just because the green and black coloring of the soap gave me that earthy impression.
My Use:
I really didn't mind using this one. My Turquoise Soap Rock I wanted to save because it was so gorgeous; Olivine was just sort of pretty, so I didn't mind using it up as soap.
In the shower it gave of it's nice cucumber melon scent, while trying to produce suds. (You see Soap Rocks are made with all natural ingredients, which usually means the lather will not be as sudsy as a regular store bought bar of soap) I of course did not mind, and was expecting this to happen. Although the suds were almost non-existent, the soap left my skin feeling fresh, and clean.
Olivine, like other Soap Rocks I have tried did not leave my skin moisturized. It also did not leave my skin feeling dry, so that is a plus.
The cucumber melon scent also did not last after I dried off, which was sort of disappointing.
Overall:
The Olivine Soap Rock was just an okay bar of soap for me. I most likely wouldn't purchase Olivine again though. I will however continue ordering Soap Rocks, only because they are; for the most part, gorgeous, unique, and nicely scented. Not only that but Soap Rocks are all natural and not tested on animals. Only tested on humans! Hehe.
Recommendation:
I would pass up on Olivine. Looks can be deceiving on the site. Give another Soap Rock a try instead
