When a product claims it will blur out flaws on your face in a matter of
seconds, you have to sit and wonder just how far fetched that claim is.
This was literally the claim attached to Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty
Balm Broad Spectrum, and luckily I did not have to spend a total of
$25.00 to test their claims out. I ended up adding a free sample to my
Sephora shopping cart to test it out and see how well it truly worked.
Besides the instant gratification of flawless skin, this beauty balm
promises to literally improve the skin over a course of 8 weeks with
continual use. It will minimize pores, wrinkles and supposedly redness.
Nice even, younger looking skin in just 8 weeks.
8 weeks is a long time though folks, and you will have to dedicate 2
months to using this stuff on a daily basis, which is a long time if you
ask me.
With that said though, I was more interested in how well it would work
instantly. If it did the job, then 8 weeks was no problem, as I would
be using it daily anyway to hide flaws instantly.
The Serum:
Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm Broad Spectrum is rather runny in
texture, and feels more like a low budget foundation than a serum or
beauty treatment. Applying it to my clean skin was not that difficult
although it does not spread all that far, as the skin seems to absorb it
rather quickly.
My initial thought was that it seemed more like a skin stain than an
actual serum, balm, or cream. It claims that the balm is invisible on
the skin, which I guess would sort of ring true if you were not ultra
pale or ultra tan. I am a semi tan skin color, and the balm actually was
visible on my skin, but not to worry, I use foundation right afterward,
and this was not an issue at all for me.
Results:
Nothing special here ladies. It was like I put nothing on my face at all, a waste of time in my usual beauty regime really.
The balm absorbs, and as far as instantly rubbing out flaws, it could not have been more far fetched.
I had to put a moisturizer over this balm because it actually left my
skin feeling parched and thirsty, and adding foundation directly over it
would have been an ultra dried out mess.
I decided to give the balm another shot the second time I used it, and
I figured maybe using more of it would bring me better results as far
as blurring out pores, and minimizing flaws.
Sadly it did nothing but make my face feel heavier and more dry. I am
glad Igot the free sample, as I would never purchase this one,
especially after trying it and having such high hopes, only to be let
down by the enormous claims it boasted.
Overall:
Gunk. I would skip this one and go for something else, especially considering the higher price attached to it.
