Review: Chanel Le Crayon Yeux - Seafoam

If you have been following my Chanel makeup product reviews you obviously already know that I recently was blessed with a giant freebie box of designer makeup products from my uncle who recently stood with us recently.
In the box of goodies I came across hundreds of expensive name brand products. Products that I myself could never even think about purchasing. One item that I noticed right away was Chanel Le Crayon Yeux in Seafoam.
The Color-
Seafoam is a color that I normally would not use. It is a light metallic forest green. It looks like a color I would only use while putting together a fairy costume for Halloween. Honestly it is a product that I would not of even considered...but it had the Chanel logo on it, society has instilled in my mind that Chanel means fashion; Chanel is rich; Chanel is expensive...yet when looking at this color, I truly was not impressed, and disappointment took over.
The Liner:
Chanel Le Crayon Yeux- Seafoam comes in a standard pencil, it does require sharpening when the tip wears. On the other side of the pencil comes an attached blending sponge.
My Use:
I really had no use for this odd sparkly green color, I knew that I could not just apply this color alone to my lids without looking like a peacock. So instead I used regular black eye liner, and then took the Chanel liner and applied a thin line of the green above the black liner. The look was nice, but it looked a bit over done.
Chanel Seafoam applied with ease, and the liner itself is extremely creamy feeling. What I liked best about it was how it applied without the tip breaking or leaving nasty clumps behind.
Although it was not a color I would purchase with my own money, it certainly was a damn fine liner.
I had the option to blend the color into my eye with the attached sponge on the other side of the pencil, but I am not good at the whole smudging and blending thing...especially when a green color is thrown into the mix.
The next test was to see just how long Seafoam would stay put without smearing to the creases in my lids.
I had it on for about 4 hours, and still Chanel Seafoam stood in it's place. Shortly after that though the color did behind to stick into the creases of my eyes. I sort of knew it would, it was just too creamy and silky to stay put.
Overall:
Chanel Le Crayon Yeux Seafoam is a nice eye definer, however for me, it's not a color I would work with on a daily basis. Although it applies easily, it also eventually sticks to your eye creases creating that nasty line of funk that no one likes to look at. Most creamy eye liners do this though, so it was sort of expected. If you are okay with keeping up with touch ups I would recommend Seafoam to you.
However seeing how it is such an 'out there' color I would highly recommend that if you want a Chanel Le Crayon, you should get a simple black color. Adding too much color is just going to make you look like Mimi from Drew Carey.
Recommendation:
Yes and no. Yes because it is one of the easiest pencils to work with, it does not clump or break while you apply to your lids. No because it does eventually smear into your creases, and no because the pencil is too pricey. It is my opinion that you are paying for a name brand here, and not a high quality product.
