Into the box of makeup goodies (that my uncle recently brought for me)
out I pulled a slew of MAC products. I have always wanted MAC makeup
products but due to their higher prices I have always avoided them.
Yet when they were given to me freely, I was thrilled. Inside the box
of makeup goodies I pulled out MAC lipstick. I am not much of a fan of
lipstick, but I will wear it on occasions.
When I saw the color of the lipstick though I wondered if it would
look good on my skin tone, or if it was even good lipstick. The color
was Frost Odyssey. I popped open the lipsticks top and took a closer
look at this color Mac calls Frost Odyssey. There was really nothing
special about it. The lipstick itself is a rich plum color with some
flecks of light purple shimmer throughout the lipstick.
It was certainly a color that I know I had seen before from CoverGirl. Perhaps a color I had even worn before.
I twisted the lipstick up and applied it to my lips. It went on
smoothly with ease. The lipstick made my lips feel extremely moisturized
after applying.
I looked at my new lip color in the mirror, and I must say I was quite
impressed. The color the lipstick itself gave off was a regular ol'
plum purple, but when applied to my lips it brought them naturally to
life without making me look like some sort of purple lipped freak. The
lipstick also gave off a pinkish purple sparkly metallic look that
actually looked a lot prettier than it sounded.
The MAC Promise:
Mac promised color plus texture for my lips. They also claim it is
color that stands out on runways. I myself am no model, and have no
intentions of wearing it to any runways, but I can clearly see how the
color would be detected on a runway. It stands out without looking
trashy or over done.
Lasting Power:
This is why I do not purchase lipstick all too often. Most lipsticks
only last a half hour, or until you have a sip of coffee or smoke a
cigarette. When it came to Frost Odyssey MAC Lipstick I had a nice light
plum metallic shine to my lips fr nearly 2 hours. It lasts a frigging
long time compared to other lipsticks. It will not last all day, but
when the lipstick dries it sort of stains your lips, but not
permanently. It was as if the lipstick left behind color, but my lips
felt like nothing was on them. The moisturizing wet feeling went away
the moment the lipstick dried, and what was left was color; glowing,
glistening color, that I liked.
Licking my lips, sipping on coffee and smoking a cigarette all within
this 2 hours time period, and my color was still very visible. The
lipstick did however stick to my can of iced tea...but it did not remove
the color, the color on my lips stayed.
Overall:
I'm not a lipstick fan, like I mentioned earlier; MAC however has
brought back my liking to lipstick. I will most likely stick to MAC
lipsticks from here on out. I especially love Frost Odyssey, but cannot
wait to get my lips dressed up in the slew of other colors MAC has to
offer.
Pricing:
Believe it or not I expected this lipstick to be in the $40.00 range. After seeking it online though I found it at the official site for only $14.00 per lipstick. That's not too bad, seeing how I have spent nearly $30.00 on lipstick before.
Recommendation:
I recommend MAC lipstick to every gal who is sick and tired of
lipstick that fades in less than 10 minutes. This is for those looking
for pretty, long lasting color.
Frost Odyssey looks best on those with dark hair, and a mild tan.
Those with blond hair will have lips that are too bold and too dark for
their hair color. Do check out the site though for the perfect color for
you.
