Diving deep down into a box of free makeup products I found myself a
slew of MAC makeup products. I have heard about MAC before, I have even
seen it before, but because pricing on MAC products are a bit too steep
for my budget I always avoided purchasing them.
I was glad that I was finally getting the opportunity to try the
products out for myself before deciding if these higher priced products
are worth the price.
In the bottom of the box I found a lonely eye liner pencil by MAC.
After reading the description and product info I learned that this
particular pencil was MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in a color called
Permaplum.
Figures! Another oddball color that I probably wouldn't like. I popped
of the cap and took a look. Permaplum is a deep dark purple. Before
putting it on my eyes though I ran the pencil across my hand to get a
better look at what this Permaplum had to offer.
Permaplum:
The color is odd. On my hand it gave off a deep purple color, mixed
with a smoky gray color. It actually reminded me of what the sky looks
like right before it is about to downpour. On my skin it gave off a
metallic dark purple shine that I really liked.
After looking on the MAC online site I learned that this color was
also supposed to give off a pink shimmer. I have to highly, highly
disagree. I do not see any hue or hint of a pink color in this stormy
purple liner. Even in different light areas, there is no hint of pink.
Sorry MAC, update that. There is no pink here my friends.
The Permaplum MAC Promise:
With any beauty product us chicas want to know what to expect from
makeup before we purchase it. MAC promises waterproof, long lasting
metallic shimmer with a matte finish. I must say that they have it
nailed to the tee. Permaplum does indeed have a metallic shimmer, with a
matte finish.
Long lasting? We will get on to that later on in this review.
Permaplum Powerpoint Pencil also claims that the liner will not transfer or smudge.
After applying the color to my hand, tried to smudge the liner around.
Turns out they weren't lying. The liner didn't smudge or budge when I
rubbed my finger across it...and I rubbed my finger across it pretty
hard. Hot damn, I am impressed. I have never seen this occur with
eyeliner pencils before.
You mean to tell me that I can lightly rub my eyes while wearing this!? Yes! I mean that. I really, really do.
My Use:
After falling in love with MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil Permaplum on my hand, I had to actually put it to use on my eyes.
Seeing how this particular color was a dark stormy purple it would
look good on my eyes. My eyes seem to look best when they have black
eyeliner on them. Permaplum though was pretty dark, and I knew it would
look just fine.
I applied the liner on with ease, as the tip is extremely velvety and
smooth to the touch. My eyes looked great. I had a lovely stormy gray
purple look that really brought out my eyes. I was impressed, I truly
didn't think I would like this color at first, and here I was in awe
with it.
Permaplum left behind that nice purple metallic shimmer, while not looking tacky.
Last:
This is what you were all waiting for. So I can report that Permaplum
didn't budge, smudge, or leak into any creases in my eyes. I was
surprised, a liner this creamy, and it does not budge. The last was all
day, from morning till night. You cannot go wrong with this one ladies,
it's a true lover.
Overall:
MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil Permaplum is probably one of the best liner
pencils I have ever encountered. I have not a single complaint or issue
with it. Bravo to MAC for making such an awesome product.
Recommendation:
This particular color would look great on those who like dark liners.
Those who prefer lighter colors should avoid this one and check out the
site for other available colors.
Do not pass this one up though. I know most women wear black liner,
but Permaplum is truly a color that is dark enough and pretty enough to
satisfy you dark lined ladies.
Pricing:
A MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil will set you back $13.50. It's truly worth
it. Forget about using those clumpy gunky dollar store liners that
smudge. You will see, and feel the difference with MAC.
Once you go MAC you won't ever go back.
