I have naturally thick wavy hair, so the easiest style for me to do is
to curl my hair using Dep gel on damp hair. However the one biggest
issue I have with my hair is frizz. Curly hair is so easily prone to
getting frizz; just brushing it can turn it into a frizzy hideous puff
ball.
There are products though to keep your curly hair from frizzing up.
Many products I have used in my time have either worked like a charm, or
sucked so bad I went looking for a refund!
One of the best product of course is hair spray. However if you've got
curly hair and you use too much hair spray, or the wrong type of hair
spray did you know that you could actually end up with even frizzier
hair than you began with!
Yep, unfortunately not all hair sprays are alike. Some will add
volume, some will turn your hair to stone, and others will leave nasty
white flakes behind.
Some though work perfectly, it's hard finding them and you will have
to weed through a lot of garbage to find one that works right for you. I
personally have used sprays that have cost anywhere up to $30.00, and
found that they were worse than ones at Dollar Stores.
One of my all time favorite hair sprays is one of the old fashioned originals believe it or not. Aqua Net.
Aqua Net
will combat frizz, and keep your curls looking shiny, bouncy, and soft.
It's hair spray that my grandmother used, and for good reasons, this
stuff works, and it works well.
There are other hair serums you could add to curly hair to keep the
curls looking soft and frizz free, one particular recommendation of mine
is Pro Vitamin Curls Up. This one is available at any local Ulta, or Ulta.com. It basically controls frizz and re-activates curls.
Another excellent product found at Ulta is also by Pro Vitamin and is called Curl Booster Scrunching and Curling Spray. I really like this one because it is small enough as to where I can carry it in my bag for quick curl touch ups.
The product though does not work well alone. You should always add a
bit of regular DEP gel to your hair, and use this spray for in between
touch ups for when curls begin to look a little limp or frizzy. It
basically adds a quick boost to curls you already have. Simply spray it
into hair, and scrunch it a little bit. Curls will be re-animated.
If you have naturally curly hair, these products will really liven up
your natural curls, add more bounce, shine, and keep frizz away.
Other products that you curly hairs lovelies will want to try include anything in John Frieda's Frizz-Ease collection. These serums will keep frizz away, and leave curls feeling natural, soft, and lively.
To add natural high beaming shine to curly hair you will simply need a
glossing spray. Do not use a lot though, because it will leave hair
looking greasy. One spray glosser you should check out is Garnier Brilliant Shine Glossing Spray.
The spray comes with a very fair amount of product, and the shine lasts
for hours. Best of all, the scent is very nice, and will stay in your
hair.
Products to avoid for those with curly hair include bristle hair
brushes, blow dryers, volumizing shampoos/conditioners/sprays, and hair
wax.
