Believe it or not ladies, our mops on top are against all sorts of harsh
elements brought on by nature herself. In the winter we battle dry hair
and static hair, in the summer we have to battle damage brought on by
the sun. No matter what season, it's as if we are buying all sorts of
products just to keep out hair looking and feeling its best.
Like our skin, there are things that one must do to the hair in order to protect it from UV damage.
UV rays over time can leave your hair looking dull, feeling dry, and
in more sever cases, could even cause the hair to grow extremely brittle
and break.
Solutions to Protect Hair From UV Damage:
One of the quickest and easiest solutions to keeping hair its best,
and protecting it from the sun would be to spritz in some leave in
conditioner into your locks before leaving the house.
One particular leave in conditioner that I've used not only in the summer, but the winter as well is Infusium 23.
Not only is this particular leave in treatment spectacular when it
comes to keeping hair looking, smelling, and feeling fantastic, but
there is a particular formula that is designed to protect hair from UV
rays. Click to view.
One bottle of this stuff will protect your hair all summer long.
If you find that leave in conditioners are not within your budget, you
could simply dab some regular hair conditioner into your palms, and
lightly coat your hair with it. Any conditioner will do really. Just
don't add too much, otherwise you'll end up with greasy looking hair.
Another simple solution would be to seek out hair products that
contain SPF. There are many hair care products available on shelves that
contain SPF protection.
You could also, rub in some of your sun block if you don't feel like
going to the store to seek out particular SPF hair products. Any sun
block will do. Like the conditioner treatment, be sure not to over use
it, otherwise you're hair will look like a grease pit.
Another tip for those who spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun
would be to wear a hat. Wearing a hat is one of the quickest and easiest
solutions. Many stores sell extra large sun hats which work the best.
Unfortunately these hats are not the most flattering looking hats, but
they will work best, and will also protect your skin from sun damage;
and we all know over exposing your skin to the sun will cause premature
wrinkles! Gag!
If you spend a lot of time in the sun, I would also recommend using a
conditioning mask at least once every 2 weeks. There are so many
different types of conditioning masks you could choose from, however I
have found that Pantene's Conditioning Masks.
Garnier also makes some excellent conditioning masks.
Your hair will benefit from these masks because they provide an ultra
amount of soft and soothing moisturization to dried out locks.
Caring for hair in the hotter summer months is a bit annoying, but it is definitely necessary; plus,
some of the products I have mentioned above take the guess work out of
it, and many of them require little to no effort on your part.
