I have been give slews of freebie makeup items thanks to having a
relative who works in the makeup industry. Many of the items he has
given to me have been these extremely over priced products that I a most
of the time very impressed with.
However time and time again I have been given makeup products by
Chanel, and never am I too impressed. What does impress me though is the
fan base of Chanel lovers that will actually spend $50.00 on a
lipstick, or pressed powder. For me to spend that much money on makeup,
that product better work some instant wonders; long lasting instant
wonders.
The most recent Chanel item he passed off to me is Chanel Purete Mat, Shine Control Powder. It usually sells for around $40+, in my opinion the price is insanity, especially considering how very small the compact is.
I have spent a heap of money however on foundation, and Estee Lauder
Double Wear costs me a pretty penny for when I need to restock. I have
however never spent that much money on a pressed powder. I was expecting
miracles, I was expecting this shine control powder to keep my face
shine free all day long, with a price that high, I expected no less.
My Use:
I put on my makeup as I usually do. I used my Double Wear foundation,
added my blush, and then went ahead and brushed some of the Chanel Purete Mat, Shine Control Powderon to my areas where I usually get shiny, which is my nose, and forehead.
I then headed to work and went about my day. By mid afternoon, I
usually do a quick lunch break touch-up in the bathroom because I am
aware that I have shiny skin, and hate how it looks.
When I went into the bathroom though, I noticed that the shine was not
that bad at all. Usually my forehead shines like a mirror, especially
on warmer days, and that day happened to be a warm day. There was some
shine, but nowhere near what I was expecting.
I touched up my forehead with a little dab of the powder, and by the
time I got home at 6:30pm, my face was as fresh, and shine free as it
had been since my last touch up.
While it requires a mid-day touch-up, the touch-up was small, and my skin remained fresh and shine free all day long.
I have to say, I like it. In fact I might even love it enough to
purchase it again once it runs out. What's really wonderful about Chanel Purete Mat, Shine Control Powderis
that it does not compromise the foundation on my face. It goes on
invisible, so your foundation color remains the same. A lot of shine
free powders I've used lighten my foundations color, but Purete Mat did
not.
Overall:
I really like this one by Chanel. I was expecting to rip this one to
shreds in a review, but it actually took me by surprised, by working,
and doing as promised.
If you too suffer from shiny or oily skin, then you will really, really like the results you will get from Chanel Purete Mat, Shine Control Powder.
It gets a 4.5 out of 5 stars from me.
