Review: Nexxus Maximum Super Hold Styling & Finishing Mist

For the past few months now I have become a fan of Nexxus hair care products; from their shampoo's to conditioner's I've found that they all work really well. The products Nexxus sell are a little pricey, but in most cases the price is worth the results, and Nexxus gives results, great results.

After I ran out of my usual hair spray, I needed to pick up a new bottle. Normally I buy cheap bottles of hair spray, and find they do the job just fine. White Rain in particular makes wonderful long lasting hold hair spray. No white flakes, long hold, and a dashing floral scent to go with it.

When I came across Nexxus Maximum Super Hold Styling & Finishing Mist though, I wanted to give it a try. The price attached to the bottle of spray however was high, at nearly $11.00. I bought it with hopes that it would do a lot, a real lot. It did promise to keep hard to hold styles in place, while adding a brilliant shine. The spray also boasted that it would not leave the hair flaky, dull, or cause buildup. It also is supposed to prevent stiffness, and stickiness.

Most hair sprays do that these days, and it's been a really long time since I came across a hair spray that left behind flakes.

The gold colored aerosol can contains approximately 10 ounces of spray, which is more than enough to last me 3 months of daily use.

My Use:

I styled my hair as usual, and went ahead with using Nexxus Maximum Super Hold Styling & Finishing Mist. Hair sprays in the past were used to hold my hair in place, and to keep frizz away.

I sprayed in a decent amount of Nexxus Maximum Super Hold Styling & Finishing Mist, and watched as a brilliant coat of shine got left behind on my hair. As the hair spray dried, the shine remained which was very nice. Usually as soon as spray dries it does nothing when it comes to shine, but Nexxus Maximum Super Hold Styling & Finishing Mist did as promised.

As my hair dried, it was left feeling a bit stiff, so it failed as far as the stuff free promise goes. The scent is pleasant, but vanishes as it dries.

The hold however is what I wanted to mention. The hold sucks. The spray does keep hair in place for the first few hours after spraying it in, but as the day goes on, slowly the hold lets loose allowing frizz to pop back up, and hair to fall from its place.

For $11.00 I was expecting the spray to last all day long; an all day long strong hold, just like it was supposed to do. Only it never did.

The pros are that it does leave hair shiny, and it does not flake up. The cons though drain away all of the good that the mist has. The spray was supposed to hold my hair in place all day long, and with only a few hours of gripping action, the spray is relatively useless to me seeing that I cannot touch it up throughout the day.

Overall:

It would have been a mint product if it would have held my style in place. I have switched back to my $2.00 brand, and will likely not bother with using expensive hair sprays from Nexxus in the future.
