Review: Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion

I don't care what the label says, Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion should be a unisex lotion. I was actually given this magical lotion for men in a bag filled with cosmetics, lotions and perfume. I was going to give it to my boyfriend seeing how he has combination oily skin. I figured he'd like using it to keep shine away.

Before passing it off to him though, I of course wanted to give it a try.

Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion comes in a plastic stand up squeeze tube, with the name of the product neatly written on the tube. It's pretty hard to miss, and can be found in the mens bath/body sections at local warehouse stores, or mass merchandise stores like Target or Walmart.

The Lotion:
 
Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion, is a white colored mildly thin textured lotion. It's not runny, nor thick, but it is a lot thinner than most facial lotions I am personally used to.

The Scent:
 
Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotions scent is likely why the label it lotion for men. It has a scent that is masculine, clean and fresh all rolled in to one. I personally have always liked manly scents, and Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion is definitely manly. It mainly reminds me a lot of the mens cologne Cool Water.

The Promise:
 
According to the tubes back description, I learned that Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion has a special powder inside of it that will control oil, and absorb oil! That it would quickly absorb oil without leaving behind any residue. The results are supposedly smooth, fresh, shine free skin.

How Well Does It Work?
 
Well I applied a fair amount to my entire face after washing my face in the morning. I hoped it would keep me shine free all day long, as I tend to shine like a mirror on my forehead my mid-afternoon.

The lotion goes on smoothly and easily, and absorbed into my skin pretty fast. I also noted that one promise rang true. The lotion didn't leave behind any residue! Yay! Maybe the rest of the promises that were promised on the back package will be true as well!?

Sigh, no such luck.
 
No more than an hour goes by and I could already see that Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion was not working. My forehead was shining, my nose shiny... my face shiny.

Now most shine lotions don't work at all, and Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion is another one of those 'nope, don;'t work' shine control lotions, to add to the list of crappy shine controlling lotions.


Overall:
Nivea for Men Oil Control Balancing Lotion couldn't even keep my skin shine free for an hour. If it can't control my oily skin, it's likely it won't control anyone's. It's just another promise gone wrong.
