This evening I was excited to open up my mailbox to find a
package! Inside the package I came across a new product from
COVERGIRLcalled COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlast. The deal was simple-- test
out the free product, write an honest review on it, and keep it! As a
girl with a never ending supply of makeup, I was thrilled.
Initially I loved the color combo, and I loved how COVERGIRL placed
two colors within one unique dual tube. The color I tested was Bronze
Fire, which is a suiting name to the color combo.
I liked the color combo because it takes the guesswork out of everything, especially for those who like to blend two colors onto their eyelids, yet have a difficult time picking appropriate colors to blend. The duo comes with one light pearly/shimmery gold, and one darker color which looks like burnt copper.
I knew the lighter golden color would look great as an upper lid highlighter, while the darker bronze color shadow would be perfect for creating a nice bronzed smoky effect on my lower eyelids.
The larger rounded golden colored eye shadow allows for quick and easy application, while the neatly shaped darker color eye shadow allows for easy shaping, and precise application. I especially enjoyed this because I planned on applying the lighter colored shadow to the entire eye, as a base. It makes for an excellent highlighter for your upper brow bone as well; however I went ahead and used it as I saw fit to my makeup application preferences.
After covering the eye with the lighter color shadow, I popped the top off the darker bronze eye shadow, and applied it in a more precise manner to my lower lid. I extended the color outward a bit, in order to create a larger illusion for my eyes.
I was extremely happy with how easily both eye shadows were able to glide across my lids. The shadow itself is creamy, and goes on like silk. The feeling is weightless, and comfortable on the eye. I have used tons of cream shadows and normally I hate how they leave a sticky, greasy feeling behind.
COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlastgoes on easily, dries quickly, and you can't feel it. This is a major plus for eye shadow junkies who are looking for an eye shadow that delivers beautiful color, without the gunky feeling.
I am sure many of you reading this are wondering how COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlastwears. Does it last? Fade? Crease?
In my experience, COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlast did last. I applied it in the morning and went about my business.
By mid-afternoon I noticed the color was still on my eyelid uninterrupted. The blended colors still looked as fresh and fine as they had when I first applied them. However, about an hour after that I noticed a little bit of buildup in my creases. Many cream shadows create creases in the eyelids, and I was not too shocked when I saw that there were obvious crease marks.
But this shadow is so silky, so I was able to swipe my finger across my eyelids to blend the buildup back in with the rest of the lid. It was a quick fix, and worked like a charm. The rest of the day my color stood still, and there was no buildup again in my creases. I got around 9 hours of wear until I noticed a significant fade in color.
Overall:
All-in-all I like it.
I loved the foolproof method of the duo of colors COVERGIRL added into the tube, I love how quickly and easily the color just glided across my lids, and blended with little to no work on my part at all.
This is especially welcoming when I am on the run, and looking to add some color to my lids, but don't have the time to sit in front of a mirror blending, re-applying, and blending again. This duo makes everything simple and extremely fast, which is perfect for those days when I oversleep and need to rush out of the house.
Mostly though, I loved how it felt like I was wearing nothing at all. I would have loved the product a lot more had there been no creasing; but all in all, for a cream shadow COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlastis one of those top notch eye shadows that I will likely use again and again.
I have come to learn that COVERGIRL's Smoky ShadowBlastcomes in other shades, so it's definitely something I am going to check out.
I highly recommend this one to women who are on the go, and like makeup that is simple, fast, easy and effective.
