Review of Nars Cosmetics: Lip Lacquer, Baby Doll

About a week ago my uncle came up from the city with a gigantic bag filled with all sorts of goodies. This bag seriously contained everything and anything and makeup junkie could ever dream of. From designer brands to small mom and pop store brands. I was in heaven, and still am.

One designer product that I didn't know much about, nor have I ever heard about was Lip Lacquer by designer NARS. The small pot of lip lacquer was labeled Baby Doll.

I myself have never been into lip products, and most of the ones I have are ones I absolutely love and purchased, or they are given to me for my birthday or for Christmas.

Nars Lip Lacquer, Baby Doll however seemed to be something I would like. If not, I figured I'd just pass the little pot on to a friend or relative.

The Color:

Baby Doll is simply beautiful. It is a high gloss colored pink with very teensy tiny micro flecks of shimmer in the gloss. The Nars site refers to it as cotton candy pink, which in my opinion is a perfect description for the Baby Doll Lip Lacquer.

My Use:

I didn't plan on placing the lacquer on top of lipstick. I wanted to see how it would look all alone, all by itself, right on top of my lips, with no help from another color or lip product.

I dipped my finger (I hate finger dipping into lip pots, but I didn't have a lip brush on hand) into the small pot, scooped out some of the lip lacquer and ran it across my lips.

The texture is nice compared to other high gloss lip products I have used before. It is not sticky, greasy feeling, or heavy to wear. My lips simply felt moisturized and nice. I was pretty shocked, I was expecting it to be a little greasy, especially seeing how shiny it made my lips.

What I also liked was the fact that NARS Lip Lacquer, Baby Doll left behind the same color on my lips, as you see in the pot. It is not lightened up, nor transparent. The pink color shows through.

NARS... colored me impressed!

Last:

So I loved how it looked, loved the color, and I loved the fact that it made my lips feel smooth and moisturized without feeling grainy, greasy or sticky. So all of these wonderful things combined and I truly had thought I had found the perfect lip lacquer (gloss/color).

Then I realized no less than 20 minutes later that all of those wondrous things were gone. No shine, no color, nothing. NARS Lip Lacquer, Baby Doll has no last at all.

It was quite disappointing, because I had truly fallen in love with it just moments earlier.

How unfortunate that a small pot of Nars Lip Lacquer comes to $24.00 and doesn't even last a full 24 minutes after applying.

Sorry, No.
