Whenever I dye my hair, my hair takes a toll. It becomes dry, brittle,
and lacks shine. Although many dye kits come with excellent after cream
for conditioning, most are in such small tubes that if you have long, or
thick hair, it does not go very far, or do very much you.
I usually keep up with keeping my hair moisturized by using a
conditioning mask a few times a week for up to a month after coloring
the hair. Garnier 3 Minute Masques are really effective.
If you are like me though, you probably like trying new products
whenever you come across them. I recently came across a big green tube
of Vigorance Capillary Mask. I planned on dyeing my hair later on in the week, and figured I would go ahead and give this one a try after coloring my hair.
After quickly glancing at the back of the tub, I noticed that the mask
was made with dry hair in mind. Basically 3 minutes with it in your
hair, and your hair would be nourished, and relieved of dryness. It
sounded perfect.
After coloring my hair, I went ahead and used the tube of conditioning cream that came included in the kit.
My hair was still dry though, so I waited till the next day to put Vigorance Capillary Mask
to use. Inside the cream is thick and white, with a nice refreshing
melon like scent to it. Besides the scent of melon though, as I applied
the cream and waited for it to sit, I noticed that it had a very small
hint of something that smelled like pool chlorine. I didn't like it too
much, and hoped that it would not be left behind in my hair as scent.
While rinsing the cream out of my hair, I was able to tell that it had
really done a number as far as adding moisture. However the more and
more I rinsed, the more and more I realized that perhaps it had over
moisturized. I continued to rinse because it felt as if my hair had left
over residue in it still, and I knew if I didn't clear my hair of the
thick greased feeling, that my hair would dry looking greasy, and dull.
No matter how long I sat under the stream of running water though, my
hair still felt weighed down and greased. It reminded me of Queen
Helene's masques. They work wonderfully, but if you don't rinse it out,
you end up with some nasty weighed down, greasy looking hair.
I rinsed for a really long time, and eventually gave up, and got out
of the shower to brush my hair and pull it back while it air dried.
Results:
My predictions in the shower were correct. As my hair dried, it had a
weighed down feeling, and the top of my head was over moisturized. No
matter how long I rinsed, there was still way too much residue left
behind. The result was hair that not only looked greasy, but it felt
greasy.
All in all, if you have hair thats charred, then perhaps you will enjoy the over moisturizing benefits of Vigorance Capillary Mask; but if your hair is only slightly dry, I'd recommend you just skip out on this one.
